And remember--it's okay to publish as an Indy or traditionally, just remember what publishing means--taking your work and line editing it (story, content, character, plot, etc.,) and then line edit it (continuity, grammar, fact checking where facts are important, even in fiction,) find the right artist or create yourself an amazing cover, write great copy, and produce and promote. There are many people out there today who facilitate Indy work--find the good ones! Traditional and small press publishers handle most of the above, so the decisions are all in your hands these days. Most important and always will be--hone your skills, tell a great story--and get the best book out there that you can!(less)

Dear ReaderFade to Black is about to hit the stands—physical and digital stands! It’s a book I loved working on—one that started out at a comic con.
I love cons. The first picture is of amazing actor Doug Jones and myself at a comic con in New Orleans. He was promoting a movie while I was at a wonderful booth with Sue Quiroz, once long-time assistant to Anne Rice and creator of some of the most ama Read more of this blog post »

Thanks! I'm really excited about college and getting my writing out there for others to read. Your reply made my day, I've never talked to any of my favorite authors before! :)

Heather Graham Thanks so much! April--sounds like you are on the right track. When you're out of school, join some writing organizations--mystery writers of america, romance writers of america . . . they're great and really helpful, keep you aware of who is buying what and have access to editors and agents! Good luck!

Jan, thank you so much!

Best to you both in school!

April Hello Heather! I recently discovere3d your books and I immediately fell in love with your writing! I love the paranormal aspects of your stories(like the Harrison Investigations). I haven't read too much of your books yet, but I plan to this summer when I get out of school. I'm an aspiring writer, and going to school for English(most likely editing) this fall, and I'd love to hear any advice you have for a wannabe published writer :) Thanks! -April
