Bought this in summer 2020 and it has worked well for my bedroom. Still going strong. Definitely love the timer, always coming home to a cold room is wonderful. Dehumidifier options are a life saver.

The unit is easy to use and has done a good job at keeping a bedroom cool. The only major issue is that I received it severely dented on the top and damaged in the rear part of the unit. I began to initiate a return but then the heat wave struck and I decided to risk it and run it. So far as it has continued to work despite the damage. But I'm definitely viewing it as a short-term solution. It is very easy to install just know that if you're window is a sliding window from the side and not a vertical up down window that you will need to get a extra kit of some kind for blocking the rest of the window. The small amount of stripping that you receive will not effectively seal up the rest of the gap in my windows.

Overall I am very happy with this unit. When I was researching 6000 BTU ACs it seems that across all major brands the ratings are 7% 1 star and 70% 5 star. Some were DoA, and others did not work in the second year. As such, I purchased this unit with the 3 year Asurion warranty and hope not to have to use it. This AC was the least expensive of it's class and I have had good results with other Amazon Basics products. I am a 60 year old man and quite handy, but have never purchased and installed a window AC.
Pros:
Great price, fast delivery (when in stock) and returnable
Great efficiency (CEER 12.1)
Relatively light
Cons:
Installation instructions and documentation are not well written and lacking in detail
Reference to vinyl window installation not apply to current US windows
My installation approach:
Knowing that ACs have some DoA (dead on arrival) instances, I carefully unpacked the unit (double boxed) and tested it on a table. After I was sure it was working, I then to installation. I noticed that the bottom rail appeared wider than the slot width of my vinyl window. Sure enough it was, the slot wide is 1 3/16" and the bottom support bar is 1 3/4". After test fitting and seeing if any other mounting options were possible, I realized the only way to do this was to mount it in the bottom slot of my window. After pondering on several work arounds, I realized that the accordion shutter width was 1 1/8 ". So, I cut the trailing edge of the bottom rail using a 3" cut-off tool down to 1" and cleaned up the sharp edges. After the cutting procedure the install continued perfectly and exactly as I had hoped.
My 121 square foot room was at 81 degrees at 6:30 PM and cooled down to 73 degrees by 9:30. People that think 6000 BTU unig provides instant cooling need to understand that rooms and the items in them have thermal mass that takes time to cool down. The best approach to keeping a room cool is to start the AC at your set temperature and let it keep the room from heating up rather than cooling it down after it is hot.
Admittedly I have no experience with other brands of windows ACs, however I do have standard high efficiency double paned windows and feel that you should be able to install window AC unit without modification. Thus the 4 star rating instead of 5.

Was very easy to install (except it was super hot the day I did it). The heat that day showed how good it was though, since after I was mass sweating from installing everything it only took 5 minutes after turning it on to feel nice and cool. Just make sure you get the right BTU for the room size and these will deliver. Had it for about 3 weeks now and no signs of dysfunction.

Heads up. I bought this air conditioner and thought it was good. I rarely use it and it worked OK. When we moved our garbage cans near where the window unit was I started noticing a smell. Ac only cools the air in the room so I didn't think it could be the trash smell getting in. However it persisted and got way worse anytime I turned on ac. Well I have some techs look at it and they let me know that the Styrofoam insulation that has been pressed together still is leaking air. I guess most companies do this but then seal it with metal. This one has no metal. So that means all smell from outside is not pushed into your house. Your also blowing in hot air making it incredibly inefficient even though it's energy star. I did alot of research too before ordering and it got good marks. Buyer beware.

As far as basic functionality it works just fine. Cools just fine, auto mode is able to detect temperatures pretty well.
The audio levels are pretty much (not silent) easily drowned out by noise canceling products.
Not a lot of customization when it comes to fan speeds but you do have some options.

No some negative things I have to saw do not have to deal with functionality.
When I got this product it was clearly used, and for a Amazon basic product that is almost unexceptionable.

I was going to chuck it up to shipping damage until I saw the scuff marts on the bottom resting areas.
Then I figured maybe this is a repackaged product....
Then once situated and installed as soon as I turned the unit on a fishy/plastic smell came from the unit. I figured it just needed to air out and the smell would go away and it has. So that isn't to big of a deal.
The remote is almost useless for custom settings. choosing a preset isn't a issue but the remote has almost a 1.5sec lag to it, so inputs can take a long time.
At the end of the day while the product did have some noticeable issues the key functions work so I will give it a pass.
