Good grill for the money. Lost a star for annoying sticker removal.
This is a fine grill for the price, it is sturdy and of the quality you would expect from a Weber. As far as assembly, it went together easily, if you are an instructions follower you may get confused by the bags of hardware which are numbered in an odd manner. The design basically uses one main fastener (which is a fine concept), but putting them in 9 bags that don't correspond with the steps nor the sections seems an odd choice. Ignore the bag numbers and make a dish of each type of fastener whether you are following the instructions or not. The instructions looked like they would be easy to follow and made it pretty obvious as to whether you needed the screw used 95% of the time or an obviously different one. The packaging was well designed and the grill was undamaged in shipment.The overall solid construction you'd expect from Weber is present and the simple but effective design remains from past models. There are improvements over older models, the ignition button has a remote battery that is easily changed and is a normal AA. The grease catching pan is still a Weber specific proprietary size, but there are non-Weber replacements out there now. The grates are of better quality than most grills in this price range and my testing showed the built in thermometer to be within 5 degrees of what my high quality one read when doing an initial firing test. It heats evenly and comes up to temp fast. The cooking surface if plenty big even though this model is a two burner/grate vs. three.My main complaint is that it took me almost as long to remove the sticker goo left behind by the promotional info Weber glued to the stainless portion of the grill as it did to assemble the entire grill. I already bought the thing, I know what features it has. There is a book included that shows you how to use the features in case they aren't obvious (which they are). So about 45 minutes assembling and 30 with goo-gone. I really wish manufacturers would stop this annoying trend. Stop trying to sell me a product I already bought with super sticky promotional material slapped to my purchase.
