SUPER AWESOME Throne of Glass Design Contest! (And a brief update!)

So, I’m currently writing this from Adelaide, Australia (which is awesomeee), and just spent the past two weeks in New Zealand, road tripping from Auckland all the way down to Queenstown (no words to describe how amazing this trip was, but perhaps my Instagram will do it some justice)! I’ll have a more detailed recap of everything in my December newsletter, but because I’m on the road (and newslet Read more of this blog post »

“To the people who look at the stars and wish, Rhys."
Rhys clinked his glass against mine. “To the stars who listen— and the dreams that are answered.”
Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

“Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”
Sarah J. Maas, Throne of Glass

“You could rattle the stars," she whispered. "You could do anything, if only you dared. And deep down, you know it, too. That’s what scares you most.”

“When I was alive, I believed — as you do — that time was at least as real and solid as myself, and probably more so. I said 'one o'clock' as though I could see it, and 'Monday' as though I could find it on the map; and I let myself be hurried along from minute to minute, day to day, year to year, as though I were actually moving from one place to another. Like everyone else, I lived in a house bricked up with seconds and minutes, weekends and New Year's Days, and I never went outside until I died, because there was no other door. Now I know that I could have walked through the walls. (...) You can strike your own time, and start the count anywhere. When you understand that — then any time at all will be the right time for you.”
Peter S. Beagle, The Last Unicorn

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”
Roald Dahl

“Llonio said life was a net for luck; to Hevydd the Smith life was a forge; and to Dwyvach the Weaver-Woman a loom. They spoke truly, for it is all of these. But you,' Taran said, his eyes meeting the potter's, 'you have shown me life is one thing more. It is clay to be shaped, as raw clay on a potter's wheel.”
Lloyd Alexander, Taran Wanderer

“Perhaps,' Taran said quietly, watching the moon-white riverbank slip past them, 'perhaps you have the truth of it. At first I felt as you did. Then I remember thinking of Eilonwy, only of her; and the bauble showed its light. Prince Rhun was ready to lay down his life; his thoughts were for our safety, not at all for his own. And because he offered the greatest sacrifice, the bauble glowed brightest for him. Can that be its secret? To think more for others than ourselves?'

That would seem to be one of its secrets, at least,' replied Fflewddur. 'Once you've discovered that, you've discovered a great secret indeed--with or without the bauble.”
Lloyd Alexander, The Castle of Llyr

“If you do follow your bliss you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living. Follow your bliss and don't be afraid, and doors will open where you didn't know they were going to be.”
Joseph Campbell

Daphne Delacroix Hi, Miss Mass!

I wanted to ask you if you knew where I could find certified ToG and ACOTAR merchandise. I tried looking it up online, but there were so many different links that I couldn't tell which were trusted retailers and which weren't (either from independent sources or otherwise).

Thank you for your time!
Daphne.

message 47: by Lilith Night (last edited Jan 07, 2016 11:56AM)

Lilith Night This makes me think of Aelin from how her character grew from books 1 as Celaena Sardothien to finally being herself in book 4 as Aelin Ashryver Galathynius! ^_^

"Let the hard things in life break you. Let them effect you. Let them change you. Let these hard moments inform you. Let this pain be your teacher. The experiences of your life are trying to tell you something about yourself. Don't cop out on that. Don't run away and hide under your covers. Lean into it.

What is the lesson in this wind? What is this storm trying to tell you? What will you learn if you face it with courage? With full honesty and - lean into it."

-Pema Chodron

CAN'T WAIT FOR BOOK 5!! :D Also book 2 of ACOTAR!!

message 44: by Jayda

Jayda Hi Sarah! I love the Throne of Glass series, as well as ACOTAR (I cant wait for ACOMAF I NEED IT NOW!!), and I have a couple of questions how mating works.

Will Aelin know instantly if she has mated or will it take time?

Also, can you have two mates, since Rowan's mate was already Lyria does that mean he cant have another mate?

One of your biggest fans that is 'paitently' waiting for TOG5 and ACOMAF,

Jayda

message 43: by Cam

Cam Sarah, I hope someday I can understand why you ruined Chaol, I love you.

message 42: by Fera

Fera Flies Free ACOTAR gave me a whole new meaning of a retelling story. You took it to a higher level where I can feel that ACOTAR is a retell of Beauty and The Beast, but it has something more.. more intensity, more raw feeling, more details that dazzled me and brought me to a whole new world. Like you had this raw and uncut gems then you make it to a beautiful, alluring, mesmerizing diamonds that trapped anyone's attention as they glimpsed them.

message 41: by Vanessa

Vanessa Vazquez Sarah you are amazing, I love you and your books. Your writing is so beautiful i keep wanting for more and more. I promise you i will always read anything that you will write.

message 40: by Ashley

message 38: by Erynne

Erynne Thank you so so much for writing! I have to say that you make the world a better place because of your words. I loved Court of Thorns and Roses and I also absolutely loved the Throne of Glass books, and I can't wait until Queen of Shadows comes out! As a fellow member of Pennsylvania, I am proud that we live in the same state!

message 37: by Sanja

Sanja I'm not sure if you can comprehend how much you can make happy someone on the other side of the world. If karma exists, You should get back so much luck and happines, only from me :)

Write quickly, please. And looong!

message 36: by Jamie (last edited May 03, 2015 07:15PM)

Jamie Roeske (*Jam and her TBR Jar*) Miss. Maas. I. Love. Youuuuu. Sorry... I just really needed to get that out. :) I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for writing such amazing books and for, more specifically, writing about Celaena. I feel like she is the exact character that I have waited my entire life for someone to write about. She has had such a huge impact on me and I just want to say thank you. I may or may not have developed a little bit of a girl crush on her! :) I can't flipping wait for Queen of Shadows and I am so excited to begin A Court of Thorns and Roses when ever I can get my hands on it.

I hope you have an amazing day! Happy writing!!

message 34: by Char

Char Did you...did you really just friend me?! Or did someone hack your account and do that? That'd probably make more sense. S.J, I look back so fondly on your Fictionpress days where I first became obsessed with Queen of Glass. It was absolute torture when you took her down from the site, and we had to wait forever for Throne of Glass to be published!! Now I'm getting a huge sense of deja vu while I wait for Queen of Shadows, but that same flutter of butterfly wings has taken up camp in my stomach for your series (something that hasn't happened for me since Harry Potter.) Thank you for being so wonderful and providing me with hours of laughter, tears, happiness, heartbreak, righteous anger, and suspense during Aelin's journey.

message 23: by Ankita

Ankita I loved 'Crown of Midnight' to the core.. It was so super amazing... Being a second book in the series it was better than the first one 'Throne of Glass' which was already AMAZING!! I am your fan now.. Your writing is crisp and I am so happy that I picked your books.. It so made my day.

PS-- Read 'Crown of Midnight' as soon as it was out. I was waiting for it ever since I read Throne of Glass and the waiting was so worth it.
