Backlit buttons plus two RF programmable buttons.

Backlit buttons plus two RF programmable buttons.
Have the previous Alexa Voice Remote with the TV-compatible IR buttons of Power, Mute, and Volume, so the only feature of interest for the Alexa Voice Remote Pro would be the backlit buttons. The Preprogrammed buttons of Prime Video and Netflix are unimportant as can access Prime Video from the main menu and do not have Netflix, although for my July 2023 purchase the two Mystery Preprogrammed buttons were Direct TV and Peacock instead of Disney Plus and Hulu. Do not have these either, but since Direct TV requires location-specific hardware that is unavailable to the vast majority of people who happen to live in multi-unit buildings, Direct TV is an extremely useless option to provide streaming customers. Would guess they paid to have their worthless button included, so perhaps that helps the bottom line in keeping down the cost of annual Prime Renewals - think of it as Advertising. Used one of the two User Programmable buttons for Audible, but that saves me one or two seconds since only have to hit the Home button to reach the Main Menu where Audible can be launched. There is also a Settings button which brings up the four-option configuration screen (not Settings) where one can then select Settings, but could easily reach this same screen by simply holding down the Home button for a few seconds, so not exactly a Mission Critical button. The option for BT Headphones seems like an interesting Future Option, and if I had Alexa set up and configured, could maybe make use of the Remote Finder, but as I do not, the remote will have to behave itself and not wander off.Channel ButtonsIn case someone else has the same issue I did and tries searching for Channel button / buttons Not Working with a physical TV, the Channel buttons are poorly documented since they are NOT IR compatible buttons for use with a physical television set, but are RF compatible Channel Up / Down buttons for use ONLY in streaming Live TV. Documentation lists the Channel buttons but does not specify their use. Contacted Fire TV support (twice) to ask for help troubleshooting the issue of the Channel buttons not working with my physical television, but the poor documentation extended even to Fire TV support. Was being instructed to do yet another hard-reset of the remote when I did an internet search myself to learn the Channel buttons were NOT for use with a physical television. Found several unanswered forum posts and reviews which mentioned this same issue, so figured it would be worthwhile to mention here so anyone having this issue in the future might save themselves a headache.Third Party Add-OnsI use a third party snap-on remote called the Sideclick which offers additional IR user programmable remote buttons and can be attached to earlier versions of Fire TV remotes. Allows me to include Input Select, Channel Up / Down, Power Saving - which is GREAT for turning off the screen to save power while listening to Audible - and other options. However, Sideclick is over five years old, and the plastic adapters are only compatible with older remotes, NOT the Alexa Voice Remote Pro of 2022 since the Pro has less of a physical curve than previous versions (see picture). However, as both the previous 2nd/3rd generation remotes and the Alexa Voice Remote Pro are both about 1.5 inches wide, can sort of use the Sideclick FB adapter to Mostly Fit the Alexa Voice Remote Pro. Is not a perfect fit, but holds well enough and can always lock-it-in with some black tape. Had I known the Pro would Mostly Fit my older Sideclick adapter, would have purchased the Pro remote last year instead of waiting. But at least waiting till July 2023 allowed for Prime Day Savings!!!!Is it worth the price - even on sale? Hard to say. But the backlit buttons are VERY useful when listening to Audible at night, as can play/pause/skip without having to feel my way across the buttons.Extra TriviaWas happy to see that the Pro remote worked Out Of The Box with my 4K Max, rather than being Dead till an update was downloaded and installed. However, did opt to manually take a peek at the Fire TV Remotes section under Settings, and on selecting the Pro remote there, was informed there was an Update Available for the remote itself. Upgraded the remote from version 34 to 35. However, have also noticed that Available Memory on the 4K Max has dropped since the Pro remote was installed. Was averaging 3.20 megs free prior to installing the Pro remote, now it is averaging 2.90 megs, so guess the additional features of the Pro remote eat resources on the Fire TV stick itself.Warranty TriviaWhile the 4K Max offered an optional Extended Warranty Bundle at time of purchase, was nothing readily available for the Pro remote. Purchased a third party 3 Year Portable Electronic Accident Protection Plan for a few dollars. Trick was since the Pro remote was purchased on sale, needed the 20-29 dollar warranty instead of the 30-39 one.

I recently upgraded to the Alexa Voice Remote Pro, and I must say, it has completely revolutionized my experience with Alexa-enabled devices. This remote takes the already impressive capabilities of the standard Alexa remote and elevates them to a whole new level.

The standout feature of the Alexa Voice Remote Pro is undoubtedly its hands-free voice control. Gone are the days of frantically searching for the remote or pressing buttons to activate Alexa. With a simple "Alexa" wake word, the device springs to life, ready to respond to my commands. Whether I'm dimming the lights, adjusting the thermostat, or launching my favorite TV show, the convenience of hands-free interaction is a game-changer.

The built-in microphone is top-notch, consistently recognizing my voice commands with impressive accuracy. I no longer find myself repeating commands or struggling to be understood. This responsiveness makes using the Alexa Voice Remote Pro a delight, enhancing the overall user experience.

Another notable improvement is the design of the remote itself. The sleek and ergonomic design feels comfortable in hand, with well-placed buttons for easy navigation. The added weight provides a premium feel without being cumbersome. Additionally, the remote's backlighting is a thoughtful touch, making it easy to use even in dimly lit environments.

The battery life on the Alexa Voice Remote Pro is outstanding. I've been using it for weeks without needing to replace or recharge the batteries. This longevity is especially impressive considering the enhanced functionality it offers.

One feature I particularly appreciate is the microphone mute button. While the hands-free voice control is fantastic, there are times when privacy is paramount. The ability to mute the microphone with a simple press is reassuring and demonstrates Amazon's commitment to user privacy.

The Alexa Voice Remote Pro is compatible with a wide range of Alexa-enabled devices, including Fire TV and Fire TV Stick. Pairing the remote with my devices was seamless, and it worked flawlessly from the start.

Though the Alexa Voice Remote Pro comes at a slightly higher price point than the standard remote, the added features and convenience it offers are well worth the investment. It transforms any Alexa-enabled device into a powerful and intuitive smart home hub.

In conclusion, the Alexa Voice Remote Pro has exceeded my expectations on every front. From its hands-free voice control to the ergonomic design and long battery life, this remote is a must-have for anyone invested in the Alexa ecosystem. If you're looking to take your Alexa experience to the next level, the Alexa Voice Remote Pro is the way to go. Highly recommended!

This remote is even better than I expected! Even though I already have perfectly fine Fire Stick remotes as soon as it popped up on my TV screen I immediately ordered one (not something I usually do!) for the backlit feature alone. While waiting for delivery I started reading more about it and got more and more excited because of other features, a couple of which I already had on my previous remote but still worth mentioning.

Can turn on TV AND/OR receiver when you press power! This is easily set up during the simple remote setup process. You just have to select the brand of each; you do not even have to fool with model number or other info. Keep in mind that when using these buttons you need to have the remote pointed toward the system because these controls us IR like a regular remote, while most controls between the Fire Stick and remote are WIFI so not directional.

There is a caveat about this feature if you have a little more involved "theater" system and also use a multifunction remote like a Logitech Harmony that automatically changes source and input ports depending on what you are doing. For example, if you press "Watch a Movie" on the Logitech to watch a blu-ray disc the Logitech changes the HDMI ports as necessary. The next time you press the power button on the Fire Stick remote the system input and source will still be set for watching a DVD. The Fire Stick remote will turn on the TV and receiver, but the TV will say not connected because ports are wrong. You have to then use the Logitech remote to turn the system All Off then press Watch TV to get the ports set properly. This is a minor nuisance. A more common issue is that sometimes when you turn the system off with the Fire Stick remote and maybe do not have the remote pointed correctly the receiver may not turn off, which you may not realize if the receiver is behind a fabric door like mine. The next time you try to power on the system you actually toggle the receiver off so you will again get a not connected message. Again you have to grab the Logitech to All Off then Watch TV to get everything in sync. There may be a fix for some of this. I recently realized that in Settings for either the Fire Stick or the remote there are a number of settings you can change to modify how the devices interact such as the length of the signal the remote sends, the kind of thing more advanced users might want to explore.

TV channel and volume controls are now located and look more like most remotes which, to me, also makes them more convenient to use.

Two programmable streaming service buttons are great and pretty simple to set up. We watch a lot of stuff on Paramount+ so it is nice to just be able to jump to that service after watching a different one. I wish more of them were programmable.

The backlighting is great! When you pick up the remote the backlight automatically comes on.

So I am super happy with this new remote!
