This was fantastic! I have a huge soft spot for this series and look forward to each new release so I was eager to pick up this newest book. I went into this book with high expectations, and am happy to report that they were all met. The mystery kept me guessing until the very end and there were some tense moments worked into the story. Veronica threw herself into solving the mystery, just as I expected, and Stoker may have made me swoon a time or two. Overall, this was a highly entertaining story.
Stoker is asked to make Lord Rosemorran’s new acquisition, a wax woman, look more lifelike by adding a mechanism to make it look like she is breathing. When he cuts into the wax, he learns it is a real corpse instead of a wax model. Stoker and Veronica feel compelled to discover the identity of the woman and learn how she died. They find themselves in several unusual situations, and some danger, as they work to solve this mystery.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Angèle Masters did a great job with the narration. This is the second time I have listened to a book in this series and I think she captures Veronica’s personality through her reading incredibly well. I wasn’t completely sold on the voice that she uses for Stoker but that is probably because the voice that she uses doesn’t match the voice in my head. Her voice was very pleasant, and I wanted to listen to this story for hours at a time.
I would highly recommend this book to others. I recommend reading the series in order if possible since some events from previous books are mentioned in this story, and the relationships between the characters grow and develop throughout the series. I had a great time with this book and cannot wait to see what adventures Veronica and Stoker may find next.

I really liked this book! I have been wanting to read this series for a long time and must admit that I have been more than a little intimidated by just how big the series is. I read the first book in the series not quite two years ago and I am realizing that I need to pick up the pace if I want any chance of catching up with the series before I die of old age so I am ready to start working on it. I am ready to fully embrace this series and was excited to jump into this second book in the series.
Eve is investigating a murder and the victim has a lot of connections to some pretty important people. Before she can solve the crime, she learns that another victim has been found. I enjoyed trying to figure out who was responsible for this string of murders along with Eve. The futuristic setting was fun. I never would have imagined that a detective would need to interview an android during their investigation. I really enjoyed the developments in Eve and Roarke’s relationship.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Susan Ericksen did a fantastic job with the narration of this book. I love the accent that she uses when Roarke is speaking and I think that her voice fits the rest of the characters quite well. She has a very pleasant voice that was easy to listen to for hours at a time. I do believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of the book.
I would recommend this book to others. This is the second book in the In Death series but it could be read as a stand-alone. Readers of the series will enjoy watching the character relationships grow and change over the course of the series. I am looking forward to starting the next book in the series very soon.
Initial Thoughts I thought that this was really good! I have had this series on my tbr forever and I decided that this is the year that I am finally going to start making a dent in it after listening to the first book a couple of years ago. I was hooked by this mystery right away and couldn't wait to see who was responsible. I like Eve a lot and Roarke even a bit more. I listened to the audiobook and thought that the narrator did a fantastic job with the story. I cannot wait to start the next book!

I really enjoyed this book! A few years ago, I read the first five books in The Gardella Vampire Hunters series and loved them. As soon as I discovered that there was a spin-off series set during the Jazz Age, I made a mental note to circle back and read those books just as soon as I had the opportunity. Since I have a bit of flexibility in my reading schedule and a trial membership to Kindle Unlimited, it seemed that this would be the perfect time to get started reading these books.
Macey is the many times great granddaughter of Victoria from the initial 5 books and knows little about her family. She lives a simple life of working as a librarian during the day, renting her own room, and occasionally going out with friends in the evening. She comes across a book about venators (vampire hunters) and soon a whole new world opens up to her. She soon needs to make a decision about whether she wants to continue with life as she knew it before or if she wants to join the ranks of those fighting evil.
I liked Macey right away, probably not as much as Victoria, but that’s okay. This book was exciting and there was enough action to keep me glued to the pages. I felt bad for Macey because the situation that she found herself in was not of her making. The book did have the beginning of what I suspect will develop into a full fledged love triangle but I could be wrong. The 20’s Chicago setting was well done and I love the fact that Al Capone himself played a role in the story.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. You could probably start with this book since it is the first in the spin off series but I would recommend starting with the first book in the original series, The Rest Falls Away, if at all possible. Trust me, they are great and you don’t want to miss them! I cannot wait to read more of this exciting series!
Initial Thoughts Oh, this was fun! I really enjoyed the first 5 books in this series and have wanted to read this spin off series for several years. I liked the 20's setting and enjoyed getting to know this new cast of characters, along with one more familiar one. There was plenty of action and some twists that kept me glued to the pages. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I really enjoyed this book! This is the second book in the Blood Fae Druid series and I would definitely recommend reading the series in order since this book builds on the events from the first book. I have grown to really like this group of characters and the world that they live in. I am so glad that I decided to give this series a try.
This book had all of the action and excitement that I hoped it would. Lane and Teddy’s relationship took a more pivotal role in this story and there are some pretty big developments in that area early in the novel. I have to say that I adore Teddy! Even when he knows what might be best for Lane, he has learned to let her come to those decisions on her own. It was great to see all of the characters working towards a common goal once again even if I was a bit worried about how things might turn out.
This story is told from Lane’s point of view and I really like her character. She is stubborn and sometimes decides to do things the hard way but she is also incredibly loyal and will never give up on those she cares about. I found her to be rather resourceful and I have really enjoyed watching her magic grow as she learns to fully use all of her abilities. I love the fact that the story has a thread of humor woven throughout the story which helped make reading the book a fun experience.
I would definitely recommend this series to fans of urban fantasy. I found this to be an incredibly entertaining story filled with an amazing cast of characters. I cannot wait to read more of this fantastic series!

I enjoyed this book and the series overall. This is the sixth and final book in the Scorpius Syndrome series and I was eager to see how everything would wrap up. I have been very curious about Marcus since he first appeared in the series so I was excited to finally get his story. Penelope was the perfect match for Marcus so it was easy to get behind the romance in the story. I am so glad that I finally took the time to tackle this entertaining series.
Before we met Marcus, he spent time as a prisoner enduring a series of experiments run on him. This experience not only changed his personality but also stole his memories. He is determined to keep Penelope safe and will do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. I really enjoyed watching Penny start to connect with Marcus on a deeper level. Penny is a busy woman since she is the only doctor around and she needs to find a way to help women carry a pregnancy to term as soon as possible. This story was exciting with a nice blend of romance and action.
Michael Pauley did a wonderful job with the narration of this book. I think that he was a good choice to narrate this series. The voices that he uses for both the male and female characters were very well done. I had no problem listening to this book for hours at a time and believe that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.
I would definitely recommend this series to others. I really liked the end-of-the-world scenario and enjoyed getting to know all of the characters. The series really does need to be read in order since each installment builds on the events from previous books. I thought that this book brought the series to a very satisfying conclusion. I hope to read more of Rebecca Zanetti’s work very soon!
Initial Thoughts I enjoyed this book and the series overall. I like end of the world scenarios so this series appealed to me from the start. I have been very curious about Marcus since he was introduced so I was eager to get his story. There were some pretty big issues to wrap up for the series in this book and they were addressed, although a little too quickly at the end of the book in my opinion. The narration was well done which added to my enjoyment.

So I thought this book was the first book in a series but it turns out it’s actually the second book in The Crown’s Wolves series. Oops. It turned out okay though since it read perfectly fine as a stand-alone even though there were a few loose ends that I am sure will be picked up again later in the series. I found this to be a delightful read and was hooked by the story right away. Ky and Vivi were great characters and I was eager to see how things would work out for them.
Ky and Vivi were both held captive and kept under the influence of others. They formed a lasting connection while in a very bad situation and drew strength from each other. They really were perfect for each other and seemed to be exactly what the other needed. Ky and his brothers make quite the team and I thought it was great to see them work together. The story had quite a bit of action in addition to the romance and I loved the fact that the story took a few turns that I didn’t see coming.
I would not hesitate to recommend this book to fans of paranormal romance. The romance in the book was really solid and I really liked the characters from the start. I thought that the magic system was very well done and somewhat unique. Now that I have read this book, I want to go back and tackle the first book in the series. I will definitely be looking out for more of this author’s work in the future.

I have a fantastic time with this book! I listened to the entire book in a single day, This review can also be found at https://carolesrandomlife.com/
I have a fantastic time with this book! I listened to the entire book in a single day, which is somewhat unusual for me. I was enjoying the book so much that I didn’t want to stop listening which is such a great feeling. I loved the sense of humor present throughout the book and I really enjoyed spending time with all of the characters. Apparently, this is the third and final installment in the Sunshine Vicram Trilogy and while I am sad to see the series end, I must say that it was a great finale.
Sunshine once again has her hands full. There is a girl found in a ravine that has been left for dead which leads Sunshine to discover that other girls may have also gone missing. Despite her promise not to do any investigating, Auri is once again trying to solve crimes. Plus there is the small issue of Sunshine’s relationship with Levi. I was so glad to finally see things getting resolved between Levi and Sunshine and was happy with how it worked out. I thought that this book was very exciting at times and I loved that the action was balanced out with a nice dose of humor.
Lorelei King is one of my favorite narrators and I thought that she did an amazing job with this story. I really like all of the character voices that she uses to help bring the story to life. I thought that her delivery of the funnier moments of the story was perfectly done and I liked that she was able to add more excitement to the action-packed scenes. I do feel that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This has been such a fun series with a lot of laughs, some romance, great characters, and solid mysteries. My only complaint is that it doesn’t look like there are any more books planned in this series. If that changes, I will be first in line to get my hands on a copy of the next book in this series.

I enjoyed this book! I have been enjoying myself as I have worked my way through Rebecca Zanetti’s Scorpius Syndrome series this year. This is a series that I would recommend reading in order if at all possible since so much of the story builds upon the events from previous books. I was hooked by this installment right away and couldn’t wait to see how things would work out.
April is a character that I have been eager to learn more about since she was introduced at the beginning of the series. Things have not been easy for April and I really wanted to see good things come her way. Damon was very easy to like. He is genuinely a nice guy who is willing to put himself in danger to protect others. I thought that they made a great pair working undercover at the cult. This story had a lot of really emotional scenes that really got to me. I thought that April and Damon were a perfect match and was eager to see them form a connection.
Michael Pauley did a wonderful job with the narration of this book. He has narrated all of the books in the series so he has become the voice of these characters for me. I think that he has a great range and is able to portray both male and female characters quite well. I liked that he is able to add some emotion and excitement to his reading. I am certain that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.

I really enjoyed this book! If you have been following my reviews, you know that I have been working my way through Rebecca Zanetti’s books and you can call me a fan at this point. I am especially drawn to this series which is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a deadly bacteria. This is the fourth book in the series and I would recommend reading this series in order since events from earlier books come into play in this book. I found this to be a very entertaining and exciting story.
Maureen Shadow is a Biotechnology Engineer whose skills are more important than ever now that what’s left of the world’s population is struggling to survive. Greyson Storm is the leader of a group of mercenaries who happen to be at odds with the Vanguard group that includes Maureen’s brother, Raze. Despite the fact that Greyson originally kidnaps Maureen, the pair are eventually drawn to each other and she even agrees to spend more time with his group later on. I thought that Maureen and Greyson made a great pair and I liked the chemistry between them. As expected, the book has a lot of action and excitement and I had a great time watching this group of characters navigate another set of obstacles.
Michael Pauley does a wonderful job with this series. I am liking his narration more and more with each book that I listen to. I thought that he does a great job with the various character voices including both males and females. He adds just the right amount of emotion into his voice to help take the story to the next level. I do believe that his narration added to my enjoyment f this story.
I would recommend this series to others. I have enjoyed meeting each of the featured couples in the series and Maureen and Greyson were no exception. I am looking forward to listening to the next book very soon.
This was great! I really enjoyed the first two books in the Rebels and Redcoats series This review can also be found at https://carolesrandomlife.com/
This was great! I really enjoyed the first two books in the Rebels and Redcoats series so when I was offered an opportunity to listen to the prequel, I jumped at the chance. This book is a prequel, so it works fine as a stand-alone even though some characters will pop up again later in the series. Once I started listening to this book, it didn’t take very long before I was hooked. I really had a fantastic time listening to this historical fiction novel filled with fantastic characters.
I loved India and Merrick. At the start of the story, India goes through some horrific things and comes close to losing her life before Merrick is able to rescue her. She proved to be incredibly resilient because I doubt many would have been able to handle things as well as she did. Merrick had his own challenges after finding himself captaining a warship after the death of his superior. I liked these two together and thought that they complimented each other quite well.
The story had plenty of excitement. They wanted to bring the individuals responsible for harming India and killing others to justice. They didn’t always agree on how to go about things but they usually had the same goals. There were several plot threads that kept me guessing and enough action to keep the story moving forward.
The narration was phenomenal. As good as the story is, it is the narration that takes everything to the next level. There is a large cast of characters in the story and this group of narrators did an amazing job in bringing them to life. I loved that there were some sound effects in addition to the narrators’ voices and thought that it helped take the production to the next level. I really liked all of the voices used and thought that the narrators did a wonderful job of adding just the right amount of emotion into their reading.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This book had everything that I was looking for: a great historical setting, wonderful characters, a compelling romance, action and adventure, and a mystery that kept me guessing. I cannot wait to read more of this author’s work in the future.

This was fantastic! I have been a huge fan of Sarina Bowen’s writing since I first picked up her work about 4 years ago. One book and I was hooked. I have read quite a few of her books since then and she hasn’t let me down yet. I went into this book with pretty high expectations and they were all met. Vera and Ian were great characters and this romance had all of the swoony moments that I had hoped for.
Ian and Vera are neighbors and they don’t seem to get along with each other all that well. They are both a part of a group of friends taking a trip to Italy and they happen to be the only two people on the trip that are single. Ian plays hockey on the Brooklyn Bruisers team and is needing to work on his image. Vera is a fashion consultant. On the surface, these two have nothing in common but once they started getting to know each other I thought that their personalities fit together perfectly.
I loved Ian and Vera together. Even when Vera wasn’t completely comfortable with a situation, she always knew that she could trust Ian. Ian wanted Vera to be happy and didn’t want to get in the way of her plans. The chemistry between them was incredibly well done. These two had no problems in the bedroom once Vera gained some confidence. It was so much fun to see them grow together.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This book is part of the Brooklyn series but reads perfectly fine as a stand-alone. Ian and Vera were such a great couple and I had a great time seeing them learn how to be together. Those last few scenes in the book were spectacular. I cannot wait to read more of this very talented author’s work.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working my way through this series this year. Meeting each of these roommates and watching them fall in love has been such a wonderfully pleasant distraction. I love these roommates and the women that have found a place in their lives. Of course, I was excited to pick up this final novel in the series and see how things are working out for each of the couples. I didn’t like this one nearly as much as I did the other books in the series but I did enjoy it enough to read it cover to cover in a single day.
In this book, we get to see a proposal, a pregnancy, a wedding, and a pact. Each couple takes center stage for a portion of the book but also appear in the other sections since they are all still incredibly close friends. I wouldn’t say that there were any real surprises in the book but it was still a lot of fun to read. This book had all of the humor, romance, and friendship bonds that I have grown to expect from the series. The creepy doll that links the stories was a little strange in my opinion but didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the book.
I would recommend this book to others. I would recommend reading this book after the other books in the series if at all possible since having some background on the various couples would be beneficial. I will definitely be reading more of this author’s work very soon.

This was fantastic! This book has so much going for it including great characters, plenty of action, an interesting magic-filled world, and a bit of romance. I was hooked by the story early on and hated to set the book aside. I am so glad that I decided to give this book a try!
Lane is a hybrid, half sun fae and half moon fae. This is not looked upon favorably by others so she left her fae home to start a detective agency near Las Vegas. Along with her sisters, she takes on a variety of jobs to get by. Things get a little crazy when she comes across a bag of stolen sun shards during the course of a job and the stakes end up being higher than she could have ever imagined. She must sacrifice everything to save the home and people that she left behind.
I thought that this book was a whole lot of fun. Lane was a fantastic character and I loved seeing her work through one situation after another. There were a lot of discoveries made during the course of this story and I enjoyed all of the surprises that popped up along the way. I thought that this one was fun. This book has been on my radar since it was first published. The cover redesign grabbed my attention again so I decided to move this book to the top of my tbr pile. Reed and Darcy were great together and I loved the chemistry that they shared. I thought that parts of the book were rather funny and had a really good time with it in the end. I am so glad that I finally got around to giving this book a try.
Reed is at the top of the list on the Bad Bachelors app. This is an app where women can rate the men they date and Reed has an abundance of negative reviews. This has had an impact on not only his dating life but his professional life as well. Darcy is a tattooed librarian that almost made it down the aisle a year ago and is having trouble trusting someone again. Both Darcy and Reed have some family issues that they are dealing with which were very relatable. These two were great together. I wanted to see things work out for them and felt like they were meant to be.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Kendall Taylor did a great job with this story. I thought that she portrayed a wide range of emotions through her reading. The character voices that she used in her narration were distinctive and believable. I feel that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.

I have really been enjoying this series of short romances and this book was no different. It was easy to falling love with Sawyer and Bristol and I was eager to see them figure out how to make their relationship work. I found this to be a really well-done quick listen that told a very complete story. I am so glad that I decided to give this book a try.
Bristol and Sawyer were great together. They had fantastic chemistry and seemed to be perfect for each other. Sawyer is a pitcher for the same team that Bristol’s brother plays for. Bristol is the only member of the Swift family that doesn’t care for baseball but that doesn’t stop sparks from flying once she spends some time with Sawyer. Sawyer has a very complex past and wants to make a difference for those going through some of the things he went through as a child. I thought that Sawyer and Bristol both had big hearts and I loved seeing them work together.
Aaron Shedlock and CJ Bloom did a great job with the narration of this story. I thought that their voices complimented each other very well and I thought that they both did a great job in bringing this story to life. I thought that they both did a good job with both the male and female voices in the story. I feel like their narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.

My feelings about this book are rather mixed. If you have been following my reviews forThis review can also be found at https://carolesrandomlife.com/
My feelings about this book are rather mixed. If you have been following my reviews for any amount of time, you probably already know that I am a huge fan of The Dresden Files. Over the course of 17 books, I have fallen in love with Harry Dresden and all of the other characters that make up this series. There was a lot that I liked about this book but there were things that I didn’t care for.
The title of this book is Battle Ground which is probably the perfect title since almost the entire book is a battle. I am all for action but as much as it pains me to say it, this book may have had too much of it. It became almost repetitive at a point and ceased to be as exciting as it might have been if the battle scenes were broken up by some more character-focused scenes. I hate to say that there were times that I was a bit bored by the story.
The biggest issue that I had with this book was how a character’s death was handled. I have been with these characters for a very long time and losing one of them at this point is hard. I did not feel that this character’s death was necessary and the way it was handled didn’t do the character justice. I know that the author probably has a master plan for the series that made this death an essential part of the puzzle but as a reader, I am more than a little upset by the whole thing.
James Marsters continues to do an excellent job with the series. I love the voices that he uses for Harry and the rest of the characters. He added just the right amount of excitement and emotion into his voice to really help to bring the story to life. I am certain that his narration added to my enjoyment of this book.
I would recommend this book to others. I am curious to see where the series will go from here. This book was filled to the brim with excitement and heartache. I look forward to reading more of this series in the future.
Initial Thoughts That was a bit of a letdown. I think that there was just too much battle and not enough of anything else. I liked it but I found my mind wandering in a way that it just hasn't with the other books in the series. Still, there were some pretty important things that happened that should have a big impact on future books in the series. James Marsters did a fantastic job with the narration.

I loved this book! I am convinced that the writing pair of Ilona Andrews can do no wrong. That is the only explanation that makes any sense. This book had everything that I had hoped it would have and I enjoyed every moment that I spent reading it. The story was exciting, unexpected, funny, and sometimes touching. I am so glad that I decided to pick up this entertaining novel.
Catalina has a lot of problems to juggle in this book. There is a Russian Prince causing trouble and the Warden of Texas has suffered an attack. She needs to find out who is behind it all and try to figure out how to find a resolution that will keep everyone safe. There were some pretty big surprises worked into this story that left me speechless. I loved the magic and action in this story which kept me turning pages as quickly as possible.
It was great catching up with all of the key players in this series. Catalina and Alessandra are a wonderful couple and I loved how dedicated they were to each other. I love the way we have watched these characters grow as individuals and in their powers over the course of this series. The story was really serious at times but it had a nice dose of humor sprinkled through the book as well.
I would highly recommend this series to others. This is the sixth book in the Hidden Legacy series which I would read in order if at all possible. I do hope that we see more books set in this world featuring this group of characters at some point in the future.

This was great! The book grabbed my attention right away and as each new body (or body part) was discovered my interest only grew. There were plenty of things happening at any given time in the story that kept me glued to the pages. I tend to like mysteries that get into the science of solving a case and while these books don’t dig too deep I do like the part that forensic anthropology plays in the story. This book was definitely worth picking up.
When a human eyeball is delivered to Tempe’s home at the start of the book, I knew that this was going to be an interesting case. As new cases pop up, Tempe senses a connection and it turns out that there have been several recent cases resembling ones she has worked on in the past. As the cases pile up, they are getting closer to Tempe and it appears to be personal. The fact that Tempe can’t get a hold of her daughter, Katy, who seems to be going through a rough patch only adds more stress to the situation.
I must admit that I figured out who the culprit was long before Tempe or Detective Slidell did but that didn’t lessen my enjoyment of the story. I was rather worried about Katy and thought that it was quite possible that Tempe would get herself in a dangerous situation before everything was solved. I was glad to see that Ryan played a role in the story even though I would have liked to see him make an appearance a bit sooner.
I thought that this was a very entertaining read. The Tempe in these books is very different than the character in the television show. This is the 21st book in the Temperance Brennan series but I think that it could work as a stand-alone for readers new to the series. I definitely plan to read more of Kathy Reich's work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Scribner via NetGalley.
Initial Thoughts This was great! The book grabbed my attention right away and as each new body (or body part) was discovered my interest only grew. I was worried about Tempe's daughter, Katy. The fact that the cases that Tempe and Slidell are investigating looked like others they have worked on in the past was also concerning. I did figure out who was responsible for everything before the big reveal but that did not lessen my enjoyment. ...more
Initial Thoughts This was a really good introduction to the series. I was a bit in shock at how this illness was spread and was eager to see what Nora Initial Thoughts This was a really good introduction to the series. I was a bit in shock at how this illness was spread and was eager to see what Nora and Deacan would be able to do. I liked this pair together and thought that they had a lot of chemistry. I listened to the audiobook and thought that Arika Rapson did a great job with the narration. I am looking forward to reading more of the series very soon.
