Customer Review

I pride myself on reading reviews before making a purchase of any consequence. Right down to smaller items like water pics and earbuds. So how did I miss that the Amazon Fire TV has no interface to Charter/Spectrum cable? Brand new TV and I'm back to carrying around several remotes because of this! I called customer service and was informed that there are no plans to ever have an interface . On top of that, there's no consistency with powering the TV on and off. If I try to use my voice without the remote, as advertised, Alexa simply says okay, turns the TV off and turns it back on. Turns it on right back to live TV, not just a standby mode. I have to use the power button on the remote to really get it to turn off. In addition, although I have programmed it to power on to the same input I was on when I powered off, it doesn't do that. Usually it powers on to the main home menu and I have to now use the remote to switch to the input I had left off on. I labeled my first HDMI port with the name "cable", but if I ask it to switch to cable, Alexa often comes back and says "don't have access to cable" so then I have to say switch to HDMI 1 . But, sometimes I ask for HDMI 1 and Alexa comes back and says "do you mean cable?" These are just a few examples of the inconsistency of the interface. And in this review I'm using words like usually, often, and sometimes because I can't say that the problem exists 100% of the time. I find that inconsistency actually makes it even worse. Guess what? I bought two of these beauties and I am beyond the deadline to return them. Note, there is even a disparity between the two TVs in how they operateI I find it very frustrating and regret my purchase, despite believing I had found such a great deal because of the price. I gave the Fire TV an extra star because I do appreciate the clarity of picture. Not a good investment.
