So funny, so sexy, so fun, with perhaps one of the best examples of how to write a relationship where the love interests are on opposite sides of the fence about an issue—-in this case, whether ghosts exist. I liked that they passionately defend the nuances of their positions, particularly her standing her ground on her beliefs and what it means if he doesn’t respect them. (His relationship with his best friend gets a hat tip as well.) The arguments are fierce, their banter is witty, and the way they eventually come together (view spoiler)[ HAH (hide spoiler)] is believable and cute.
Already so well-put together (frankly better than a lot of traditionally published books that have the benefit of betas and agents and editors and proofreaders and marketing), but it will be so exciting to see what happens in the future if this author gets picked up.

I liked seeing Simon Page’s POV in the last book because you see the investigation from his eyes, but Lily herself is perfectly capable of accidentally witnessing private moments between servants as well. Still an enjoyable series. I just prefer the focus on Lily.
Should be interesting to see what happens when the Captain gets home eventually….. ...more

He quietly proves his feelings (and respects his prior commitments), too.
I also love that in lieu of a bachelor or bachelorette party, they all go on a trip to a cozy b&b to Vermont together. Sign me up for that. ...more

Nice food styling, photographs, and recipes, though I don’t love how the photos are cut, resized, and arranged. Also feels like it could use more photographs, or at least some beautiful black and white illustrations. It actually feels a lot like a very nice bound magazine.
On the writing/recipe side, I wish the author had written separate recipes for each dish instead of grouping them into a series of mini-feasts, as her directions lump things together and sometimes jump back and forth. I’ll decide what I’m serving, thanks. And I love Halloween and always do spooky food, but I am not an actual witch so the majority of that stuff I just skipped right over.
3.5 stars I enjoy it, but there’s not enough in it and too many minor quibbles for me to actually purchase it. But a fun library borrow for sure....more

If you’d enjoy a historical romance with witches, try to find a copy of Jill Barnett’s Bewitching. It has a similarly humorous tone, with added sweetness and sadness and tenderness....more
