I devoured this book! I have been looking forward to this book since I finished the last installment so I was eager to get my hands on it. I went into this book with extremely high expectations and am happy to report that it did not disappoint. I loved that we get to see both Mercy’s and some of Adam’s points of view in this book.
One of the things that I love about reading a longer-running series like this one is spending time with familiar characters that almost feel like family. I feel like I have been through a lot with Mercy, Adam, and the rest of the gang. In this installment, Adam and Mercy must navigate a new environment as they work to get to the bottom of what is happening. Mercy is still dealing with the effects of the events in the last installment and I felt really bad for both her and Adam. Even with Mercy not quite at her peak, these two are a formidable pair and I had a feeling that they would figure things out.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Lorelei King did a phenomenal job with the narration. She does such a good job of bringing this cast of characters to life. I read a copy of this book as soon as I could get my hands on it but didn’t hesitate to pick up a copy of the audiobook for a quick re-read because I knew that this narrator would be able to take the story to the next level. She adds just the right of emotion to her reading and uses very distinctive voices for each of the key characters. I do believe that her performance added to my enjoyment of this story.
I would highly recommend this book to others. This is a series that I would recommend reading in order since the character relationships that are so important to the story have grown and changed throughout the series. I had such a great time with this novel and hope to spend more time with Mercy and Adam very soon.

I really enjoyed this book! This is the third book in the Blood Fae Druid series and I feel like I have been on quite the journey with Lane, her sisters, and Teddy. This is a series that should definitely be read in order since the characters’ growth over the course of the series is important to the plot. This book had all of the action and excitement that I have come to expect from this entertaining series.
This book opens with a bang when Lane finds herself dealing with a werewolf that appears to have been moonbit. She feels like she needs to get to the bottom of what is really going on. I loved seeing her work with her grandfather and it was fun to see her making a few new connections as well. I especially enjoyed the scenes that Lane shared with Teddy. Their relationship is really solid and I loved the way they were able to support one another. The story definitely kept me guessing and there was plenty of excitement along the way.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This has been a very entertaining series featuring some pretty kick-ass characters that I have grown to love over the series. I cannot wait to read more of this talented author’s work.

I had a great time with this book! I really enjoyed the first book in this series so I was eager to give this second book a try and I am pleased to report that I was not disappointed. Grimsby finally has the job of Auditor that he has always wanted but things are not nearly as glamorous as he had hoped for. Desperate for a real case, he grabs one meant for another Auditor and gets Mayflower to help him out. Of course, things ended up getting much more complicated from there.
There were a lot of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the very end and I grew to like this group of characters even more as the story progressed. I found this book to be very exciting with plenty of action to keep things very interesting. I really liked the magic of the world and thought that those elements added a lot to the overall story. The relationship between Grimsby and Mayflower has evolved a bit and I liked seeing Grimsby become more of a leader.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that James Patrick Cronin did a wonderful job with the story. I have enjoyed this narrator’s work in the past and believe that he has a very pleasant voice. I liked the various voices that he used to help bring the cast of characters to life. I am certain that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This is the second book in The Unorthodox Chronicles which is a series that really should be read in order if at all possible. I found this installment to be very entertaining and I cannot wait for book 3!

I had a great time with this book! I am a huge fan of urban fantasy and am always looking for new books in the genre to try so I was excited to get started with this book. I thought that this was a very good start to a promising series and once I started reading, I did not want to stop. I found this book to be very exciting and I am so glad that I decided to give it a try.
Emiko is from a very powerful family but she is trying to live a quiet life importing antiques. She is known as the Butcher to many because she served as the Blade to the Soong clan. When a blood debt is called in, she is given the task of recovering the Ebony Gate and has her work cut out for her in this exciting tale. I couldn’t wait to see how she would accomplish everything in the time frame she had to work with. I thought that the world-building in this book was very well done and I was quite impressed by the colorful cast of characters, especially Emiko.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Natalie Naudus did a fantastic job with the story. I have had a lot of luck with this narrator in the past and thought that she did a fantastic job of bringing the story to life. I loved the various voices that she used for the cast of characters and I thought that she was able to bring just enough excitement and emotion to her reading. I do believe that her narration added to my enjoyment of this story.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was an incredibly unique and entertaining story featuring characters that were easy to cheer on. I cannot wait to see what adventures Emiko will face in the next installment.

This was even better than I had expected it to be and I went into this book expecting a lot. Kate and Curran make such a fabulous team and it is really no surprise that their quiet life wouldn’t last too long. Something is not only holding a small town near them hostage but it is also demanding that the town sacrifice some of its residents every year. Both Kate and Curran can’t just stand by and do nothing so they fight for the town’s safety in the way that only they can.
I just loved getting the chance to see Kate and Curran back in action and I love the fact that their young son is a force in his own right. Kate is capable of just about anything and her magic in this book feels fresh and exciting. I adore Curran so the fact that sections of the book are told from his point of view was a wonderful bonus. There were a few surprises worked into the story that kept me guessing and I am really excited about the fact that this book left the door open for more to come.
I would highly recommend this book to others. This is the second book in the Kate Daniels: Wilmington Years which takes place after the original Kate Daniels series. I would recommend reading these books in order if at all possible since later books may contain spoilers for those earlier in the series. This book had all of the action and excitement that I hoped for and there were even a few more tender moments between Kate and Curran. I cannot wait to read more from this fantastic writing pair!

This was fantastic! I loved getting the chance to spend a little bit of time with Rachel, Trent, Jenks, and the rest of the gang. Trouble always seems to find Rachel and there is someone determined to get their hands on the focus and “The Mage” is causing trouble at every turn. This installment was just as exciting as I had hoped it would be which kept me glued to the pages.
This is the seventeenth book in The Hollows series which really should be read in order since each book builds on the preceding events. It seemed like Rachel was in the middle of trouble every time she turned around in this book. The werewolf community is at odds and certain individuals will stop at nothing to get their hands on the focus. Rachel is framed for the murder of an important coven member. And the vampires are threatening to send in a new master vamp. I was confident that Rachel would be able to work things out in the end but it didn’t look good for a while. There was plenty of action and enough mystery to keep things really exciting in this installment.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Marguerite Gavin did a great job of bringing this story to life. She has become the voice of these characters over the course of the series and I love how consistent she is with the various voices. I find her voice incredibly pleasant to listen to and had no problems listening to this book for hours at a time. I do believe that her narration only heightened my enjoyment of this book.
I would definitely recommend this series to others. This is a group of characters of very likable characters that have grown on me over the course of the series. The ending of the book has left me very eager to see what might happen next!

Do you know how some people want to talk things to death? Nothing ever seems to get done because they spend all of their time just talking about what they might do without really doing anything.
That is this book. So much talk. So little anything else.
I have been reading this series for a very long time. This is the 29th book in the series and I might have missed 2 or 3 books over the years but I have read close to all of them. I have loved some of the books and have been less enthusiastic about others. I can’t seem to completely give up on Anita and the gang so I keep coming back. I have to say that this is a book that could probably be skipped. It felt like this book was setting up the next book in the series more than anything else.
I was pretty hopeful when the book opened with a scene involving Edward. I tend to enjoy the books when he plays a part but he didn’t have much of a role in the story. I was also excited when a character that I have loved for a long time showed up after a long absence. But there was so much talking. And I needed at least a bit of something else.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Kimberly Alexis did a great job with the narration. I have enjoyed her narration in the past so I knew that the audiobook would be a good choice. I am not sure that I would have finished the book without her narration to get me through.
I won’t be recommending this one to others. I think that long-time fans of the series may be interested in giving this one a try but I hate to say that I found it lacking.

I loved this book! I have been a huge fan of this series for a very long time. I have read the original books in the series twice so I know the story. I had no idea how much I needed Bones’s point of view. But apparently, I did. I started this book in the afternoon and did not put it down. I clung to every word because even though I already knew the story, I didn’t know how Bones saw things.
I would recommend reading this series in order. This is the second book from Bones’s point of view which mirrors One Foot in the Grave which is the same basic story but from Cat’s perspective. At the start of the book, Cat and Bones are apart and I had assumed that it was a tough time for both of them but actually seeing what Bones was going through broke my heart a bit. There were some pretty exciting scenes and I loved seeing just what Bones thought during some pivotal moments.
Will Watt did an amazing job with the audiobook. I think that his voice suits Bones’s character perfectly and I loved how he was able to bring this story to life. I thought that his voice was very pleasant and he added the perfect about of emotion to his reading. This is an audiobook that I know I will be listening to again in the not-so-distant future. I am positive that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.

This was perfection! I can’t even explain how joyful I was to learn that we were getting a new Kate Daniels story. I was so sad when the series ended but understood why it needed to end. The fact that the writing team of Ilona Andrews decided to bless us with a novella/short novel featuring these well-loved characters is nothing short of a dream come true. Of course, I dived into this just as soon as it made its way into my greedy hands and I can honestly tell you that it is even better than you think it will be.
Kate, Curran, and Conlan have moved to Wilmington and hope to live a quiet life. Obviously, this is never going to happen because Kate is Kate and Curran is Curran. When Kate finds out that a child is in danger, of course, she has to help. So much for staying under the radar. Kate leaves with the boy’s father on a rescue mission while Curran and Conlan get their home ready for the fallout. This story wasn’t long but it was a very full story with all of the awesomeness that I have come to expect from this fantastic series.
This book had all of the action and excitement that I had hoped it would. We get to see Kate, Curran, and even Conlan use just about all of their skills. It was great to see Kate and Curran as parents sharing life lessons with their son all while making their world a safer place. The secondary characters were very well-done and often added a bit of humor to the story. This book was everything that I dared to hope for. I am thrilled that we got this opportunity to see Kate, Curran, and even Conlan kick some ass. I hope that we don’t have to wait too long to see these characters again.

Kate, Curran, and Conlan have moved to Wilmington and are hoping to stay under the radar. Of course, that will not happen as soon as Kate learns that someone needs her help. I really enjoyed this book! This is the second book in the Blood Fae Druid series and I would definitely recommend reading the series in order since this book builds on the events from the first book. I have grown to really like this group of characters and the world that they live in. I am so glad that I decided to give this series a try.
This book had all of the action and excitement that I hoped it would. Lane and Teddy’s relationship took a more pivotal role in this story and there are some pretty big developments in that area early in the novel. I have to say that I adore Teddy! Even when he knows what might be best for Lane, he has learned to let her come to those decisions on her own. It was great to see all of the characters working towards a common goal once again even if I was a bit worried about how things might turn out.
This story is told from Lane’s point of view and I really like her character. She is stubborn and sometimes decides to do things the hard way but she is also incredibly loyal and will never give up on those she cares about. I found her to be rather resourceful and I have really enjoyed watching her magic grow as she learns to fully use all of her abilities. I love the fact that the story has a thread of humor woven throughout the story which helped make reading the book a fun experience.
I would definitely recommend this series to fans of urban fantasy. I found this to be an incredibly entertaining story filled with an amazing cast of characters. I cannot wait to read more of this fantastic series!

This was really good! I decided that this would be the year that I finally got caught up with this series. I am slightly mad at myself for waiting so long because it is absolutely fantastic. I seem to be liking Rachel and the rest of the characters more and more with each installment. I found this to be a book that was incredibly hard to put down.
There is wild magic in town and it seems to be tied to Rachel and as bad as it is, it seems like it may get a whole lot worse before it is over. Things are unbalanced in town and Rachel needs to get things under control or the undead vampires may be at risk. I found this story to be incredibly exciting and I loved the fact that this series can still keep me guessing. There is finally some real development in regards to Rachel and Trent’s relationship and it is just kind of nice to see how much these characters have grown over the course of the series.
Marguerite Gavin is the voice of this series. After listening to all of these audiobooks (and I am just going to ignore book 6 which is read by a different narrator), I honestly couldn’t imagine experiencing this series in any other way. The voices that she uses for each of the characters really allow their personalities to shine. I think that she is able to add just the right amount of emotion and excitement to the story to keep listeners glued to their headphones.
I would definitely recommend this series to others. This is a series that really should be read in order since each book builds on the groundwork laid by the earlier books in the series. This is a series that I can see myself reading again. I cannot wait to pick up the next book very soon.

This was really good! It is no secret that I am a big fan of Jim Butcher’s books so I was really eager to see if I would feel the same about his son’s writing. I was quite pleased to find an incredibly entertaining novel with fantastic characters, a lot of action, some humor, and a whole bunch of magic. I am glad that I decided to give this book a try.
Grimsby is a witch but his magic wasn’t quite good enough to get a position with the Auditors so he spends his day doing tricks for kids at Might Magic Donald’s Kingdom. His job may sound bad but it is actually even worse than you can imagine. When a respected Auditor is killed holding a note that says kill Grimsby, his life is turned upside down. He ends up tagging along with Mayflower, also known as the Huntsman, who is trying to figure out who is responsible for his former partner’s death.
I came to love the bumbling hero, Grimsby, and his grumpy partner, Mayflower, before this book drew to a close. This book was rather exciting with enough action to keep the momentum going. There were plenty of times that I believed these two were in over their heads and always had fun watching them figure a way out of these situations. I thought that the magic in the story was very interesting and I have a feeling that we have only scratched the surface of Grimsby’s abilities. I loved that the book was packed full of twists, turns, and impossible situations.
I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this book to fans of urban fantasy. This is the first book in The Unorthodox Chronicles and I am excited to see where the series will go from here. I was quite impressed by this debut author’s style of storytelling and cannot wait to read more of his work.

My feelings about this book are rather mixed. If you have been following my reviews for any amount of time, you probably already know that I am a huge fan of The Dresden Files. Over the course of 17 books, I have fallen in love with Harry Dresden and all of the other characters that make up this series. There was a lot that I liked about this book but there were things that I didn’t care for.
The title of this book is Battle Ground which is probably the perfect title since almost the entire book is a battle. I am all for action but as much as it pains me to say it, this book may have had too much of it. It became almost repetitive at a point and ceased to be as exciting as it might have been if the battle scenes were broken up by some more character-focused scenes. I hate to say that there were times that I was a bit bored by the story.
The biggest issue that I had with this book was how a character’s death was handled. I have been with these characters for a very long time and losing one of them at this point is hard. I did not feel that this character’s death was necessary and the way it was handled didn’t do the character justice. I know that the author probably has a master plan for the series that made this death an essential part of the puzzle but as a reader, I am more than a little upset by the whole thing.
James Marsters continues to do an excellent job with the series. I love the voices that he uses for Harry and the rest of the characters. He added just the right amount of excitement and emotion into his voice to really help to bring the story to life. I am certain that his narration added to my enjoyment of this book.
I would recommend this book to others. I am curious to see where the series will go from here. This book was filled to the brim with excitement and heartache. I look forward to reading more of this series in the future.
Initial Thoughts That was a bit of a letdown. I think that there was just too much battle and not enough of anything else. I liked it but I found my mind wandering in a way that it just hasn't with the other books in the series. Still, there were some pretty important things that happened that should have a big impact on future books in the series. James Marsters did a fantastic job with the narration.

I loved this book! It is no secret that I am a huge fan of the Night Huntress series. I have read all of the books and I have read most of them more than once. I adore this group of characters but as much as I love Cat, my heart belongs to Bones. When I found out that there was a book coming out from Bones’s point of view, I was almost giddy with excitement. I am here to tell you that this book is just as good as I had hoped it would be.
The basic story is one that I was already familiar with. Cat is half-vampire and has made it her mission to kill as many vampires as she can. In her quest to rid the world of vampires, she runs into Bones and realizes that she has met her match. They eventually team up and things only get more exciting from there. In Halfway to the Grave, we see the same basic story from Cat’s point of view but it turns out that Bones has a lot to add.
I absolutely loved seeing things from Bones’s point of view. It is great to see just what he was thinking about during certain pivotal parts of the story. I think that I like Bones even more than I did now that I know exactly when he fell for Cat and how he was looking out for her even when she didn’t realize it. Cat is not a fan of vampires and her hate for all of them is a lot for Bones to overcome but he is up to the job.
I would highly recommend this book to others. This is part of the Night Huntress series and I would recommend reading at least the first book in that series before starting this one so you can experience Cat’s point of view first. I am very hopeful that we will see more books from Bones’s perspective or really any additional books set in this much-loved world.

Initial Thoughts I loved this! I am a big fan of the Night Huntress series and must admit that Bones is a big reason for that. He has always been a favorite character so when I found out that a book was being released from his point of view, I knew that I needed it in my hands as soon as possible. What a great anthology! When I pick up an anthology, I always expect that I will find a story or two that just doesn’t work all that well for me. It is almost an unwritten rule but this collection broke that rule because I liked every single story. Yes, every single one! I did like some stories more than others but there wasn’t any part of this book that I didn’t enjoy reading which was a real treat.
This collection features stories from some of my favorite series written by some of my favorite authors. I loved the story featuring Asil from Patricia Brigg’s Mercy Thompson world. It was a fun surprise to find a story from Oberon’s point of view written by Kevin Hearne. We also got a short story from the world of The Others by Anne Bishop. I was thrilled to get a little bit of The Dresden Files with a story from Toot Toot’s point of view. The stories by Kelley Armstrong and Chloe Neill were also a real treat.
I liked the variety in the collection. There was a little bit of everything from the genre of urban fantasy in this group of stories. I have read quite a few books written by the authors featured in this anthology. While some of the stories were a part of a long-running series, everything in this collection would work as a stand-alone so it is a great way to sample the writing of this group of authors.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. I found this to be a very impressive collection of stories and had a hard time putting the book down because I was having such a good time with it. Urban Fantasy fans will not want to miss this anthology.

This was really good! After reading the first two books in this series, I decided that I needed more of Owl’s adventures. I grabbed a copy of the audiobook and jumped into this third installment in the series. I would definitely recommend reading this series in order since the character relationships have grown and changed during this series. I thought that this book was really exciting and I loved watching Owl face impossible situations.
Owl has no shortage of things to do in this book. Her employer, a dragon, wants her to find the Electric Samurai armor. The IAA is also demanding that she locate the men behind the World Quest game. Of course, there are others who want to stop her from succeeding trying to get in her way. In this installment, Owl works with her incubus boyfriend, Rynn, and I think that they make a great pair. This book was exciting and full of action. I love that Owl is an archaeologist and knows her stuff but since she is a thief, she’ll take it if she needs to.
I believe that this was the first time that I have listened to Christy Romano’s narration and I thought that she did a great job. It did take me some time to get used to the character voices but only because I had created my own voices for those characters as I read the first two books in the series. Once I adjusted, I flew through this audiobook. I thought that she added just the right amount of excitement to the story while handling the humor with ease. I plan to pick up the audiobook for the next book soon.
I would recommend this series to others. This has been a great urban fantasy with fantastic characters, quite a bit of humor, and a unique focus on archaeology. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s work!

I had a great time with this book! I am a fan of this series and was excited to get the chance to revisit one of the communities I have enjoyed in previous books. This book takes to back to the characters we met in Lake Silence and they are facing another dilemma that is going to keep the town busy for a while. It was so easy to slip back into this world and the mystery kept me entertained until I turned the last page.
Vicki decides to hold an event at The Jumble for Trickster Night but when an uninvited guest shows up in an unusual costume shows up things go incredibly wrong. The Crows recognize him right away as Crowbones, the Crowguard boogeyman, and they are scared. Before long, bodies are being found and the local authorities have their work cut out for them. Not only do they need to figure out what is going on but they need to do so in a way that makes the Elders comfortable.
I really enjoyed getting the chance to see Vicki, Grimshaw, Julian, Ilya, and the rest of the gang working together again. The mystery was rather complex and kept me guessing until the very end. There were times that I was really worried about how things might work out for these characters that I have grown to care about. I liked that this book introduced us to a few new Terra Indigene and I really enjoyed getting the chance to see some favorite characters show up for a cameo appearance.

This was great! I have been working on getting caught up with this series for a very long time and it is almost hard to believe that I have finally accomplished that goal. I have had such a fantastic time with my monthly adventures with Rachel, Jenks, Ivy, Trent, and the rest of the gang may feel a little lost while I wait for the next book to be published.
Rachel has more problems to deal with from both vampires and demons. I had no idea how she would be able to get everything to work out but I had faith that she would figure it out. There was a lot to keep up with in this book and a few things happened that should have a significant impact on future installments. I knew that Rachel’s trouble with the master vampire of Cincinnati was far from over and I was quite impressed by how she handled things. I love that we get to see a different side of Al in this book and I was impressed. It is hard to believe that this is the same demon we met at the beginning of the series.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Marguerite Gavin did a fantastic job with the series once again. She is the voice of these characters and I honestly couldn’t imagine experiencing these books any other way. I love the way she is able to bring the characters to life and the consistency of the character voices. I am certain that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
I would highly recommend this series to fans of urban fantasy. Since this is the sixteenth book in the series, I wouldn’t recommend that readers start with this one because you will want to read this series from the beginning. I cannot wait to read more books in this fantastic series!

I enjoyed this book quite a bit. I bought this book years ago and never got around to reading it for one reason or another until now. I really shouldn’t have put it off because it really was a good time. I have read a lot of urban fantasy in my life but this is the first time that I remember reading one that included an archeology angle and I must say that I liked it.
Owl was once a promising archeology student but she found something that she should have and was pushed out of the program. Now she earns a living getting antiques to private buyers, often through theft. The vampires are out to get her from a previous incident and now a dragon wants her to find an artifact for him. Her journey will take her from Vegas to Japan then Bali and she will encounter one bad situation after another.
I found this book to be really exciting. There was a lot of action and the story kept me guessing until the very end. Owl was great and I loved the way that she gave her tasks everything she had. Her vampire attacking cat, Captain, added a lot to the story and I really liked the friends that worked to help Owl with her mission. There was even a bit of romance to keep things really interesting.
I would recommend this book to others. I found it to be a really well-done introduction to a very promising series. I cannot wait to read about Owl’s next adventure.

I loved this book! I have been reading the books set in this world for quite a few years and look forward to each new installment. Each new story feels like a chance to visit with old friends, although Mercy and her friends are a lot more exciting than anyone I know in reality. This book was just as good as I had hoped, and once I started reading it, I did not want to put it down.
Mercy and Adam have their hands full once again. The vampire Wulfe is missing and they must find him and stop the Harvester from terrorizing their territory. There is some new information regarding a pack member that could change the delicate balance with the pack. This book was really exciting and I loved the fact that thirteen books in, this series can still surprise me. This book had all of the action and supernatural presence that kept me glued to the pages.
The pacing of the book was expertly done. The action in the story was nicely balanced with quieter moments that illustrated the strength of the bond between Adam and Mercy. It is so nice to read a series with such a solid relationship at its core. I also loved seeing the bonds between the members of the pack and seeing them work together to achieve a common goal. I was very happy to see Tad play a bigger part in this story and just really loved checking in with all of the people important to Mercy.
I would highly recommend this book to others. This is the thirteenth book in the series and I would recommend reading the series in order since each book builds on the events from the previous installments. This book is one that I know I will be reading again and cannot wait to read more of this author’s work.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Berkley Publishing Group.
Initial Thoughts I loved this! I am amazed by how this series just seems to keep getting better and better. At this point, I am in love with this group of characters and am invested in seeing things work out well for them. In this book, Adam and Mercy have their hands full. The vampire Wulfe is missing and they must find him and stop the Harvester from terrorizing their territory. There was a lot of excitement that kept the story interesting and some quieter moments that illustrated the strength of the bond between Adam and Mercy. There were a few developments that should have an impact on future books as well. ...more
