We are thrilled to share that we’ve welcomed visionary early childhood education and operations leader, Lynn Albright Daniels, to the Big Blue Marble Academy family as our new Chief Operating Officer. An industry veteran with more than 25 years of senior-level, expansion-focused experience, Lynn will lead our operations with a focus on scaled growth, efficiency and operational excellence. As we continue to acquire and build new locations across the south, her guidance will help to optimize our infrastructure – delivering results and energizing our team. Lynn is a passionate advocate for children’s education and well-being, as well as mentorship. In alignment with BBMA’s core values, she believes in creating supportive empowering environments where everyone, students and team members alike, are able to thrive. She already has the #BBMAHeart! We are thrilled to announce the expansion of Big Blue Marble Academy with the opening of two new schools in Huntsville, Alabama! Rocket City and the "hockey capital of the South" will now also be known for providing the highest quality early education for its children. Introducing our new locations: Plaza at 106 Plaza Blvd and Capshaw at 1854 Balch Road. And here's the real milestone: Our Capshaw center marks our 75th location! At BBMA, we're committed to fostering the growth and development of young minds. We hope you will join us this summer as Big Blue Marble Academy fights childhood cancer, one cup at a time, alongside Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation! Starting this week, you can join our students in raising money for this important cause by stopping by your local BBMA to enjoy a cup of delicious lemonade! You can also participate by making a donation through our Venmo (@BBMA2024). Don’t forget to include the center name you want to support! BBMA’s young learners will become our next leaders, and it is important they know they already have the ability to make a difference in their local and global communities today. We do this through service learning projects with organizations like Alex’s Lemonade Stand that make important causes easy to understand and act on within our schools. More than 17,000 children will be diagnosed with cancer in the United States this year – yet childhood cancer research is still underfunded. Our children are proud and eager to support this cause by raising awareness and funds to help the young boys and girls who are very sick receive the care they need. This summer, our children will plan, promote, and run lemonade stands – raising money to support childhood cancer research. All funds raised will support ALSF in their mission to support impactful research, raise awareness, and support the families of those fighting childhood cancer. At BBMA, we want our students to know that they have the ability to make meaningful contributions to the lives of others and solve real-world problems. This is our “why” behind service learning, which we call Heart Projects. These projects happen throughout the year and teach a variety of lessons – mindfulness, teamwork, and the power of community. Our Heart Projects help our children understand what it means to be a good citizen of the world by connecting them with people across the globe and in their very own communities while teaching compassion, care, and responsibility. These projects also teach a number of essential skills, which is why campers have a hand in every aspect of our Alex’s Lemonade Stand efforts. Our young learners will organize, spread the word about, and operate these stands, but they need YOU to make the stand a success! Alex’s Lemonade Stand events have officially begun and will be happening throughout the summer. We hope you will find a way to help our young learners help other boys and girls fight cancer and feel better by stopping by our student-created lemonade stands to support this wonderful cause. As local events are scheduled, they will be posted on our BBMA Facebook page. It hits different to see these photos from a world away with our logo displayed in a labor and delivery room in Sierra Leone, dedicated to Big Blue Marble Academy and our students. Seeing these images and knowing that our young students' efforts have saved new mothers and their children is profoundly moving. Rotifunk Hospital has honored us by dedicating its labor and delivery room to BBMA, featuring beautiful hand-drawn and handmade signage that perfectly captures our mission of caring for others. This powerful dedication is a testament to the boundless compassion and commitment of our BBMA family. We know that a global learning curriculum is more than introducing children to different countries, languages, and cultures—it’s about learning the role they play as good citizens in their community and our world. Helping to foster and grow positive character traits, such as responsibility, empathy, and persistence, is woven into our curriculum each month. Children are taught to think beyond themselves and to make sacrifices for the good of others. This is more than a dedication; it's a symbol of life, hope, and the extraordinary potential of our youngest learners to create positive change. Through our Change for a Change/Mission of Hope initiative, our children engage in service learning, which we call our Heart Projects. This year alone, our preschoolers and their families have helped provide prenatal and postnatal care for 140 mommies and babies. Now, every mother and family that brings a child into our world will see that kids across the globe are uniquely connected. We are overjoyed to announce the incredible success of our Change for a Change Heart Project! Together, with your generosity and compassion, we raised an astonishing $12,638.84 for Mission of Hope's Madonna Project. This means we're making a real difference in the lives of 140 mommies and their precious babies by providing vital pre- and post-natal care. Through this initiative, our little changemakers learned valuable lessons about compassion, empathy, and global citizenship, while actively spreading awareness.
