I love my kindle fire. I first bought some for the kids almost 4 years ago but since then we have bought more and now have one each. The original ones have become quite difficult to charge – wear and tear after 4 years of being wrenched off the charging cables by over-eager kids I suppose, for what they cost in the first place I think they held up pretty well. I punted my old one onto the kids and invested in an 'All-New' Kindle.
Happily for me, not much has changed. The thing I love about the kindle fire is its simplicity, I have everything I need for entertainment in one place. I often work from home and use my laptop for work. So if I sit at my computer to browse the web or check social media it still feels like work. When I switch off the computer and fire up the kindle I know it is time to relax.
The kindle is light, compact and easy to use, ideal for reading. I can read at night without switching the light on, and the Kindle fire makes it really easy to select, purchase and download your next book in a matter of minutes. I use Goodreads on my kindle fire too.
For music, I have the BBC sounds app which I am a little bit obsessed with (it is great). All the social media and tv apps that I use are on there too.
The kid's app is really handy too, we don't have the subscription (when we did the kids maxed out our broadband by downloading too much), there are plenty free apps and I don't mind paying for the occasional game or book. You get really good control over how much web time, videos or games the kids can access, and you can set a 'bedtime', when the kindle will switch off for the day.
The camera and video on the fire are pretty basic, I hardly ever use it.
The charging seems better on the new fire – a snugger fit, but only time will tell if it lasts longer than the old one.
For the money though – it is an excellent deal. It has everything I need and it keeps the kids entertained.
