Expecting something similar, I also read another Afghan-centric book, endorsed by Khaled Hosseini, The Pearl That Broke Its Shell. It was so poorly-written that I abandoned it after a few chapters!
Yet it averages a remarkable 4.10 on Goodreads, so what do I know?
The Kite Runner, though, is a solid five stars!

A faultless, memorable read for sure!
I absolutely must read this book. I have read A Thousand Splendid Suns and loved it.. I really enjoy reading books about the Muslim culture. Will have to read this one soon.
