I found this to be a fun, sweet, and sexy story. This was one of those books that I seemed to like the characters more and more as I read further into the story. By the end of the story, I was cheering for things to work out for Quinn and J.R. which is exactly what I want to happen when I read a romance novel. This book is the third book in the In Focus series but I read it as a stand alone with no difficulty.
Quinn is going on a cruise with his best friend Jess during the last spring break before his college graduation. Quinn has spent his life playing it safe and following the rules. He is looking forward to having fun on this cruise. The cast of a reality TV show, Trip League, is also on the cruise which just adds to the excitement for Jess and Quinn.
J.R. is almost at the end of his contract to be on the reality show, Trip League, and he is ready for it to be over. He signed a contract to be on the show as a straight man and is ready for the show to be over so he can finally be the bisexual man he really is. He is portrayed on the show as a tough guy who is often mean to others but that isn't who he really is in reality. When he sees Quinn on the boat, he can't make himself look away.
I liked Quinn and J.R. together in this book. I thought it was great how they had an instant attraction to each other and how Quinn had been drawn to J.R. just from the television show. I thought that each of these characters seemed stronger together than they did apart. I liked how they were able to open up to each other and seemed to understand each other from the very beginning. The chemistry between them was intense and played out well on the page.
I thought that the reality TV show added an interesting twist to the story. I found the scenes when they were trying to be together but having to hide from the cameras to be well done. I thought it was great how creative they had to be to find time to be together and the fact that friends helped it happen was even better.
I would recommend this one to fans of m/m romance. I don't tend to read a lot of m/m romance but I have enjoyed the ones that I have picked up. This was a very well done story and I wouldn't hesitate to read more books written by Megan Erickson in the future.

I have to admit that I am a little torn about this rating. Overall I liked it and read it in less than 24 hours BUT I think it had a few problems. This book is the second book in the Chaos Theory series and this is a series that you really need to read in order. I honestly do not think that anyone would enjoy this book without having first read The Wicked We Have Done. I really try to rate book simply on my enjoyment without over analyzing anything. I went with a 4 star rating because I feel that the good in this book outweighs the not so good.

The Good
I absolutely loved the sexual tension between Casey and Evalyn in this book. Heck, I felt frustrated right along with Evalyn. I think that this section of the book really cemented their relationship and feelings for each at least in my mind. I felt for Casey during his reunion with Evalyn at the end of the story. I also liked that we got to see Evalyn struggle through this situation. She does not handle everything well and we see her turn to alcohol and shut everyone out in order to cope. The friendship between Valerie and Evalyn seemed very genuine as well.

The Not So Good
Haven't I read this somewhere before? What book series is it where the final participants escape the test only to be returned during the second book? Oh yeah, and of course the male lead wants to accompany the female lead. Many parts of this book are quite different but there is more overlap than I would have liked to have seen. This really was my main issue with this book. I did also think that the book sometimes jumped from one section to the next. I would have liked to see the flow of the book be much smoother.
I would recommend this book to those that enjoyed the first novel in the series. I plan to continue reading Sarah Harian's work including the rest of the series.

*Please note that this review may contain spoilers for the first book in the series.*
This novella is part of the Chaos Theory series. I think that readers who read and enjoyed the first book in the series, The Wicked We Have Done, will also enjoy this novella which is told from Valerie's point of view.
Valerie was one of the more intriguing characters in the first book of the series so I was very interested to see things from her perspective. While this novella is rather short, it packs quite a bit of story into its pages. We learn about Valerie before anything happened. We see her with her twin sister Veda and find out exactly what happened to send Valerie to the Compass Room.
The story then jumps to the Compass Room and we see things from Valerie's perspective. Much of the section within the Compass Room focuses on Valerie and Jace's relationship and the time that they are alone together.
The story jumps once again to the period of time after the Compass Room and we see how Valerie is coping with everything that has happened.
I think that this novella jumps from section to section without much of a link. I enjoyed seeing Valerie's perspective because I already knew the story from the first book. I do not recommend reading this before book 1 because I think that it would be hard to follow and it would give away quite a bit of the plot of the first book.
While I don't thing that this novella gave a whole lot of new information, I would recommend it to readers who enjoyed the first book. ...more

5 Stars!
I am shocked by how much I ended up liking this book. I went into the book not expecting much but I ended up loving this book. The plot was a lot more complex than I had expected. I found the characters to be wonderfully done. I found myself really wanting to see them work everything out by the middle of the book.
Pixie, Sarah to most people, has moved into her aunt Ellen's inn to work for the summer. She is in the same wing of the hotel and the other live in worker, Levi. They start out seeming to dislike one another and arguing quite a bit. As the book progressed their history together was slowly revealed so that you learned that there was a lot more going on between these two people. Both Levi and Pixie are actually in a lot of pain and as that pain comes to the surface they can start to deal with it. Since the book is told from alternating view points, you do get to see what each is thinking and feeling. These were two characters that belong together.
I think that this book dealt with some tough issues quite well. The guilt that each character carried with them seemed very genuine and not at all overdone. The chemistry was fantastic but the book was not one sex scene after another which is truly what I had feared it would be before reading the book. There are a couple of steamy scenes and those are very well done. In the end I found this to a plot driven book focused on healing and growth with characters I found myself caring about.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. It looks like this book is the first in a planned series but there were no cliffhangers and for that I am incredibly thankful. I plan to read future books in this series and other works by Chelsea Fine. ...more
