Recently, a shocking deepfake video targeted the upcoming Paris Olympics, using a deepfake version of Elon Musk to spread misinformation. Detecting deepfake videos has become crucially important. Traditional methods often fall short, as they typically only identify single-step manipulations. One advanced approach, "Sequential DeepFake Manipulation," focuses on detecting sequences of facial manipulations and even recovering the original faces. 🚀 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡: ✅ Sequential Detection: Instead of just labeling an image as real or fake, the model predicts the sequence of manipulations, such as 'Eyeglasses-Smiling-Beard'. This level of detail is crucial for understanding the manipulation's extent and intent. ✅ Advanced Techniques: The SeqFakeFormer model utilizes a combination of spatial and sequential relation modeling to detect subtle manipulation traces. ✅ Face Recovery: Beyond detection, the method can recover original faces from manipulated images, opening new avenues for forensic investigations. This is the promise of SEED-Story, a groundbreaking method for generating extended multimodal stories. Developed by a team of researchers from HKUST(GZ) and Tencent AI Lab, SEED-Story leverages a Multimodal Large Language Model (MLLM) to produce rich, coherent narratives interspersed with high-quality images. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐒𝐄𝐄𝐃-𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐈𝐭 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞? ✔ Multimodal Attention Sink Mechanism: This technique allows the model to generate long sequences of text and images efficiently. By maintaining a sliding window on the most recent tokens, SEED-Story can generate up to 30 sequences, far beyond the 10 sequences used during training. ✔Visual Tokenization and De-tokenization: To generate images that match the narrative text, SEED-Story uses a pre-trained Vision Transformer (ViT) as a visual tokenizer. This tokenizer converts images into features that the model can process. ✔Efficient Training with StoryStream Dataset: SEED-Story is trained on StoryStream, a large-scale, high-resolution dataset derived from animated videos. StoryStream contains sequences of narrative-rich texts and intriguing images, making it an ideal resource for training and evaluating multimodal story generation. SEED-Story is a significant advancement in the field of AI-generated content. By combining the strengths of large language models and vision transformers, it opens up new possibilities for creating rich, immersive stories that blend text and images seamlessly. Whether for education, entertainment, or social media, SEED-Story offers a powerful tool for the next generation of digital storytelling.
