The fabric is stretchy, comfy, great pockets, love the longer length. I usually wear size 16 US (36" waist, 45.5 hip) and ordered a XL. Fit was great in the back and waistband, and inner liner. However, I had some weird bunching in the front crotch as it didn't fit my shape quite right. I have large thighs (pear shape) and the shorts were pulling to the front slightly. Hard to explain because they're weren't tight, just slightly awkward. I'm super picky about fit as I'm learning to sew and fit my body properly.

I will probably keep them as I love everything else about them and they will be great to try for running / walking in the warm weather. I normally wear leggings to prevent chafing and riding up, but wanted to try something else for variety or when I don't want to wear something as fitted.

Why the zipper along your back?

First, let me say I love this brand and have other shorts made by them. But with these shorts, actually sold as “Running” and “Athletic,” the placement of such and inflexible zipper with a bulky pull end is pretty much torture once you actually…well…exercise in them! Because they’re laterally positioned right in that spot at your lower spine and just above your butt, the thin exercise material that’s suppose to hold that inflexible zipper in place turns in with normal body movement. That means you have a metal zipper poking you in your lower back the entire time you’re exercising! I tried cutting the zipper out, but the material is so thin (because lightweight to exercise in) that I tore up the fabric too much to repair…so ruined the shorts. So if you just want to wear these around, without too much bending or twisting or actually moving too much, you’ll be fine. And they do look nice and are the right length. But really wish BALEAF would redesign these and put this pocket anywhere other than the small of your back!

I’m 5ft 8” and between a size 12 and 14 in the hips/backside. I ordered a size Large and they are a little big but not hanging off. I probably could have gone with a medium. I play netball really hate the fact my normal training shorts are so short! These are great if you want more coverage. I can now lunge and run without worrying about anything being on show. They are very stretchy with a large waist band that’s comfy. I do get some movement when I run but that’s because they are a little big for me. I think if I had a medium they would sit in place.
