This is for the 55” Omni

Price - it was $450 off, so half of what I paid for a TCL 2 years ago. Picture is about equal quality too.

Bluetooth remote is great, although it doesn’t always work the volume of my Onkyo receiver. But it is comfortable to hold and the buttons are so much better than the Chromecast with Google TV’s buttons.

The interface is very nice, and quite responsive.

Alexa built in is nice, especially when I run my bedtime routine and it displays my calendar of upcoming events. But I do have issues with Alexa as well.

I like being able to view the Ring cameras on it. I like that it will display reminders on the screen, but with 14 Echo devices in the house, I generally hear them anyway!

I didn’t install many apps, and have loads of memory left. I was using a Chromecast with Google TV prior to this, and that stupid thing would run out of memory. No more Google Hardware for me!!

Dislikes:
Auto power off with no menu option to control it! (I found a way to fix this.)

Settings menu is missing some important settings for power, hardware sleep/ auto power off, and is laid out rather strangely.

Issues with losing sound via ARC when pausing or fast forwarding a show. Changed audio from Auto to Passthough and that has finally seemed to resolve this. I tried every setting before settling on Passthrough.
*** Nothing seems to fix this!!! It is so annoying to skip ahead and then lose the sound! The only way to fix it is to reboot the TV. I found holding Select and Play together for about 8 seconds will force a reboot. This is going to make me dump this TV! Subtracting another star!!!
The only other thing I try is using an optical cable connection from the tv to the receiver. If that fixes it, I’ll post another update.

The remote has no customizable buttons for one touch access to YouTube TV. I will probably never use Disney + or Hulu, unless someone gives one of them to me free again. The remote seems to go to sleep or something and doesn’t always respond on the first button press.

Volume and mute functions do not always work. Sometimes when pressing mute, I get the mute symbol on the screen, but the sound does not mute until a second press. Then when I want to unmute, the first press will bring the sound back, but the mute symbol remains on screen until I press mute again. Very annoying.
The volume will almost always go down, but sometimes will not go up. If I press down, then up, it will go up just a little. I have to them grab my receiver’s remote to raise the volume. I don’t know if this is an ARC issue or remote issue or something to do with the IR flasher. I’m going to remove the IR and see what happens.

I have problems with Alexa not being able to turn the TV on or off unless I talk right in front of it and it is the only echo device that responds. Otherwise I get the response about “I found more than one device with the name TV. Rename your devices or put then in a group …. “ This is crazy! There is only one device named TV! I have gone through all my devices multiple times! I created a “turn on the TV” routine to turn it on which generally works. The bedtime routine always works, although tonight, for the first time, it didn’t read the calendar events aloud. It highlighted each one like it was reading them though. It is just buggy. And Alexa is sometimes crazy.

In Summary:
I wouldn’t buy this at full price, and I will likely replace it next year if I can get a deal on a 65” OLED TV. But for just over a hundred bucks, it is a great deal.

PS:
I found a You Tube video that told how to modify and turn off the auto power off on a Fire Stick. It was pretty similar on the TV. You first have to allow ADB on the TV. I used a Chromebook with a tiny Android ABD app that allowed me to connect to the TV via its IP address and change the timeout to 0. I left my screensaver at 5 minutes, so now my photos will show for more than a few minutes. It took me about 20 minutes to research, find the app, and watch the important part of the video.
I have let it go an hour, so I don’t know if it might auto eventually turn off, but I don’t think so. I can now go to the bathroom and come back and not have to restart my TV and apps. Hopefully a system update won’t undo this!
