Flora Belle Buckman is a cynic nerdy kid, fascinated with comics, and especially with her favorites about horrible accidents and amazing superheroes. One normal day like any other, minding her own business, she notices her neighbor cleaning her garden, and accidentally vacuuming a poor innocent squirrel. In the most unexpected turn of events, the little thing somehow survives, and is born anew as Ulysses, mighty super hero squirrel!
This was an awesome little thing, and a fantastic combination of genres, intermittently changing from novella to comic strips. Funny, with a lot of quotable moments, and overall quite memorable; but for reason I can’t quite explain I didn’t love it. Maybe the extracts from “Terrible Things Can Happen To You”, “The Amazing Incandesto” or “The Criminal Element” got too repetitive, maybe Flora’s cynicism or her mother Phyllis’s cruelty became too much, maybe the ending felt a bit unconvincing, and underwhelming. I dunno. I have a whole bunch of highlights and lovelt moments I take with me, many laughs all through, I have the endearing George Buckman and William Spiver, and I have the adorable Ulysses saving the day, and still I didn’t love it, and I just KNOW I should have. Weird. Maybe it just wasn’t the right time, or I was in the wrong one.
But anyway, I’m positive any kid or adult with a child at heart can overlook all that and love this quirky little story quite plenty. DiCamillo really knows her stuff. Easy a four or five stars methinks, for the lucky illuminated ones.

No sé.

Percy Jackson helps Clarisse recover his father Aries War Chariot, before he finds out and punishes her. You never want to see God of War get mad!
This was a cute little short story. Even though they hate each other, Clarisse and Percy make a fantastic duo when they team up against adversity. Clarisse brothers, Deimos (God of Terror) and Phobos (God of Fear) also make their appearance. Quick, sweet and action packed. Overall enjoyable, but nothing too outstanding.

Percy Jackson, Thalia and Nico are summoned to the Underworld in hopes of recovering the stolen Sword of Hades, a weapon that could potentially turn the tides of the incoming war, especially if it reaches the hands of the evil Kronos.
This was an entertaining little short story. It was great to see Thalia and Nico again, however briefly. The three snarky demigods making a great team and fighting back to back protecting each other. Doomsday is at the doorstep. The invincible Kronos, Lord of Time, Luke, and the unstoppable army of gods, demigods and monsters progressively EPIC!
Doomsday is at the doorstep. The invincible Kronos, Lord of Time, Luke, and the unstoppable army of gods, demigods and monsters progressively approach Manhattan to finally destroy a lightly guarded Mount Olympus. Percy, Annabeth, Grover and a handful of determined demigods and allies, the only obstacles in their way. Nothing can stop the incoming onslaught, and the fulfillment of the so dreaded prophecy. Everything will be settled in an epic godlike battle that will forever decide the fate of the Olympians, and the future of the whole western civilization.
This is it, the end of the line. Gosh! This was so EPIC! So many things happening you can barely recount them all. The assault on Princess Andromeda, the exploration of Luke’s origins, Underworld’s River Styx, the Battle of Manhattan... Virtually every single character that had ever been part of the series had some sort of involvement in this final adventure. Percy, Annabeth, Grover, Clarisse, Nico, Tyson, Rachel, Mrs. O'Leary, Thalia, the Hunters of Artemis, Charles and Silena… So many of the gods too, like Poseidon, Amphitrite, Triton, Hestia, Hades, Persephone, Achilles, Athena, Hermes, Hecate… And the terrifying Titans, like Kronos, Typhon, Oceanus, Morpheus, Prometheus, Hyperion, Drakon… Everyone bringing their small or big contribution to this grand final confrontation. So many events, plot twists and conflicting sides fighting for their ideals, and still simple enough for one to never lose perspective of the big picture, never too overcrowded, or difficult to grasp the magnitude of it. After five books the build up was just explosive. Words fail me to describe such amount of EPICNESS, only comparable to the Battle of Hogwarts, or the Siege of Gondor. Unparalleled, and truly unforgettable.
This ended just right, beautifully in its way, although it was not a happy ending for everyone. Such an amazing conclusion to one of my most beloved series. And a universe I definitely plan to revisit soon, with Heroes of Olympus, and any of the other many series of the author. Bye all my dearest Heroes! And Percabeth Forever <3!

Some time after the events of The Titan's Curse, Percy is attacked by monsters while attending Goode High School. Returning to Camp Percabeth 4EVER!
Some time after the events of The Titan's Curse, Percy is attacked by monsters while attending Goode High School. Returning to Camp Half-Blood and reunited with his friends, they realize Luke and the Titan army may be on the move again, possibly seizing an opportunity through the secret underground tunnels to avoid the camp’s protections and invading it directly. In a perilous effort to prevent an imminent attack; Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Tyson risk their way through the many dangers and immenseness of the magical Labyrinth in a desperate attempt to find its creator Daedalus, before it is too late.
This was a fantastic installment, highly entertaining and full of wild adventures; yet as excellent as it was, and despite several high key notes, for some reason I remember it as my least favorite of them all. It was wonderful to see several old characters return to the main scene again, like Tyson and Nico; and lovely to meet a few new ones, like Juniper and Ethan. The unpredictable vastness of the magical Labyrinth provided ample room for some unique and crazy encounters; the island of Calypso and Pan’s resting place being the best and most memorable ones. The fourth entry decently action packed as always. Some epic battles against monsters like Kampe, Geryon, Antaeus, and telekhines, among others. Appearances of deities like Pan, Calypso, Hephaestus, Hera and Poseidon, among others. And how to forget, that unforgettably magical moment. (view spoiler)[Percabeth officially happening!
(view spoiler)[ ¡Percabeth sucediendo oficialmente! A few months after the events of The Sea of Monsters, during a terrible battle against a Manticore, Annabeth is lost and presumably dead. Best yet!
A few months after the events of The Sea of Monsters, during a terrible battle against a Manticore, Annabeth is lost and presumably dead. Afterwards Percy has a dream, and it is revealed that she could still be saved, but at a terrible cost, since someone has to endure the burden of Atlas. A fatal prophecy of the Oracle doesn’t help one bit with their hopes of success. In a desperate quest against time, a group of brave demigods set their way to rescue their missing friend.
This was just EXCELLENT! My favorite of the series. It was wonderful to see Tyson again, however briefly. Loved the introduction of Thalia and everything she brought to the group, Zoe and the Hunters of Artemis. siblings Nico and Bianca. So many new characters, yet each one with very different motives and distinct personalities, not one similar to the other; each one so unique, and lovable in their way. And roguish Percy sneaking his way to assist the quest. The ever danger of losing Annabeth or Percy kept me gripping my seat at all times, the possibility of their doom so near, threatening every turn, had me fearing for my life with each step they made. Unforgettable battles against mythical figures like the Manticore, the Nemean Lion and Talos, among others. Appearances of Artemis, Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares and Athena, among other gods. A terrible final confrontation with loses for both sides, and a painfully bittersweet ending. (view spoiler)[ for Zoe and Thalia! (hide spoiler)]

(hide spoiler)]
Some time after the events of The Lighting Thief, Camp Half Blood protection spells starts waning to the point of almost breaking apart Tyson 4Ever.
Some time after the events of The Lighting Thief, Camp Half Blood protection spells starts waning to the point of almost breaking apart completely, leaving its borders wide open and unprotected from monster attacks. Upon the impending destruction of the only haven left for demigods, Percy, Annabeth, Tyson and Clarisse embark on a desperate quest to find the Golden Fleece, the only sacred relic capable of healing Thalia’s Tree and restore its defensive powers. On a separate plane, Grover missing and possibly subject of a fatal destiny. His time running short, or maybe already too late.
This was a fantastic sequel. Percy and Annabeth great as always, Clarisse still hateful but scoring some redeeming points, but of all the characters the ever innocent and selfless Tyson was the one that truly captured my heart. Amazing character development. A bit slowly paced compared to the first installment, but still fully action packed. Some epic memorable moments and incredible battles against mythological figures like giants, Hydra, Scylla, Charybdis, Circe and Polyphemus, among others. Luke was also there. And you gotta love the Hippocampi! The ending was spectacular, hilarious, crazy, and terrible. And an absolutely mind blowing cliffhanger to seal the deal. (view spoiler)[Thalia! (hide spoiler)]
*** The movie (2013) was a somewhat better adaptation, at least compared to the disappointing first. Fairly faithful to the book, and averagely entertaining. Thank god Head replaced Brosnan as Chiron! Lerman and Daddario a bit more seasoned and convincing this time. Ambience, pacing and ending good enough, I guess. Nevertheless, despite some things done right, the sequel was yet again overall not convincing and failed to hit all the right spots, and by far. Acceptable enough to be watched, yet not enjoyable enough to be worth it. I love the series, but regarding the movies, I can live without, and I’m not surprised this was the last one to be filmed.

2014 was the best year of my young reader’s life. Bought a tablet, discovered Goodreads, and with it an endless sea of possibilities and books I never knew existed. That year I devoured all the Giver, Hunger Games and Divergent series one after the other, but Percy Jackson was my very first.
I just loved Percy, Annabeth, Grover and Sally. Hated so much Gabe! And Clarisse, at least at the beginning. I was completely enamored by the world building and all of its fantastic characters, the greek mythology references, the never ending reveals, the engrossing story progression, and the nonstop action. This book was unmatched YA heaven. How can I ever forget Camp Half Blood, the Lotus Casino, the fights against so many mythological figures like the Minotaur, the Furies, Medusa, Echidna, Chimera, Ares, Cerberus... *** The movie (2010) was a joke and one of the most disappointing adaptations I've ever watched. I mean it was so awkwardly filmed! The moderately faithful plot and the great special effects were there, granted, and maybe even some of the acting too; but it all felt so clumsy and disjointed! And so many things were cut out. It was all so sad, the intention was clearly there, but the spirit was definitely not. Hardly a match to the book. Lerman and Daddario may have been ok, at best; but Brosnan as Chiron was so laughable. And the ending so insulting to the series progression! (view spoiler)[Fighting Kronos? Really???
