The mage Wang Lung is in love with the Empress, So Ling; but the Empress is married to the Emperor, and the Royal wants to take over the throne.
I'm sure this short story is plagued with symbolism, metaphors and whatnot, because I pretty much didn't understand a thing. Also really not fan of the style of writing; overly descriptive, hard to follow and overall uninteresting. Some interesting scenes near the end though.

Edith and Hans Nelson are a newlywed couple settling in Alaska, working the land and searching for gold. Along with Harkey, Dennin and Dutchy they form a hard-working and efficient partnership, gaining plenty of riches in very successful season. Then the unexpected occurs.
This was a great Gold Rush short story and one of the finest I’ve read by Jack London. I especially enjoyed the discourse about life and living by the expected and unexpected. Also cool learning about Alaska’s involvement during the Klondike Gold Rush era. The plot was decently plotted and well carried out. Never saw the unexpected coming; and enjoyed plenty all the buildup tension between Edith, Hans and Dennin until the final resolution.
Overall a fine short story, with memorable quotes and moments. An almost-fav. Recommendable.
Recomendable.

In a post-apocalyptic world an all-powerful AI has taken over the world. A few survivors are kept alive, just for the machine’s amusement.
Quite good for a short story. I particularly enjoyed Benny and Ellen, I think they made a cute couple; and Ted too, poor bastard. The ending was solid gold, or uhm, maybe silver.
This horror shortie is marked as the best of Harlan Ellison, and even though I did not love it, I can truly vouch for it. For meager 16 pages, I think it’s definitely worth the time. I mean it’s not wow; but it’s good, really good, for what it is. Looking forward to reading more of the author. Someday.

Kink Mitchell and Hootchinoo Bill are two gold prospectors during the Gold Rush era, extensively traveling the lands in search for that elusive precious metal, without much success sadly. It all changes when they hear about a new mining-town called “Dawson”.
A reasonably acceptable Gold Rush short story; not good, nor bad, just ok, and add some. I particularly enjoyed the ending jab, and learning a bit about “Dawson”.
