Let me just say if I wake up in the middle of the night and an army of whatever bugs takes over my room, I am burning it all down. Right after I am revived from the heart attack, I would have escaping that 6th ring of hell. Creepy read indeed....more

TThirty years ago, a Vietnam vet nicknamed Agent Orange went on a murderous rampage in the town of Morgan. The military had to intercede to kill him. The problem is he didn't stay dead. No matter how many times he is killed, Agent Orange reappears for more blood and bodies. Finally, the government walled off Morgan and the surrounding towns to keep him inside. However, how do you keep a killer inside the walls when he has no fresh victims? Apparently the solution is to kidnap Americans and toss them inside against their will. Eleven people go to sleep and wake up in the kill zone. There is no time to think, only time to run.
I loved this book. It was like what would happen if Jason was real and loose in the world, but without the awkward teenage sex scenes. Agent Orange is a homegrown nightmare. Recommend for horror readers that don't mind body parts flying and heads on stakes for lawn decorations....more

The last occupants ran out in the middle of the night with a rifle, jumped in their car and never returned. They left everything. Clothes, furniture, like I said, everything. Just like every occupant before them. The grass never grows. The garden is black. Animals and people give it wide berth. Now the house has a new renter named Anna and I can feel the house coming alive again.
Great haunted house read. Just creepy enough to give you chills. Recommend!...more

Just as creepy and terrifying. My tour of demons keeps on keeping for some reason. However, this book wanted to throw in dolls as well, which is my 2nd fear, right up there with clowns. Recommend! We find ourselves on his travels for his next book about the supernatural, or more like he is out to prove it doesn't exist. Which is how we end up in Italy watching a live exorcism. Jack sets off a chain of events that will leave us all scared and the need to leave the lights on to fall asleep at night. They find a hidden map leading to waterfalls and a small town on a hiking trail in the woods behind the cabin. Along the way, a bushy bearded stranger attempts to hold them at gun point. The couples race to the small town for help, only to find it abandoned. They can't leave the town because a strange fog and shadow creature is blocking all exits. There we are subjected to weird death loops, ghosts running around town, and some mystery Narnia tree with a door. Which there is never an explanation for. Nope, not one hint. The ending left me just as clueless as what was behind the Narnia tree door....more
Getting on my bulletproof vest for this unpopular opinion.....
I saw all the great reviews and thought this was going to be a good one. While yes, the Getting on my bulletproof vest for this unpopular opinion.....
I saw all the great reviews and thought this was going to be a good one. While yes, the writer created one heck of a spooky atmosphere, that is about all I could cheer about. I absolutely abhorred the main character. Her only goal it seemed in life was making sure her husband was happy, whether she was or not. It was all about him. She was a dollar tree doormat. The husband was an arrogant ass. Just no, nope, not today. Who lets their housekeeper degrade them and pull all kinds of shenanigans without being called on it at least? We kept being told how much money this dude had, so we're just going to let the maid run amok. Finally, after getting through all, the twists are just dumped on your lap. Like here you go, have a good day.
I settled on 3 stars because I did enjoy the mystery elements. ...more

In the 1860s, Annie is young, alone and not a dollar to her name. Few options being available, she resorts to prostitution in a boardinghouse. She goes by the name of Bessie and soon becomes high in demand among the gentlemen callers. Bessie has expensive clothes, accessories, and diamond rings. Bessie's ghost remains, fueled by revenge and the desire to see her husband hang at the end of a noose.
This was a good ghost story. Bessie's life short as it was full of heartache. Recommend for the lovers of a ghost tale with no horror involved....more
