Least, that is what Alex Easton believes. Upon receiving a letter from his old friend that she is dying, Alex rushes to be by her side. Maddy is sickly pale and frankly looks like death. She also has started trance walking, where she wonders down to the lake in the middle of the night. There seems to be strange things afoot at the Usher manor. A glowing lake, hares that seem to be in trance, and a maid that jumped off the roof to her death. Alex needs to save his friend before it is too late.
Great read for under 200 pages!

He sees a house for rent in the middle of nowhere and decides to move his family in. The house was the scene of a gruesome disappearance of a family 75 years ago. All that was left was blood smears and splatters. Their bodies are still unaccounted for. Upon arrival, they find all the furniture is bolted down and there are strange gaps in the walls. Not to mention an annoying ticking sound that seems to be speeding up. The family soon learns they are in the middle of a killing machine invented by a psychopathic genius.

What if you killed your husband, kids, friends, and that nosy neighbor believing they were the undead trying to eat you? You find other "survivors" to team up with. Now, what if I told you that was all a lie. There is a new disease that could trigger your brain to think the zombie apocalypse was upon us. That you actually did kill your loved ones, not the undead. What would you do when faced with that knowledge? I really enjoyed this interesting take on an old genre. Recommend!...more

Definitely a unique take on the living dead and how we as a people address them. Out of all the situations I have read about, this seems to be the most realistic to me. Plenty of blood and gore to go around, but that ending is a tearjerker. Bring plenty of tissues!...more
