Fast Company is proud to announce our fifth annual Queer 50 list, featuring a lineup of some of the most influential LGBTQ leaders in business, tech, and beyond. After a challenging year of anti-queer legislation and rhetoric, Queer 50 is a celebration of LGBTQ representation and influence. Honorees include those working on addressing responsible AI, trans rights, healthcare, and the future of work. Instead of ranking this year’s list, we chose to dive deeper into the accomplishments of 10 honorees: read stories about Roberta Kaplan, the attorney who represented E. Jean Carroll in her fight against Trump, and Jen Wong, the COO who helped take Reddit public. We’ve also considered all members of the LGBTQ community this year while still prioritizing the inclusion of historically marginalized gender identities. Leadership Coach, Author 'The Emotional Overdraft' & Non Executive Director in people based businesses
Great to speak to Fast Company in an article published last week on 'How leaders can Stop Working Weekends'. A recent Harvard Business School study found that CEOs work an average of 62.5 hours a week, with 79% working weekends. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics recently mandated a six-day workweek for leaders, to “inject a sense of crisis” after its weakest financial year in over a decade last year. I speak about how Samsung’s move reflects a profoundly misguided understanding of effective leadership (akin to placing a bucket under a leaky roof instead of repairing the roof), the real cost of working weekends, and some practical solutions to help you switch off the emails over the weekend. I'll drop the link in the comments if you'd like to have a read 👀 👇 #emotionaloverdraft #leadership #worklifebalance #burnout #effectiveleadership
