In this day and age, all children and teenagers want some form of tablet to browse the Internet, to read a book on or to perhaps use to play a game or two or to communicate with their friends.Gadgets, including tablets, are expensive. Granted this Kindle Fire 7 (to denote that diagonally across the screen it measures 7” {7inches i.e. 17.78cm) is not an iPad. However for WHAT it offers I think it is quite good value for money and my young teenagers (12-year-olds do like it). They particularly like that they can read lots of different types of books on it, that it has BBC iPlayer, Netflix and Overdrive apps on it. By the way, the Overdrive app is an app that allows you to register on it with Your Local Library Card Membership Number and PIN - this then allows you to borrow eBooks (i.e. electronic books) from your local library WITHOUT ever incurring library fines. This is because the books are automatically returned to the Library Electronic Bookshelves when they are DUE BACK or if another person requests an electronic copy of books in short supply.Anyway, getting back to the topic at hand, there are Social Media Apps such as Facebook app and Instagram on it, but then each family decides WHAT they feel is appropriate for their child. The Tablet was very easy to set-up. I like this 2019 Version [released in the UK in June 2019] has an option, whereby WHEN you long-press the power button, TWO OPTIONS come up, 1) to Either Power Off (i.e. turn off the tablet) or to RESET the Tablet (IF there’s a glitch on the tablet or you’re having problems with the smooth operation of it).I’ve bought and inserted SD Cards on my children’s tablets, as well as put a glass shatter-proof screen protector AND A Lovely Cover I bought from Amazon to protect their new tablets. My children have had their tablets for a few weeks now and they love their tablets AND THE TABLETS HAVE ALSO BEEN TROUBLE-FREE, unlike the previous generations of the Kindle Fire 7, which appeared to be “glitchy”, sometimes slow and at times totally unresponsive.I would recommend that one buys a Kindle Fire 7 with at least a 16Gb Hard-Drive Memory (It comes to about 10.5 Gb Useable Storage Space I believe after the Operating System Requirements etc). It is worth stretching to the 32Gb Version IF one can afford it, as low-hard-drive memory tends to slow down the performance of the tablet.I LIKE THAT THE AMAZON TABLETS HAVE EXCELLENT PARENTAL CONTROLS THAT CAN BE ACTIVATED ON THE CHILDREN’S TABLETS & also that IF you’ve bought an item, be it a film or an app, you can make it available to your child. More and more operating systems are going this way - that IF you’ve bought an app or a film or a song or an album THAT you can make it available to other people in your family. I also like that YOU CAN FOR A MONTHLY OUTLAY OF UK GBP £4.99 SUBSCRIBE TO AMAZON KINDLE FAMILY, WHICH ALLOWS YOUR CHILDREN TO HAVE UNLIMITED ACCESS TO VARIOUS KINDLE LIBRARY BOOKS.There are some good deals available on Amazon every now and then for Kindle Tablets AND I WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND PAYING THE UK GBP £10.00 EXTRA TO HAVE THE ADVERTS REMOVED on the Tablets, otherwise the adverts CAN at times BE ANNOYING OR IRRITATING or perhaps feel intrusive.Thank you so much for reading my rather long REVIEW. I love my kindle fire. I first bought some for the kids almost 4 years ago but since then we have bought more and now have one each. The original ones have become quite difficult to charge – wear and tear after 4 years of being wrenched off the charging cables by over-eager kids I suppose, for what they cost in the first place I think they held up pretty well. I punted my old one onto the kids and invested in an 'All-New' Kindle.
Happily for me, not much has changed. The thing I love about the kindle fire is its simplicity, I have everything I need for entertainment in one place. I often work from home and use my laptop for work. So if I sit at my computer to browse the web or check social media it still feels like work. When I switch off the computer and fire up the kindle I know it is time to relax.
The kindle is light, compact and easy to use, ideal for reading. I can read at night without switching the light on, and the Kindle fire makes it really easy to select, purchase and download your next book in a matter of minutes. I use Goodreads on my kindle fire too.
For music, I have the BBC sounds app which I am a little bit obsessed with (it is great). All the social media and tv apps that I use are on there too.
The kid's app is really handy too, we don't have the subscription (when we did the kids maxed out our broadband by downloading too much), there are plenty free apps and I don't mind paying for the occasional game or book. You get really good control over how much web time, videos or games the kids can access, and you can set a 'bedtime', when the kindle will switch off for the day.
The camera and video on the fire are pretty basic, I hardly ever use it.
The charging seems better on the new fire – a snugger fit, but only time will tell if it lasts longer than the old one.
For the money though – it is an excellent deal. It has everything I need and it keeps the kids entertained.

The Fire 7 Tablet (2019 Release) is an affordable and versatile device that's perfect for everyday use. It's not a high-end tablet, but it offers great value for the price point.

The 7" display is clear and bright, making it suitable for reading, browsing the web, and watching videos. While it may not have the highest resolution, it's more than adequate for most tasks. The compact size makes it easy to carry around, and it fits comfortably in one hand.

With 16 GB of storage, it's not the roomiest tablet, but the option to expand storage with a microSD card is a huge plus. This means you can store more apps, games, and media without worrying about running out of space.

The Fire 7 runs Amazon's customized version of Android, which means it's tightly integrated with Amazon services, including Prime Video, Kindle, and Alexa. This can be a significant advantage if you're a frequent Amazon user.

While the tablet isn't the most powerful on the market, it handles most tasks well, including web browsing, email, and running basic apps. However, it may struggle with more demanding apps and games.

Battery life is decent, and you can expect a day's use with moderate to light usage.

One drawback is the lack of access to Google Play Store, which limits the selection of apps and games compared to traditional Android tablets. However, you can sideload apps or use the Amazon Appstore to find alternatives.

In summary, the Fire 7 Tablet is an excellent choice for those looking for a budget-friendly tablet for everyday tasks and media consumption. It may not have all the bells and whistles of more expensive models, but it offers solid performance and good value for the price.
