yuuto, 31 May 2023Sad to see flagship spec phone joining big screen (6 inch above) Well most smartphone companies increase their phone size in order to increase the capacity of their battery to 5000 mAh. It's almost impossible for smartphone companies to have 5000 mAh capacity while only having 5 inches screen
Release on 29 June

Decent 6" phone can be fit into 148mm X 68mm with weight 150-160grams. Thats real compact phone and feels nice in hand and pocket too.

You won't want an efficient phone with performance of a 5yo chip, because with time, OS and App requirements increase.
I would like to see a new phone serie made for MUSIC (video clips).
A combination of Rog and Zenfone.
They would better make it really compact with small bezels than this BS offering... Nobody needs just another big smartphone on the market. There are tons of them from different manufacturers.
Asus please please please include a card slot this time, this is so crucial to me now. I really need a new phone

The battery is definitely gonna be smaller, but aren't the new processors more efficient now? You would probably have to make a sacrifice for the triple camera setup, but you can still probably put in a decent dual camera setup.
Sony made the XZ2 compact and it was almost the same specs as the other flagship phones except for the screen and battery for obvious reasons.
I don't think you need to have a small phone with low-end specs only, but a decent mid-range or flagship is still possible.
Anonymous, 27 May 2023Internal dac was exclusive to LG, just because it has a headphone jack doesn't mean it ha... moreOh dear, so many misconceptions in your comment...
> "๐๐ฏ๐ต๐ฆ๐ณ๐ฏ๐ข๐ญ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ค ๐ธ๐ข๐ด ๐ฆ๐น๐ค๐ญ๐ถ๐ด๐ช๐ท๐ฆ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐๐"
There can be two meanings to this. Did you mean that having a dedicated DAC is an LG exclusive thing, or are you saying this specific one that LG used in their phones (e.g. V30) is exclusive to them? Because if you meant the latter, then that is not true. Many DAPs have used this same ES9218P DAC. If you meant the former, then ignore what I said.

I think you mean a 'dedicated DAC', because ALL phones technically have a dac built into the SoC. Otherwise, audio output wouldn't be possible.
Well no. There are other reasons for wanting the 3.5mm jack besides audio quality, such as being able to charge your phone and listening to music.

I'm sorry, what? Do you even know which DAC they used in their phones? They used the ESS Sabre ES9218P. That is a ๐ง๐ค๐ฌ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ good as๐ธโ DAC. It's still being used in $300 DAPs such as the Hiby R3 Pro, which I own and has even better audio quality than my LG V30, despite both having the same DAC. That is just how good this DAC is! An outdated dac would be the ES9018. Clearly you don't know a single thing about DACs.
Those higher quality "external USB dacs" that you mentioned also use the ES9218P/19P, such as my Shanling UA1 Pro. So your argument here is flawed.
Yeah I know, and can you guess which dac most of Hidisz' DAPs use? The ES9218P! FYI, my very first DAP was the Hidisz AP80. Both my AP80 and my LG V30 contain the ๐๐ซ๐๐๐ง ๐ฆ๐๐ ๐ dacs, and yet you are saying they cannot handle dsd? I think your brain is asleep ๐คฃ
Mate I gotta ask, do you even own an LG phone? Because if you do, then clearly you have not tried those DAC-optimized music players, such as Fiio Music or Hiby Music. Only those apps will allow you to play DSD files on Android. Try them. You're welcome.

The only thing is lacking is longer software support commitment, which will make sense when they can sell volumes, given that people buy them. There's already a huge fan following for Zenfone. Overall, it's pretty balanced phone to a large number of audience actually, only bummer is Asus refuses to sell it in most regions.
I hope the form factor would be the same, and the only thing changes bezel size.

And my next phone will have 0.68 inch larger screen and it be 161.1mm tall
So it gets only 2.5mm taller so my phone size wont change much.
I would like something like Samsung S22/23 or standard iphone 12/13/14 size with that 6.1inch screen but there is nothing in the market for my pudget and i dont want to buy 1-3 years old models as in electronics these are already too old for me and makes no sense to buy them as new out of the box and well i dont want to spend money on used phones cause they are used and can have issues.
I was looking to buy Pixel 6a for 350 euro but it's just trash that isnt even compact for 6.1 inch screen with 151mm tall and then has 60hz screen and nothing special that makes it worth to buy. Zenfone plus is that they have 3.5mm jack on there compact size that now isnt much compact anymore too and there price on new is just crazy.
Yeah Asus is good on doing PC motherboards and graphics cards but phones is a different story. Even Gigabyte wanted to make phones but didnt get far with them that is also known as motherboards and graphics cards.
Anonymous, 26 May 2023More small phones are welcome Well they are going bigger now as they changed from 5.9 inch to 6.3
Zuzuz, 27 May 2023Just for a few. Majority prefers to have a bigger one. They are just late adopters. The world will go towards smaller phones again. It's a fashion thing, but people usually get late to the party.

It's funny that you are contradicting yourself. You say they should release less number of models but go on to list more models than they are doing now.
ASUS has a few series brands under it's wing; ROG, TUF, Zen, and Vivo.
I think they should do less variants of phones, and just sell three phones in a year, same in every geographical market.
1 - Small, Sleek, Budget
2 - Medium, Functional, Affordable
3 - Large, Practical, Expensive
Here's what I'm proposing:
1) ASUS Vivofone
147 x 67 x 7.7mm
USD $500
Miniature Flagship
2) ASUS ZenFlip
153 x 73 x 8.3mm
USD $700
Rotating Camera
3) ASUS ROG Phone
168 x 78 x 9.8mm
USD $800
Headphone Jack, microSD, Gaming JoyCons inside the box

It could only really work on a low end phone with Unisoc or helio or low dimensity processor but low end phones always seem to be bigger than the flagships as well.
Bought a zenphone 9 from someone selling it for almost half-price at the Facebook marketplace. The Asus software is not the best, but the main problem is nobody wants to buy an asus phone 2nd hand unless it's dirt cheap.
