It is possible to find colors in the garden even in mid-winter, in these dark days when the sun reaches its nadir. Evergreen Barberry keeps its leaves all winter long, add in some winter light and frosty dewdrops to create a magical capture!

"It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it." ~ John Burroughs

It's been a long time since Stockholm had snow and freezing cold in December. I think 10 years ago.

And how wonderful it is with snow.. It gets brighter in the evenings when the snow shines.

Cold weather also means dry air, you don't feel the cold.

The sun is visible for a few short hours during the day.

I love winter!!

After a warmer than usual Autumn ... the cooler temperatures and winter snow have arrived. HFF and enjoy the weekend.

Our first good snowfall at Snoqualmie Pass area. I do love the snow!

I will be on break for some time, visiting family on the East Coast to spend the holidays, and once I return I have another back surgery scheduled.

I will check in as I can.

Until then:

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all of you!!!!!!!!

Winter in February can be so beautiful. Sun, last year's autumn leaves, 21 degrees, freshly squeezed orange juice.

Fornalutx, Majorca. Spain.

There are strange and mysterious sounds

When the winds of winter blow,

The long nights are crystal clear and cold,

And the fields and meadows are covered with snow.

The stars are frosty against the sky,

And the wind's whistle is shrill,

As the snow blows against the house

And drifts against the hill.

Yet, I like to see during the winter

A white carpet on the ground,

To plod aimlessly in the deep snow,

where deer tracks abound.

I like to feel the stillness

Of a crisp winter's night,

Watching a full moon rise over the horizon,

Exposing a winter wonderland beautiful and bright.
