For parents and guardians

As teens start to build a presence online, we encourage families to have ongoing conversations about navigating this experience. We aim to create a safe and welcoming community for teens on TikTok and have resources for you to help you and your teen better manage their online presence.

For more information on digital safety, including our safety and privacy tools, visit the Guardian's Guide in our Safety Center.

Age requirement on TikTok

TikTok is available for people aged 13 years and older (or other ages as indicated in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service). If you're located in the United States and you have a child under the age of 13, they may create an account to access a TikTok experience that's specifically designed for them.

If you're a parent or legal guardian and you'd like TikTok to delete the account of your child under the age of 13, you can contact us through our online reporting form. However, if you're located in the United States, you must contact us through this privacy webform.

Manage your teen's account

As a parent or guardian, you can use Family Pairing on TikTok to customize safety settings for your teen based on individual needs.

Everyone on TikTok has the option to unpublish their account by deactivating or permanently delete their account. Additionally, if you're a parent or legal guardian located in Connecticut, United States, you can contact us to request to delete your teen's account or to unpublish.

If you request to delete or unpublish your teen's account:
•  You must select Connecticut as the state to continue the request process.
•  To confirm your identity, we'll ask for a selfie of you holding your government-issued photo ID. You may cover any parts of your ID that you have a legal right or obligation to do so.
•  As soon as we confirm your request to unpublish or delete the teen's account, we'll start the process to delete the information you submitted, including any selfies and photos of your ID.
•  We'll notify your teen and unpublish or delete the account.
