I had another brand one of these and after less than a year the USB-C side got so loose that even slightly nudging it would make the Ethernet disconnect. This one seems to snap into the USB-C port more tightly and I'm being more careful about removing it but we'll see how long that lasts. The activity LED is distractingly bright but can be solved by plugging it in upside down.

Bought a couple of these to use with some video game systems. Probably won't be getting the full USB 3.0 benefits with those, but I tested it on my computer first to try out the speeds. See attached photos. This was just using Speedtest to check my internet speed. There was no dip from when I used this adapter, vs the normal ethernet adapter in my desktop PC. Tested on a Windows 10 PC.
As for the physical device, it's fine. Nothing special. All white. The cord is flexible, which is nice. But not quite long enough to be useful regarding the flexibility. Especially since it's mostly flexible one axis. But it's nice to tuck the USB end away. There's actually an annoying edge at the corners, as if it's two different kinds of plastic on the long sides, vs the rounded corner. Or a white sticker. Not sure why, but it takes away from the nice simplicity of the white design.
Bought at $19.99 ea. This was a reasonable cost for the device. If you're just looking for an adapter, can't go wrong.

I needed a ethernet connection for my mac(s) for cloud gaming and work. Before purchasing this I was a bit hesitant if it will be a good decision to buy this connector or not, since a lot of reviews seemed to suggest otherwise. But I am super impressed by the purchase that I made.
Details:
My original setup: MacBook Pro 15 retina 2012 for cloud gaming (with USB 3 ports) connected to bigger screen for gaming. For office work I have 2020 MacBook Pro 16 (with USB-C ports). I also have a dedicated 1Gbps internet connection to utilise the max speeds for this product.
I wanted to purchase a single product for allowing me to have ethernet connection for both types of ports (ie. USB 3 and USB C). I was sceptical if this will suffice because upon checking different alternatives and their reviews- many people suggested that few such products don’t get recognised on USB-C machines when connected via USB3 to USB-C converter. I can confirm this works fabulously on either type of ports. I was not required to install any drivers and I was constantly getting both upload and download speeds of 900+ Mbps. TP-Link lived upto its brand name and I am very satisfied that I didn’t buy any other cheap/fake brand. Build quality is great as well.
People who are not getting proper speeds may need to invest in good quality cables. I got CAT 6 flat cables and since they use RJ45 default standards so it works without any drivers or issues.
