Least, that is what Alex Easton believes. Upon receiving a letter from his old friend that she is dying, Alex rushes to be by her side. Maddy is sickly pale and frankly looks like death. She also has started trance walking, where she wonders down to the lake in the middle of the night. There seems to be strange things afoot at the Usher manor. A glowing lake, hares that seem to be in trance, and a maid that jumped off the roof to her death. Alex needs to save his friend before it is too late.

Ten year old Stevie and his cousin Jude are best friends. They spend most of their time together playing in the woods. Until one day Jude disappears. Frantic Stevie searches everywhere for him. Even the creepy rundown house deep in the woods to no avail. Suddenly Jude shows up on his doorstep a few days later. However Jude has changed. He is no longer the cousin he has known all his life.
Deep in the woods lives a woman in a rundown house who many years ago wanted to trade everything for a child. What she got was an abomination. The thing she gave birth to turned into a monster. Stuck between her maternal instincts and the need for freedom she has to decide if she can save herself.
All their fates collide together one summer night when Jude disappears. What is the monster? Can it be stopped? Where are all the damn pets disappearing to? Will Stevie's butthead stepdad get the death he deserves?
Usually I don't like books told from a young child's POV. I get bored quickly. However this one kept me holding on tight. Don't come in wanting a happy ending. Stevie deserved better Ania....more

She is more entrenched with The Visitor to the point where she barely has any human emotions left. This time around, we get a glimpse of other timelines and alternate versions of people in those timelines, which is fun. As usual, this read is a bloody good time. A wonderful followup to the first installment....more

Then there was a loud bang on my door. Y'all I screamed and went running to the bathroom. My cellphone starts ringing. My neighbor was knocking on my door to return some containers she had borrowed. I almost died in a Tupperware return. So yeah, this book will scare the crap out of you and make you question every noise outside your windows....more

The game is simple. Spend a week in an abandoned amusement park playing the ultimate game of hide and go seek without being caught. The prize is enough money to change your life. Fourteen contestants are locked behind massive gates with one goal in mind....make it to sundown. Mack has been hiding her whole life. She knows she can win. However, the game is rigged. There is no winner in this game. Only screams from the hunted as the hunter finds them two by two.
There was no need for romance in this book. I mean, they are being picked off one by one. Not exactly the atmosphere for budding love. I wish horror writers would stop this nonsense. It is not believable....more

The second was pretty good. The ending, not so much. Still a great read....more

Mattie and William live on a mountain alone. William is an abusive twat that deserves to die several times over. Poor Mattie is a literal walking punching bag. One day she comes across a shredded dead fox when checking snares. She quickly realizes something else not human, not quite animal, has moved in on the mountain. Do you think William is grateful for this information? Of course not because Mattie is not supposed to have thoughts or ideas not sanctioned by his majesty. To make matters worse, outsiders are now looking for the creature. So, between black eyes and an intelligent being, Mattie has to find a way to survive.
It missed being 4 star because there is no explanation about the creature. You're just left hanging out there....more

Climbers discover what might be Noah's Ark high up in the mountains. Don't ask me why it is there, it just is. Cue everyone trying to get in on the discovery in the middle of a blizzard. They find something with horns that was entombed in a black box with old writing. All kinds of chaos start breaking out as the demon starts body hopping faster than an escort on a Friday night. Trapped inside by the blizzard with no hopes of rescue, with death around every corner, who will make it out. Outstanding read....more

A book has to grab me fast to make me hang in there. So I struggled for a few chapters because it was all about fishing. I mean, it is The Fisherman. Is a giant fish going to jump out of the river and eat people? Zombie fishes? Then the story unfolded and off we went all the way to the end, holding my breath. It makes the question of what would you do if you could get your loved back from the dead? Could you sacrifice your life? Become something not human? Would it be worth it?
Excellent plot (besides the fishing) heart pounding moments. However, not one zombie fish! Highly recommend....more
