The DROID Turbo Lollipop Soak Test Is In Full Swing

For many users who own an Android device, one of the most coveted attributes is having the latest version of the software which Google puts out for the masses. In this case it’s Lollipop. Many factors come into play which slow down the process for individual devices as well as OEM’s and the entire device lineup, which in turn tends to keep the percentage of users on the newest software at a slow increase rate. This is pretty much how it’s been for DROID Turbo owners on the Verizon Wireless network, who are still waiting on the official Lollipop OTA to hit their devices. There is a silver lining on the horizon though as the soak test for Lollipop 5.1 is now in full effect.

Just last week is was reported that the soak test may be coming soon, and later in the day on June 29th some Verizon customers began to see the soak test arrive on their devices. At the time there weren’t any details on what specific changes or tweaks would be made since neither Motorola nor Verizon had posted a changelog, nor was the soak test officially rolling out to many users. That changed as of this morning and the soak test is now officially live. So what’s to be expected besides the general Lollipop associated changes that every device from any OEM sees?

First, if you’re a DROID Turbo owner, know that this brings you up to software version build 23.11.38. Also be aware that since this is a soak test, not all DROID Turbo owners are going to be included or see the software update. If the soak test goes well, and quite honestly there is every reason to believe it will as Motorola’s other soak tests have gone rather swimmingly, Motorola’s David Schuster points out that the update should begin rolling out to all users later on in the week. As for the changes, users can expect to see a new Ambient Display option, as well as a new flashlight option in quick settings, tons of material design, Device Protection, and Trusted Devices.
