This was really good! I have been a fan of Sandra Brown’s writing for a very long time and look forward to each new release so I was excited to have the chance to read her latest book. I was surprised to learn that this book dealt with a mass shooting but Sandra Brown handled the topic well as I trusted she would. The story took me on a bit of an emotional roller coaster since it was heartbreaking at times, and exciting at others, with just enough romance worked in to keep things very interesting.
My heart broke for some of the characters quickly after starting the book. Elle and Calder were both at the county fair when the shooting occurred and the danger may not be over. Everyone present when the shooting occurred lost something but Elle’s loss felt incredibly profound. Both Elle and Calder are committed to finding out who is responsible for everything that has happened. The story got very exciting as they encountered one dangerous situation after another while the police tried to find who was responsible for the tragedy. I liked the chemistry between Elle and Caulder and thought that they worked well as a couple.
I listened to the audiobook and thought that Kyf Brewer did a great job with the story. I believe that this is the first time that I have listened to this narrator’s work and wouldn’t hesitate to pick up other books that he narrates. I found his voice to be very pleasant and thought that he was able to add just the right amount of emotion to his reading.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be quite the page-turner and I loved that the mystery kept me guessing until the very end. The story ended on a hopeful note which I also appreciated. I cannot wait to read more of this talented author’s work in the future.

I enjoyed this book! I have been enjoying myself as I have worked my way through Rebecca Zanetti’s Scorpius Syndrome series this year. This is a series that I would recommend reading in order if at all possible since so much of the story builds upon the events from previous books. I was hooked by this installment right away and couldn’t wait to see how things would work out.
April is a character that I have been eager to learn more about since she was introduced at the beginning of the series. Things have not been easy for April and I really wanted to see good things come her way. Damon was very easy to like. He is genuinely a nice guy who is willing to put himself in danger to protect others. I thought that they made a great pair working undercover at the cult. This story had a lot of really emotional scenes that really got to me. I thought that April and Damon were a perfect match and was eager to see them form a connection.
Michael Pauley did a wonderful job with the narration of this book. He has narrated all of the books in the series so he has become the voice of these characters for me. I think that he has a great range and is able to portray both male and female characters quite well. I liked that he is able to add some emotion and excitement to his reading. I am certain that his narration added to my overall enjoyment of this book.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. This has been an entertaining series filled with great characters and quite a bit of action. I cannot wait to pick up the next book to see how the series wraps up.

I really enjoyed this book! If you have been following my reviews, you know that I have been working my way through Rebecca Zanetti’s books and you can call me a fan at this point. I am especially drawn to this series which is set in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by a deadly bacteria. This is the fourth book in the series and I would recommend reading this series in order since events from earlier books come into play in this book. I found this to be a very entertaining and exciting story.
Maureen Shadow is a Biotechnology Engineer whose skills are more important than ever now that what’s left of the world’s population is struggling to survive. Greyson Storm is the leader of a group of mercenaries who happen to be at odds with the Vanguard group that includes Maureen’s brother, Raze. Despite the fact that Greyson originally kidnaps Maureen, the pair are eventually drawn to each other and she even agrees to spend more time with his group later on. I thought that Maureen and Greyson made a great pair and I liked the chemistry between them. As expected, the book has a lot of action and excitement and I had a great time watching this group of characters navigate another set of obstacles.
Michael Pauley does a wonderful job with this series. I am liking his narration more and more with each book that I listen to. I thought that he does a great job with the various character voices including both males and females. He adds just the right amount of emotion into his voice to help take the story to the next level. I do believe that his narration added to my enjoyment f this story.
I would recommend this series to others. I have enjoyed meeting each of the featured couples in the series and Maureen and Greyson were no exception. I am looking forward to listening to the next book very soon.

I really enjoyed this book! I have been a fan of Sandra Brown’s writing for a very long time. I haven’t come close to reading all of her work but I have enjoyed every book that I have had the chance to read. I read to be entertained and Sandra Brown never fails to deliver on that count. When I picked up this newest book, I was hooked immediately and hated it whenever I was forced to put it down.
Zach Bridger is a former NFL quarterback. His ex-wife, Rebecca, was left in a vegetative state after a run-in with 3 men led by a man named Eban. Kate is a prosecutor who would like to see Eban face charges that match the severity of his crime. Zach and Kate end up working together to try to get to the bottom of things but matters get complicated very quickly. There was plenty of action and quite a few surprises in this story which kept me glued to the pages.
I liked the characters in this story right away. I thought that Zach and Kate made a great pair and I really liked watching them get to know each other over the course of this story. I thought that their relationship felt really authentic and the chemistry between them was very well done. I thought that the secondary characters were also very well done and I even liked getting to see things from the villain’s point of view.
I would definitely recommend this book to others. I found this to be a very entertaining and exciting story that left me wondering what I would do if I were in the character’s situation. I hope to read more of this talented author’s work very soon.

This was very good. I haven’t read a ton of books written by Nora Roberts but I have had good luck with those that I have read so I went into this book rather hopeful. The story does start off with a bang and drew me in immediately and before I knew it I was invested in the characters. I am so glad that I decided to pick up this incredibly entertaining book.
We meet Adrian as a 7-year-old child as the father she has never met assaults her family. When the book draws to a close, we see her as a responsible adult. This book doesn’t nicely fit into any single genre since it is part coming of age, part romance, and part suspense. Adrian grows up to follow in her mother’s footsteps by creating her own line of yoga workout videos. Unfortunately, she has captured the attention of a stalker who sends her threatening poetry on a regular basis.
I liked Adrian a lot. She was a really well-adjusted individual and I thought that she was genuinely kind to those around her. She was incredibly close to her grandparents and her core group of friends and I really liked what they added to the story. The romance was later in the book than I would have expected but I really liked the way that it developed and I thought that it felt very real. The mystery doesn’t really pick up speed until the later parts of the book but I did appreciate the excitement it brought to the book.
January LaVoy did an amazing job with the narration of this book. I thought that she handled a large cast of varied characters with ease and I loved the emotion that she added to the story. I really felt that she brought this story to life and I believe that her performance added to my overall enjoyment of the book.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that the characters in this book were incredibly well done and I enjoyed the time that I spent with them. I will definitely be reading more from this talented author soon.

I had a lot of fun with this book! This is the sixth book in Piper J. Drake's True Heroes series. I have only read one other book in this series and I thought that this book worked well as a stand-alone. I found this to be a really quick read and was able to read the book cover to cover in a few hours. I was looking for an exciting romance when I picked up this book and I felt like it delivered.
At the start of the story, Ying Yue has just been rescued after spending weeks with her kidnappers. Zu agrees to escort Ying Yue to the hotel that her father is currently staying at while in Hawaii on business. Once they pull up to the hotel, they realize that there is a problem and know the Ying Yue will be safer under Zu's protection. Zu and his team work with Ying Yue's father's team to ensure that everyone stays safe and to bring the kidnappers to justice.
I really liked Zu and Ying Yue and thought that they made a great pair. I thought that their personalities meshed together very well and the chemistry between them was very well done. I liked that they were both reasonable and competent individuals working towards a common goal. I also really liked the other members of Zu's team and thought that they added a lot to the story. I really appreciated the fact that the dogs in this series play an important role in the story. Buck was a great partner and I loved seeing his interactions with Zu, Ying Yue, and the rest of the characters.
I would recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. I found this to be a really exciting story with a lot of action, great characters, and a wonderful romance. I definitely plan to read more of this author's work in the future.

I enjoyed this romance quite a bit. This is the third book in Piper J. Drake's True Heroes series but it can easily be read as a stand-alone. I haven't read any of the other books from this series and I had absolutely no problems jumping in with this one. I picked this book up on a day that I was home waiting to get some repairs done because I thought it fit my mood that day. I was right. I consumed this entire book in a single day and had a great time with it.
When Raul gets a call for help from Mali, a friend and co-worker's sister, he doesn't hesitate to come to her aid. Raul works at Search and Protect along with his partner Taz, a German Shepherd. He is brand new on the job and hasn't even officially started when he gets the call from Mali but he knows he needs to help. Mali is afraid. She has been in Hawaii doing research and her group had to scatter. She believes that people may be after her and she fears for the safety of her group.
This book had plenty of action to keep things really interesting. There were some pretty intense scenes that really kept the pace of the book moving forward. I thought that the action was nicely balanced out by the scenes that were more character-driven. I really enjoyed getting to know Raul, Mali, Taz, and the rest of the crew. It was very interesting to see what motivated them to act. I loved the fact that Taz was such a well-developed character that played a huge part in the story. I am a sucker for books that involve dogs and I thought that Taz added a whole lot to the story.
I liked the chemistry between Raul and Mali. I enjoyed the romance in this story but I did feel like the action of the story felt like a larger focus. I liked that things moved a little slower and I thought that their chemistry was very well done. I was completely invested in seeing this pair figure out how to make things work long term.
I would recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. The story does deal with human trafficking which may be hard for some readers. I found this story to be very entertaining and action-packed and therefore hard to put down. I would not hesitate to read more of well-done series.

This was really good. I have a long history with Sandra Brown. I am not even sure how many years it has been since I first tried her work. I haven't read them all yet but I have quite a few under my belt. I have yet to be disappointed and look forward to getting my hands on her new work every year. It is safe to say that I went into this book with fairly high expectations and I pleased to say that they were all met. This was a highly entertaining story that was hard to put down at times.
Agent Drex Easton has spent years focused on finding a single killer and he thinks that he may have finally tracked him down. He goes undercover and moves into the garage apartment next door to his suspect, Jasper Ford, and starts working to put the pieces together. Jasper lives in a large home with his much younger wife, Talia. Drex likes Talia immediately and may actually feel a little something more than that.
This book did a lot of things really well. I thought that the mystery was very well done. I wanted Drex to get his man but I wasn't quite sure if Jasper was the right guy. I thought that all of the pieces fell into place at just the right time to really keep the momentum of the story moving forward. The characters were very well done. I liked Drex and Talia right away. I also thought that the pair of agents helping with the case, Gif and Mike, were both wonderful characters that added a lot to the story.
I liked the romance between Drex and Talia for the most part. I thought that they had great chemistry together and really enjoyed their interactions. I really did wish that Talia had not been married though. Granted she may be married to a serial killer and her marriage might be built on lies so maybe it is okay? I do think that the romance worked despite my issues.

I thought that this was pretty good. It wasn't great but it was good. I have been excited about this book since I read the prequel novella Hanover House a couple of years ago. This is the first full length book in the Evelyn Talbot series but I do recommend reading the prequel novella first if at all possible since it really sets up the series well. I had a pretty good time with this book and was eager to learn how everything would work out in the end.
Evelyn Talbot has a lot of experience with psychopaths. As a teenager, her boyfriend killed her friends and almost killed her as well after torturing her for several days. As an adult, she has dedicated her life to learning more about psychopaths. She was the driving force behind opening Hanover House, a facility that houses and studies these individuals.
Sergeant Amarok is the local law enforcement. He is an Alaskan State Trooper and the only real authority in the town. He has to deal with dangerous weather condition and whatever other issues come up in the area. When it appears that a murder has occurred, he is the one tasked with figuring everything out.
This book had a lot of really great elements. It was an exciting story. There was more than a few scenes that really had me worried that things might go poorly for the characters. The mystery was rather complex and kept me guessing until the very end of the book. I liked the romance between Evelyn and Amarok. They really seemed perfect together and I loved how their personalities complimented each other.
There were a few things about the story that seemed a bit off. I did like the romance between Evelyn and Amarok but I didn't care for the way that it seemed to take over the rest of the story at times. The book spends a lot of time in Evelyn's head and she spent so much time thinking about Amarok. I kind of thought she should have been thinking about the murderer running around the town but that is just me. I also thought is was unrealistic that Amarok would have been left to deal with everything on his own. I would think that a murderer on the loose would have been enough to get a few reinforcements sent to his little town.
Therese Plummer did a great job with this book. I found the book to be a pretty quick listen that I really enjoyed. Overall, I think that the narrator did a nice job with the character voices although I did find a couple of the voices to be rather similar at first. I thought she did a great job with adding excitement to the book at just the right moments. I would definitely listen to this talented narrator again in the future.
I do recommend this book to others. This wasn't a perfect book but I had a lot of fun with it. I am really looking forward to finding out what else might threaten Evelyn and Hanover House very soon.
Initial Thoughts This was good. Not great, but good. Right now I am giving it 3 stars but I may bump it to 4 after I give myself some time to think about it. The book focused on the romantic relationship of Evelyn just as much as the murders and corruption happening all around her. Some parts of the book were unbelievable although entertaining. I thought that the narrator did a good job with the story.

I thought that this book was very well done. This is the third book in the Rocky Mountain K9 Unit series and I do believe that it would work best for reader that have read the preceding novels since events from earlier books do come into play in this one. This book had a lot of action and I found that I didn't want to stop reading once I started. This book was just a lot of fun to read.
This book features Otto and Sarah. Sarah has lived a life controlled by others. She is given no choices and is physically abused often. When she gets a chance to start a new life, she jumps at the chance and ends up rooming with Jules and Grace from previous books. Otto is an officer with the local police force. He is quiet and extremely kind. He has a soft spot for animals and is known to take in those needing a home.
I liked Otto and Sarah together and thought that they had a lot in common. They are instantly attracted to each other but they don't seem quite sure how to deal with it at the start. Otto seems to be what Sarah needs and is there when needed. He has a quiet calmness that Sarah seems to need. When Sarah needs to be rescued, Otto is there to help. They really seemed to compliment each other very well.
The books in this series have all had a lot of action but I think that this one takes things to a whole new level. There are several very exciting scenes that really had me nervous for the characters. I liked that the characters from the prior books all play key roles in this book and get in on the action as well. The animals in this book were great. Any book that can work a few animals into the story get a few bonus points from me and this one had quite the menagerie playing the part.
I only had a couple of very minor complaints. I thought that Sarah recovered from the years of abuse a lot quicker than I would have thought possible. I also would have liked to see a bit more regarding Otto's history. There is a quick mention of his past that really made me want more. I would have liked to see them both work through their issues from the past together.
I would recommend this book to others. This was a really exciting book that was a whole lot of fun to read. I can't wait to read more of this wonderful series!
I received an advance reader edition of this book from Sourcebooks Casablanca via Edelweiss.
Initial Thoughts That was fun! I did not expect this book to have as much action as it did. I love books filled with action scenes so that worked out incredibly well for me. I loved Otto and his menagerie of animals. Sarah was pretty awesome but I did think that she recovered from years of trauma a whole lot faster than I would have thought possible. The characters from the two earlier books have a pretty big role in this installment which is great for readers of the series....more

I had a really good time with this book. I actually liked this book a lot more than the previous installment and am really glad that I decided to continue with the series. I thought that this book was very exciting and found myself wanting to keep reading for hours at a time just to find out how things would work out.
This is the second full length book in the Evelyn Talbot series and I do recommend reading this series in order since some parts of the story build on events from previous books. Evelyn is continuing her work at Hanover House and has a new psychopath to work with, Lyman Bishop or the Zombie Maker. Lyman is incredibly intelligent and somewhat challenging. Of course, there are other things going on around Evelyn as well so things are always interesting.
I really liked the complexity of the mystery in this book. I wasn't quite sure what I should think about certain events until something else that was connected occurred and everything fell into place. The way things were laid out really kept my interest level high. I thought that the fact that there were several interconnected threads also kept things rather exciting and there were quite a few surprises worked into the story. The relationship between Evelyn and Amarok does have a few developments but I thought that the story was much more balanced with the romantic aspect adding to the story and character development.
I thought that Therese Plummer did a great job with this book. I really enjoyed the pacing of her reading and she has a very pleasant voice that is easy to listen to for long periods of time. She was able to handle a fairly large cast of characters very well with distinct voices for each of the key players. I thought the she added a lot of emotion to the story and made some of the intense scenes even more exciting.
I would recommend this book to others. The series is really exciting and filled with wonderful characters. I can't wait to read more of this series so I can find out what is next for Evelyn Talbot.

Initial Thoughts I enjoyed this one a lot more than the previous book in the series. I am so glad that I didn't give up on the series. It seemed that the focus of the book stayed more on the mystery of the serial killers than on romance. Evelyn and Amarok seem a lot more solid together and I never felt like their relationship took over the entire plot although things did move along in that area. I found Dr. Lyman Bishop to be a very interesting character and I loved how the mystery surrounding him kept me guessing. This was definitely a book filled with excitement. I thought that this book worked really well. I have only read one book by Mary Burton before starting this one but I enjoyed it so I was pretty eager to pick this one up. I was really pulled into the story from the start and ended up listening to the entire book in just a couple of days. This was a book that I wanted to listen to for hours at a time and completely enjoyed the experience.
Kate is an FBI agent and we learn pretty early on that she handles some pretty difficult cases. She is called to a crime scene in Texas that has all of the trademarks of another criminal. A criminal that Kate put behinds bars. She has to figure out what is going on quickly before anyone else is harmed.
Detective Theo Mazur is a divorced father who has recently moved to Texas to remain close to his daughter. He is the new guy at the department, having left a more prestigious position in Chicago, and reaches out for help to the FBI just as soon as he sees the similarities between his case and the notorious killer.
I thought that Kate and Theo made a great team. I liked how their partnership seemed to work from the very beginning. I was completely hooked by the case. There were so many twists and turns that I couldn't figure out how things would work out. I liked that there were a few other issues that they were dealing with outside of the case because it made the characters feel a lot more authentic. Kate's past, her relationship with her family, and Theo's desire to stay near his daughter were all not only interesting but each topic added to the overall story.
Teri Schnaubelt did a wonderful job with the narration. There is a pretty large group of characters in this story and she made each one of them come alive. I was completely engaged in the story from the very start and found myself hanging on every word. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to more of her work in the future.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a fantastic mystery thriller with just a bit of romance worked into the story. I liked this book but I didn't love it. It has been years since I have read anything by Christina Dodd but I have really enjoyed her writing in the past so I was excited to get the chance to read this book. This is the fourth book in the Virtue Falls series and I think that I might have gotten a bit more out of it if I had read the previous books before jumping into this one. I didn't have any kind of difficulty following the story but there were times that I just felt like I was missing something. I did like the book and was eager how things would work out.
This book really seemed to be telling more than one story. There is Merida, a mute woman, who has been recently widowed. The other main focus was on Kateri, the newly elected sheriff. Both of these woman had there own issues to deal and relationships to figure out. I honestly think that I might have like the book a bit more if the focus didn't shift back and forth as much as it did. There were quite a few times that I was pulled out of the story a bit as the point of view changed.
There is a whole lot going on in this book. So much. There is a convict on the loose, a string of murders occurring in Virtue Falls, a relative in town causing trouble, romantic issues, a long lost lover, a comatose friend, plus a frog god. It was probably too much in a lot of ways and started to seem unrealistic. I am okay with the frog god not being realistic but I would have liked for a little more believability for the rest of the story.
I really did like Kateri. She seemed to be able to handle just about anything but was willing to take advice from others. I liked Stag as well but he wasn't in the book as much as I would have liked but he seemed to really be what Kateri needed. I also really liked some of the members of the police force and the older bar owner. Merida and Benedict never felt completely real to me. I didn't dislike them but I wasn't sure if I should trust them either.
I think that my biggest issue with the book was that things just seemed too convenient at times. As the excitement of the book peaked, the characters would catch a break that was too good to be true. Problems were solved a little too easily and solutions showed up just when they were needed. I am glad that all of the loose ends were wrapped up but I would have it to feel a bit more real.
I do think that a lot of readers will enjoy this one. I enjoyed this book even though I had some issues with the story. I do hope to read more of Christina Dodd's work very soon.

I enjoyed this book quite a bit! I have been a long time fan of Sandra Brown. Before I owned a kindle, started a blog, or had a goodreads account, I read Sandra Brown. I kind of feel like we go way back. I haven't read all of her books but I usually keep up with her annual release every year and try to squeeze in books from her backlist when I get the chance. I went into this book expecting a very entertaining story and those expectations were solidly met.
Trapper and Kerra were at the center of this story. Kerra is a TV journalist out to get the big interview that nobody has been able to get for years. She decides to enlist Trapper's help in getting his father to agree to the interview. Never mind the fact that Trapper is currently not on good terms with his father. Trapper's father, Major Franklin Trapper, became a celebrity when he was able to a few people during a deadly bombing that made headlines. The interview ends up becoming the starting point for a dangerous chain of events.
I really liked Trapper and Kerra in this story. They were both really smart and able to think on their feet. Trapper was a little rough around the edges but really cared underneath it all. Kerra was able to balance the need to get the big story with what she felt was the right thing to do. They had great chemistry with each other and I loved following them as they worked to get everything figured out.
This book starts off with a bang and I was hooked right away. I think that the choice to tell some parts of the story out of order at the very start of the book was very effective. There were so many different things going on in this book and I found myself working to figure out what was really going on along with Trapper and Kerra. I was never quite sure who could really be trusted and found myself second guessing some of the characters. There were quite a few twists and turns that I did not see coming.
I would highly recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. This book has a lot of action, a solid mystery to solve, and a great romance at its core. I can't wait to read more from Sandra Brown soon.

I ended up really liking this book. I have had a copy of this book for over a year and I have to say that I am a little upset with myself for letting this one get lost in pile. I thought that this was a really well done romantic suspense that kept completely entertained. This was one of those books that was easy to spend hours with at a time. I tend to love second chance romances so Jax and Megan's story was really appealing to me. This pair had a brief but life changing encounter five years ago. Both of their lives have changed dramatically since their time together and they have not even spoken since the last time they were together. During their years apart, Megan has become a music star and Jax is running a security firm after serving in the military. As soon as Jax hears that Megan might be in trouble, he goes straight to her to offer aid.
I really liked how this book was laid out. We learn about their history together slowly throughout the book and I really was just as interested in learning how they met as I was seeing them together in the present. It took a bit of time to learn about their initial meeting but it was worth the wait. Let's just say these two started off in a very unforgettable manner. The story set in the present is pretty exciting since Megan is in quite a bit of danger because of a stalker that may be turning violent.
I loved these two together. I think that they were great together in the past as well as in the present. They had so much chemistry with each other and seemed to be able to be what the other needed. There are few times when Jax oversteps his authority and Megan lets him know it right away. There are a few moments that I felt like Jax was acting a bit like an idiot but things end up working out.
The story was pretty exciting. I really did like the mystery of the stalker and was always waiting for the next big thing to happen. There were a few things that really came as complete surprises in this story but one aspect of the overall mystery was pretty easy to figure out. Even though I had a pretty good idea who the culprit might be, I still had a great time watching everything play out.
I thought that Dara Rosenberg did a great job with this book. I think that this is the first time that I have had a chance to listen to Ms. Rosenberg's narration and I was very impressed. She did a great job with all of the characters and was able to bring a lot of emotion to the story. I did find the narration to be a little slow at the normal speed but once I increased the speed to 1.25, I had no issues with the audio. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to this narrator again in the future.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this book to be a perfect blend of excitement, romance, and great characters. I couldn't help but root for Jax and Megan to safely find their way to a happily ever after together. This was the first book by Sidney Halston that I have had the chance to read and I look forward to reading more of her work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from the library via Hoopla.
Initial Thoughts I ended up really liking this book. Jax and Megan had a lot of great chemistry and I liked their story from the past just as much as their present. Jax did act like a fool from time to time in the present but Megan was able to deal with him quite nicely. I was able to guess the culprit long before they were revealed but I still had a really great time with the story. This was my first time listening to Dara Rosenberg and I thought she did a fantastic job with the story. ...more

After finishing my re-read of this first book in this series, I was eager to dive into the second book in the trilogy. I found this to be another entertaining story that hooked me quickly and held my interest until the very end. This is the second book in the Blood Brothers trilogy and I definitely feel that the trilogy should be read in order but I will take it a step further and say that it is really best to have read the Sin Brothers series before starting this trilogy since those characters play a part in the story. I am glad that I finally decided to give this book a try.
There is a killer on the loose and he has Anya in his sights. He has already killed her sister and he is not done. Anya makes a statement that taunts the killer and names Heath as her fiance. Heath and his brothers were hoping to stay hidden instead of being thrust into the spotlight. Heath and Anya join forces and they not only have to outwit the Cooper Killer but they also have to avoid Dr. Madison and her crew. The story had enough action and excitement to keep things moving and my interest level high.
I liked Anya and Heath and wanted to see things work out for them. There were times that Anya seemed rather reckless but I thought that Heath was almost always able to get things on track. I liked them as a couple and thought that the emotion between them felt very genuine. I loved the scenes that featured the rest of the brothers and loved how they are always ready to back each other up.
Karen White did a fantastic job with the narration. I love the various voices that she used for the cast of characters. It was always very easy to determine who was talking. She has a very pleasant voice and I like the way she is able to add just the right about of emotion to her reading. I do believe that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of this story.
I would recommend this book to others. I had a fantastic time with this story and enjoyed seeing all the characters work together as a team. I cannot wait to read the final book in this trilogy.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and I purchased a copy of the audiobook.
Initial Thoughts I enjoyed this book. This is a series that really should be read in order and I would recommend reading the books in the Sin Brothers series prior to starting this series as well. The story had enough action to keep things moving and I really liked seeing more of the brothers together. I liked Anya and Heath and wanted to see things work out for them. I listened to the audiobook and thought that Karen White did a great job with the narration. I am looking forward to seeing how things wrap up in the final book in this trilogy....more

I thought that this was good. Years ago I read a ton of Linda Howard but I stopped picking up her books for one reason or another. I decided to give this one a try and I found that I do still enjoy her writing. I found this to be a really enjoyable listen.
I really only have one main complaint with this book. I can't believe that I am going to say this but too much of this book was about the dog. I love dogs. My world revolves around my three dogs and I have to admit that they are incredibly spoiled. I love it when dogs are a part of the story. This book took things a bit far even for me. I felt like I had spent hours listening to how Tricks liked to play catch, how smart she was, how she liked to be fed, where she thought she needed to sit in the car, and the list goes on. Do you see that cover? It should have had the dog in the foreground with the humans in the background because that would have been more accurate.
Now, on to the humans. Morgan works for an elite unit and is enjoying some time off at the start of the story. He is attacked near his own home comes close to losing his life. Once he has recovered enough to leave constant medical care, his supervisor arranges for him to go to the home of his step-sister, Bo, who lives in a small remote town. Bo is the part-time police chief of a small town. It's is an administrative position and she fills in the rest of her time with computer work out of her home. She does not expect to find an incredibly sick man on her doorstep but he is in such bad shape she can't bring herself to send him away.
There is a lot going on in this book. Not only do they need to figure out who is responsible for the attack on Morgan at the start of the book, but Bo also has some issues in town that prove to be more dangerous than she counted on. It did feel like nothing happened with the mystery of who was responsible for trying to kill Morgan for the majority of the book and then everything came together really quickly at the end of the story. Bo's situation in town filled in the main part of the book nicely.
I thought that Morgan and Bo worked well together. Morgan was pretty open and shared as much with Bo as he could. Morgan was in pretty rough shape for a long time in this story but when he started to recover he seemed to do so very quickly and that is when things started to heat up between the pair. I thought that they had good chemistry with each other and I liked them as a couple.
I thought that Tanya Eby did a good job with the narration. It did take me just a bit to get used to her voice but once I did, I had no complaints. She handled all of the character voices very well and was able to add a lot of emotion to the story. I had no problem listening to her voice for hours at a time.
I think that readers who enjoy romantic suspense and love dogs will enjoy this one. I didn't think that this was Linda Howard's best work but it was an enjoyable story. I wouldn't hesitate to read more of her work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from William Morrow via Edelweiss and borrowed a copy of the audiobook from my local library.
Initial Thoughts This was probably closer to 3.5 stars but I am going with 3 for now. I love dogs. I have 3 dogs that mean the world to me and I do adjust my life quite often to meet their needs. I love dogs in books so it pains me to say that there was just too much of the dog in this book. If I talked about my 3 dogs as much as this book talked about, Tricks, nobody would want to be around me. I feel like the book was 50% about the dog with the rest of the story taking a back seat.
I liked Bo and Morgan well enough. It seemed like the book kind of forgot that Morgan was in danger for the bulk of the story until it came back into focus at the very end. Morgan went from being quite frail to almost superhero status in a blink of an eye which seemed odd to me. I thought that the story was interesting enough to keep me going. I listened to this story and thought that Tanya Eby did an acceptable job with the narration....more

I thought that this was a great installment in the Sin Brothers series. I cannot believe that I have had these books sitting around for years and am just now getting around to reading them. This is the third book in the series and I do recommend reading this series in order since some of the plot points are carried on from one book to the next. I had a great time listening to this book and found it to be a really exciting read.
I was really excited to dive into Nate and Audrey's story because I knew that they had a history and I cannot seem to resist second chance romances. I loved learning what exactly happened when they were younger and enjoyed seeing that their connection was still strong. I thought that they had amazing chemistry together and I liked the way that they worked as a team. Audrey was a great character and I almost felt like her upbringing was worse than Nate's.
I thought that this book was pretty exciting. There was a fair amount of action and I was really worried about how things would work out at times. I liked the fact that both Audrey and Nate seemed to be willing to tackle whatever obstacle was thrown their way. It was really easy to cheer this pair on.
I thought that Karen White did a fantastic job with the narration. She handled all of the character voices very well and added a lot of excitement to the story. I found her voice to be very pleasant and found myself listening to the book for hours at a time. I think that her narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.
I would recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. This book had a wonderful blend of action and romance that kept me hooked until the very end. I cannot wait to start the next book in this series.

I ended up really liking this one. I feel like this book has been sitting on my virtual shelves forever. I am so glad that I finally decided to tackle it. It has been a long time since I read any of this author’s work but I found this to be rather enjoyable.
Ian and Phoebe were great characters and I liked the dynamic between them. I really liked the rest of the team as well and thought that they added a lot to the story. I found the book to be rather exciting with quite a bit of action to keep the plot moving along. Ian was almost superhuman and it seemed that he could almost do anything. Phoebe was smart but she didn’t always fully understand the situation which got her in trouble on more than one occasion. My only complaint would be that the book felt overly long at times. There was a lot going on in this book and I really felt like some of the sub-plots probably should have been cut to streamline the book just a bit.
I thought that Patrick Lawlor and Melanie Ewbank did a great job with the narration. I liked the various voices that both of them used. I liked the way they were able to add a bit of excitement and emotion to the story through their reading. I thought that their voices worked really well for this book and they both made the characters they represented feel very real. I believe that their narration added to my overall enjoyment of the story.
I would recommend this book to fans of romantic suspense. There is a lot of action and excitement in this story which is nicely balanced with the romance. I would definitely read more of this talented author’s work.
