It was interesting to see how Madeleine Force captured the heart of John Jacob “Jack” Astor. How society snubbed her because her family didn't come from money, and she was the "second" wife. The Titanic part brought tears to my eyes because I knew how it was going to end. So many good people died while cowards were overtaking the boats. Astor's son was heartbroken. Never truly accepting his father died at sea. Tissues all around. An excellent read!...more

They are to be the next King and Queen of England. Alas, Arthur dies five months into the marriage, leaving Katherine adrift in the English court. Unable to return home but now a widow, she has to find a way to marry second son Henry, who will now be King.
This was a rough read. I didn't care for the format at all. The story didn't flow as easily as it did in the previous books. At least I didn't have to deal with King Henry being an ass too much in this book. Though, the fact, he wanted to marry his widowed daughter-in-law was gross. So now we are on to King Henry the VIII and his many wives....more

I love the characters and the scenic backdrop but my lord how long can you discuss people on vacation at the beach with a creepy house next door. I started getting bored around 40%.
Pros - Creepy house of sand. Relatable characters. I finished it.
Cons - Nothing really happens until the end of the book. Bunch of filler content that is tedious. ...more

King Edward 1483, Westminster Princess Cecily York, daughter of the dead King Edmund York, has to learn how to survive as her rivals take the throne. King Edward Tudor VII marries her sister Elizabeth York to combine the two houses. Sister to the Queen of England, surrounded by enemies, she has to learn to keep her distaste in check. I really enjoyed seeing things from Cecily's point of view. You have to wonder how it was being the sister to the Queen and was going to be used as a spare if the Queen was barren. Cecily led an interesting but dishearten life. Recommend!...more

Yeah, another book filled with ice and snow. This time we are in the Arctic Circle, where Val Chesterfield is called in to decipher what language a little girl is speaking. Not just any little girl, but a child that was defrosted from a block of ice and survived. Crazy town right? Did I mention Val's twin brother was on this discovery until he committed suicide by becoming a human popsicle? Val suspects foul play. She takes it upon herself to investigate because her father is an ass.
There is a lot going on in the book, but mostly it is Val trying to get the child to communicate. I disliked the main character. She just let Wyatt, a fellow researcher, bully her. I would have thrown Wyatt and his not girlfriend in the ice pit accidentally on purpose. Interesting read....more

I enjoyed the Princess Charlotte diary entries. The Princess Diana parts were horrible. More than once the phrase, "thick as two planks of wood" were used. Inferring Princess Diana was not smart really made me mad. Then the constant implication that Princess Diana was some shrinking violet that spent most of her time purging was disgusting. This author tried to make Diana look vapid. If I could, I would demand a refund for the money I spent on this book.

What I thought witchy historical fiction turned into something else completely. What sorcery is this? No matter, I still enjoyed this tale immensely. Usually I would be mad at the sudden turn of events, but I was willing to go where the author took me. I was so caught up in the story, I had to know how it ended for my new character friends. Excellent read! Recommend....more

Dear Ms. Anne Heltel,
I would like to bring to your attention the book you have written will have me having nightmares at least for a week. Was it necessary to include dolls with AI intelligence? Dolls are already creepy, but you had to turn it up a few notches. Then to throw in a Motherhood cult is well played, ma'am. Enclosed you will find my cash app tag in which I demand payment for the upcoming therapy I will now need.

Elizabeth York is forced to marry Henry in an attempt to win over the English people and hold the throne. Henry is an ass and had no idea how to be a beloved king. He thought over taxing his subjects, chopping his lord's heads off for even a wrong look, and basically bullying them, they would learn to submit. Henry ruled by fear and cried when he didn't have the people's love. Like I said, he's an ass. Moving on to the next book, where I am sure he will still be an ass....more

Lyssa, Greek word for rabies, is now loose in a small town and the race for a cure is on. One scratch, bite, or sexual relations can make you infected. As the residents are dying off in rapid numbers, will it stay contained in the city limits?
I found this book interesting because of the rabies angle. While it is pretty good, it is slow moving in some parts. I felt the ending was lacking and rushed. Overall, a good read....more

So in this installment we are still in the same years as Book 2 and 3. This time we are following Anne Neville, Richard Neville's youngest daughter. Richard Neville, nickname is "The Kingmaker" for being the backbone of Edmund York uprising and placement on the throne. I felt sadness reading how these men used their daughters as pawns. They didn't one damn about them, only what fortune or placement could the girl bring the family name. Don't get me started on the we need a boy heir madness. Just gross. Good read and ties up loose strings from the other 2 books....more
