“The only other calling I ever felt was an irrepressible desire to be Captain of my own Starship. I was born in the wrong century and it wasn’t possible, so I chose to explore the universe by writing fiction instead. Books are doors to endless adventure.” -KMM

Karen Marie Moning is the #1 NYT bestselling author of the Fever Series and Highlander novels.

An alum of the Immaculate Conception Academy, at seventeen she attended Purdue University where she completed a BA in Society & Law, with minors in Philosophy, Creative Writing and Theatre, while working full time as a bartender and computer consultant. I often think the biggest difference between an unpublished writer and a published one is dedication and commitment to the craft, hunger to communicate and the discipline to keep pursuing your goals despite criticism and rejection. I have a binder full of rejection letters and considered each one affirmation--proof that I was trying, being fearless, chasing my dream. You have to do your very best work and put yourself out there, whether self-publishing or traditional. When you chase a dream, the universe conspires to help you get it.(less)

“One day you will kiss a man you can't breathe without, and find that breath is of little consequence.”
Karen Marie Moning, Bloodfever

“I love books, by the way, way more than movies. Movies tell you what to think. A good book lets you choose a few thoughts for yourself. Movies show you the pink house. A good book tells you there's a pink house and lets you paint some of the finishing touches, maybe choose the roof style, park your own car out front. My imagination has always topped anything a movie could come up with. Case in point, those darned Harry Potter movies. That was so not what that part-Veela-chick, Fleur Delacour, looked like.”
Karen Marie Moning, Darkfever

“The most confused we ever get is when we're trying to convince our heads of something our heart knows is a lie.”

Lucivania Lobão I really wanted you to come visit us here in Brazil, but unfortunately no publisher is smart enough to launch their series of Highlander here for us.

Stacy There's a song that just makes me think of the nine whenever I hear it. It's called Warriors by Imagine Dragons. I can imagine Dani loving it, too. ^_^

Salena Chavez Hi Karen, I have the same question as Mayko. When do you think the Fever Tarot cards will be on sale again? I would love to buy a set

message 12: by Mayko

Mayko Hi Karen,

I would like to purchase a Fever Tarot deck. Where can I get one?

message 11: by Jewel

Jewel Star Karen, thanks for friending me! I was very inspired by what you wrote about your books. One does have to be true to the muse. I have tried to connect with an agent forever. You are so lucky to have a publisher. I almost had an agent for COSBY'S LOVE CHILD and then her husband tried to talk my subject into writing her own book, which she never will, and all went south. I love writing and won't quit, but I have also realized I write to see what is going to come out. I'm always surprised and think, "Wow, where did that come from?" I always have stories going on in my head and know there are not enough years to write them all. Good luck to you in all that you do. I will look to you as a mentor for you are way ahead of me!
