I had no idea that there were leper institutes and people suffering from this disease were forced to live there. This read follows Mirielle West, wife of a famous movie star, who discovers she has leprosy. She is forced to leave her family and reside in a place in Louisiana. As you can assume, it is a bit of a culture shock for the rich wife used to having everything at her disposal. You meet many characters on her journey that you can't help but fall in love with. Mirielle's struggle with who she used to be and who she is now is heartbreaking and inspirational. Recommend!...more

Three days laHerold's disease sweeps the globe, killing all children that have not hit puberty. The world mourns as experts scramble to find out why. Three days later mass graves are being filled, the children miraculously resurrect. Millions of children are suddenly "awake". No vital signs, smell of decay, skin gray, these children are shells of what they used to be. Only one thing brings them back to their former selves: blood. The blood lasts for only so long until more blood is needed to keep the children awake.
One fabulous bloody book. I love the different take on an apocalypse event using children as our downfall. Parents will fight to the end to make sure their child survives, even if that child is not really their child anymore. Recommend!...more
I find it hard to believe a bunch of teenage, catty girls stuck in this situation would still listen to their teacher or headmistress. Especially if II find it hard to believe a bunch of teenage, catty girls stuck in this situation would still listen to their teacher or headmistress. Especially if I was slowly being eaten alive by some strange disease that made me grow extra parts. I wouldn't have been listening to nobody. I was a hellraiser in high school, so maybe it is my inner rebel talking. Loved the book and some characters. Wish we would have had more info on the Tox and its origins. Solid read if you can suspend belief for awhile....more

We are following a very pregnant Natalie who has been bitten in a kitchen standoff and her best friend Dr. Ramola "Rams" Sherman who is recruited to get them to safety. As Natalie fights for her life and her unborn child, we are taken on a desperate odyssey in a nightmare landscape of survival.
Relentless and heart pounding from start to finish. This book is quick to remind you that even though you may survive, there are no happy endings to be had here. Recommend!...more

Definitely a unique take on the living dead and how we as a people address them. Out of all the situations I have read about, this seems to be the most realistic to me. Plenty of blood and gore to go around, but that ending is a tearjerker. Bring plenty of tissues!...more

On a lovely evening, 2 teens decide to break into a lab to free the animals. Awesome right? Unfortunately, they released the animals with a new strain of rabies that can be transmitted to humans. Lyssa, Greek word for rabies, is now loose in a small town and the race for a cure is on. One scratch, bite, or sexual relations can make you infected. As the residents are dying off in rapid numbers, will it stay contained in the city limits?
I found this book interesting because of the rabies angle. While it is pretty good, it is slow moving in some parts. I felt the ending was lacking and rushed. Overall, a good read....more

We are following three generations of women and their struggle to survive. When your world turns upside down and the person next to you can murder you without warning, how do you find safety?
This was a great read. I was fully invested in the characters from the start. I wanted them to survive and get out of situations they were in. It was wonderful watching these women find their voice in a messed up world. Recommend!

Their presence is everywhere. The main facility is known as "The Hive" it is deep underground in Raccoon City. A classified research lab that houses about 500 employees, lab animals, and questionable creatures. Suddenly The Red Queen, state of the art security system, locks The Hive down killing everyone. A team is sent in to find out what happened and to reopen The Hive. Things get ugly real fast as the employees are dead, but not dead, dead. And let's not discuss what is in the employee cafeteria. I love all things Resident Evil. I wish I would have read the books first.

I have a few of the comics also which are awesome. So yeah we are in Woodbury where the Governor is charge. Everything on the surface seems great. There is even ice!! However behind the mask the Governor wears is a evil narcissist who rules with an iron fist. Dare to defy him and you will find yourself in a death match with walkers for the town's amusement. The Governor has dark secrets he keeps close to the vest. Will he reveal his black heart for the town to see? I like the book. It was nice to be back in Woodbury. If you are TWD fan I would give this a read.
