Another amazing book by Jason that shines a light on important issues and feelings and it totally moved me. The phenomenal artwork by Jason Griffin added another layer of meaning and made the story-telling all the more powerful....more
I wasn't in it for the personal growth (the excessive holiday food consumption has taken care of that), but more for the vibrant art within. I enjoy Tamara's You Tube channel so thought I would borrow this from the library. I love the bright colours she uses and also the way she shades and highlights faces. Her backgrounds also have quite a lot of cool layers that provide such an interesting backdrop for her main feature. There are a couple of techniques that I intend to give a whirl in my next mixed media art project....more

Well Patrick is certainly a remarkable writer!
This is literally an upside down reimagining of Moby Dick. The whales are hunting the elusive human, Toby Wick, and the whale captain's obsession with fulfilling the prophecy of killing him, mirrored that of Ahab's in the original story. The images are darkly beautiful as they follow the path of blood and destruction brought about by the single-minded pursuit of this much feared human. An interesting twist on a classic tale....more

Well that was a thoroughly entertaining short field study! I'm not going to put it under the microscope because it isn't trying to be anything other than a light-hearted piece of zombie literature. I don't know what it says about me that I laughed my head off at the ending though....
Additional Note: Listen to the audiobook first, then follow up with the book as it has sketches etc....more
