This is by far the best pill cutter and most accurate I've used. I've tried 8 over the past year and a half - just about every different kind and type. I take a lot of medicines (a LOT - pills, capsules, and tablets) of varying shapes and sizes. When one of my meds switched from an oblong average sized pill to a SUPER tiny teeny round one and I was directed to cut in half, I needed one that could cut it properly without causing any crush or debris. So my search began. I tried several kinds that had "secure in place" and "holders" and "extra sharp blade" and all sorts of things. They ALL left some crush residue behind and had a rate of crush and uneven cuts that made them frustrating - even if they were easy on my arthritic hands.
These scissors - while not quite as easy when dealing with arthritis, they are still manageable for me - have scissor blades that are wonderfully sharp for the pills, which makes a CLEAN and EVEN break leaving me with two perfect halves and no dust residue or ruined/disproportionate doses. But the "blades" like any scissors aren't the kind that would cut YOU, leaving it safe to use one hand to hold the pill in the scissors and adjust as needed and continue holding it gently while using the other hand to use the scissors and cut the medication without fear of cutting your hand if things fumble or any mishaps.
This makes them perfect in every conceivable way for me, and easy as pie to take with me to use where I am no hassle.
One year later of cutting multiple pills every few days, and the scissor blades FINALLY MIGHT be starting to get slightly less sharp. I think I may want to replace them in a few more months time. Thats some really good wear factor! And theres been no distressing of the metal of the blades with wear or washing (no discoloration, uneven wear, rusting, etc etc).
Definitely recommend this listing. If youre looking for a pill cutter for something small (too small for majority of the hinge cutters even when those list they are good for "XS pills") that leaves no residue and never destroys or unevenly cuts, THIS IS IT.

My cat had to take thyroid pills which were very tiny with a hard coating on them. The dosage required them to be cut in half but the size and coating of the pills made the regular cheap pill cutters useless. I went through 4 drugstore pill cutters before resorting to searching for a better solution. These shears worked so well! And the price was very good. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for a good pill cutter. My only tip is to place the pill carefully in the shears and hold it there, then slip the whole thing inside a plastic bag before snipping because the two pieces of the pill fly out in each direction. I cut several pills inside the bag and then collected them and stored in a pill box.

After watching videos of the clumsy razer blade cutters, I decided to get this instead. Sure it's pricier. But you really do get more than you pay for. Once you close the blades slowly to "bite/hold" onto the pill, you slowly apply pressure and it cuts perfectly. Product is well made and seems like it will last a long time. Highly recommended!
