Unfortunately, unless you’re willing to spend thousands on the great big deluxe models, the standard seats often leave much to be desired. They can make the rear end sorer than a wasp bite. However, the Auvon wheelchair seat has been a significant relief for him. At least now, it provides some comfort in this department. He mentioned that it helps relieve the pressure on his backside!

This is a nice cushion, but I would recommend only buying it if you need the cut-out for your tailbone. It's a useful feature if it's needed, but the issue it causes is that the cushion loses some structural support due to the absence of foam in that spot. This causes the rear of the cushion to sink down a bit further with weight on it and the front sits higher. It isn't a major issue, but it was noticeable and uncomfortable for my mom, so we decided to return it and get one without the notch in the back. Otherwise, the cushion has a nice feel to it and the quality is good. I have no complaints about the product other than the minor structural uniformity issue, and I have no doubt that buyers would be happy with it if they have a need for the notch.

I bought this for my friend, who uses her chair all day, and has chronic pain. She's so much more comfortable in her chair with this cushion. Her back doesn't get nearly as sore. The only minor concern is that it's thick enough that it doesn't fold up, so I have to remove it before putting her wheelchair in my car. But the good thing is that it stays in place even without attaching the straps.
