Getting on my bulletproof vest for this unpopular opinion.....

I saw all the great reviews and thought this was going to be a good one. While yes, the writer created one heck of a spooky atmosphere, that is about all I could cheer about. I absolutely abhorred the main character. Her only goal it seemed in life was making sure her husband was happy, whether she was or not. It was all about him. She was a dollar tree doormat. The husband was an arrogant ass. Just no, nope, not today. Who lets their housekeeper degrade them and pull all kinds of shenanigans without being called on it at least? We kept being told how much money this dude had, so we're just going to let the maid run amok. Finally, after getting through all, the twists are just dumped on your lap. Like here you go, have a good day.
I settled on 3 stars because I did enjoy the mystery elements. ...more

Three days later mass graves are being filled, the children miraculously resurrect. Millions of children are suddenly "awake". No vital signs, smell of decay, skin gray, these children are shells of what they used to be. Only one thing brings them back to their former selves: blood. The blood lasts for only so long until more blood is needed to keep the children awake.
One fabulous bloody book. I love the different take on an apocalypse event using children as our downfall. Parents will fight to the end to make sure their child survives, even if that child is not really their child anymore. Recommend!...more

In this horror read, two families are entwined in a 200-year-old curse/pact. Why these people kept producing children knowing the outcome is beyond me, but here we are 200 years later. Poor David gets the crap end of the stick, being clueless all the way to the end. A wonderful horror story with likeable characters. Well, except the fathers. They sucked. Recommend!...more

I find it hard to believe a bunch of teenage, catty girls stuck in this situation would still listen to their teacher or headmistress. Especially if II find it hard to believe a bunch of teenage, catty girls stuck in this situation would still listen to their teacher or headmistress. Especially if I was slowly being eaten alive by some strange disease that made me grow extra parts. I wouldn't have been listening to nobody. I was a hellraiser in high school, so maybe it is my inner rebel talking. Loved the book and some characters. Wish we would have had more info on the Tox and its origins. Solid read if you can suspend belief for awhile....more
