I recently completed my project of automating the house’s lights. I used a mix of all Kasa switches, single poles, 3 ways, dimmers and even a 3 way dimmer. It was an investment even though these are somewhat cheap in a 3 pack, I needed up automating 31 light switches in my house (no joke). I bought a few at a time and took 5-6 months of the project a little at a time. Now I can control all the lights with Kasa and Alexa. I grouped them and created routines activated by voice, time (sunset/sunrise) and even event-based (turn on a light in the bathroom-it turns off automatically 10 mins later). The features of automating the home is essential now that I have the right devices! These Kasa switches are reliable and good quality. If you are confident to do your own work but not sure how to wire these (like the 3 way switches), the Kasa app shows you step-by-step how to do it. Very Nice!! I noticed right away the wires were tinned to give them a solid connection when wire nutting the switches. The setup was easy in the app being these are wifi, and they are very easy to operate. They come with a single gang cover plate, but in most cases I had 2-3 switches in a box so I bought other covers to have the same look and feel. I also got a cover to cover switches that should not be turned off like my yard floodlights or driveway camera. But I can still oowercycke them easy with the Kasa app or Alexa.Take your time to do the project. If there is any doubt on electrical-seek a professional. I’m a capable DIYer so I did mine on my own. The biggest problem with these was pulling out the neutral and ground wires which were never used for the old switches. The other biggest issue I had was how the builder’s electrician for the house building, was lazy about how things were chained together. If you tackle this project, invest an extra $20 ina voltage detector and a line tracer (the orange thing in my pics) this helps you trace which switch is powere by what breaker so you can shut them off. In some cases, I had 2 feeds into a box which powered one light or another, so it helps to spend the extra few $ to have a simple tool to be safe. Wire nutting is also important. Be sure your connections are secure!

Switching to the Kasa Smart 3 Way Switch HS210 KIT from a failing Wemo smart switch was a decision driven by necessity, but it turned out to be one of the best home improvement choices I've made. My initial wariness quickly dissolved thanks to the switch’s superior performance and value.

Installation was a breeze. Unlike the complex setup often associated with smart switches, Kasa made the process foolproof with its step-by-step guide in the app. This ease of installation, combined with the clear instructions, made it accessible, even for someone with limited experience in DIY electrical work.

The switch itself is robust and has a satisfying tactile feel, significantly better than the Wemo version I previously used. Its design fits standard wall plates, seamlessly blending into my home without the need for any modifications.

I also love the hardly noticable light ring built into the switch when it is turned off, making for ease of locating the switch in the dark.

Functionality-wise, the switch shines with its smart features. The ability to control lighting from anywhere using the Kasa app is not just a convenience; it’s a game-changer. I particularly love the scheduling feature, which I use to automatically turn off the pantry and closet lights after 5 minutes, addressing the all-too-common issue of lights being left on.

The integration with voice assistants like Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant adds another layer of ease, allowing for hands-free control that feels futuristic yet intuitive.

From a cost perspective, the Kasa HS210 offers exceptional value. Its performance, ease of use, and reliability come at a price point that’s hard to beat, making it not just a smart choice for now, but also a cost-effective investment for the future.

The Kasa Smart 3 Way Switch HS210 KIT has exceeded my expectations in every aspect. Its installation simplicity, user-friendly app, functional reliability, and cost-effectiveness make it a standout product. I’m so satisfied with its performance that I plan to replace my remaining Wemo switches with Kasa’s offering. For anyone looking to upgrade their home lighting system, this smart switch is a brilliant choice.

Let me get a couple of things out of the way first.

For starters, you MUST have a Neutral wire in your switchbox to use these dimmers. That is generally the White wire, and owing to sometimes dubious electrical work, you may not have a neutral inside your switchbox. Don't blame the dimmers if there's no neutral.

Second, these dimmers are a tight fit. Again, if your switchboxes are adequately sized and the electrician who wired them did a decent job, this will not be an issue. And even if at first glance inside the box you think the dimmer won't fit, take your time and see if you can move some wires around to make it fit.

Hopefully you haven't been scared off by these caveats because in every other sense these are great dimmers! They work perfectly, are super-easy to integrate with your home automation, look great and are ridiculously inexpensive.

Once you get the dimmer installed in the wall-box you can snap on the included screwless cover. What? A screwless cover that would normally cost another $3-8 is included? Yup. If the dimmer is installed in a multi-gang box alongside other switches, don't forget to remove the snap-cover mounting plate. This allows the dimmer to sit flush to the plate with other devices and it fits right in with clean, modern Decora devices.

So there are 3 things that I was looking for in the operation of these dimmers and this is how this one performed:

    1) Manual operation is straightforward and easy to learn, with lots of great control options. Tap once to turn the lights on or off to their preset value. Great if you want to always go to a particular setting. Hold the button down to power up the light at full intensity. A great feature that's a faster than stepping up the brightness manually.

    2) Automated operation is also great, whether you use the Kasa app or as in my case, Amazon's Alexa. I can't speak for other brands but the integration between Kasa and Alexa is great. The dimmer offers multiple presets and you can recall any of them right from your Alexa device, or speak out specific light levels (Alexa, 20 percent...).

    3) Dimmers are not all the same, some cause lights to flicker, or they make abrupt changes in brightness as they are adjusted. These work exactly as you would expect them to. Smooth transitions, no flickering, and no abrupt drops from low level to total blackness.

OK, the kicker here is that these great Wi-Fi connected "smart" dimmers cost less than those old "dumb" slide dimmers you buy at the home improvement store! More features, more technology, greater functionality, less cost. That's the formula of disruption at play and the beneficiary is you. Go buy some dimmers!

I bought these lights for a new home and they work great. It gives me the ability to create automations to cut the lights on at certain times and they look nice too. They are pretty budget friendly as well. I know enough about electrical work to know to cut off the breaker, disconnect the old, connect the new, and cut the breaker back on. I test before I fully install, so there is a little back and forth for me. I have installed 3 single poles and 3 double poles. I am going to add the 3 pole dimmers next. Each one is a slightly different look, but they are easy to install. I have to admit that I did view a YouTube video or two. But, it is all good. If there is a downside, it is that they are connected to wi-fi. I do not have a drag or slowdown in my wi-fi with what I have, so I am not concerned. When I am done, there will only be 20 or so.

I recently purchased the [Kasa wifi] smart switch, and it has transformed my home automation experience. This nifty device has made it incredibly convenient to control my lights and appliances with just a few taps on my phone or a voice command to Alexa. However, my experience with it had a few bumps along the way, hence the five-star rating, as it largely depends on the wiring in your house and the device you're using to set it up.

Setting up the smart switch was a breeze in terms of the physical installation. The clear instructions provided made it easy to connect the wires correctly, and the switch itself is of excellent quality. However, when it came to configuring the switch through the companion app on my old phone, I encountered some difficulties. It seemed that my phone's compatibility was a bit of an issue, causing setup problems within the app. I was getting a bit frustrated until I decided to give it a try on my friend's newer smartphone, and the difference was remarkable.

On the new phone, the setup process was a walk in the park. The app was responsive, and I was able to establish a connection between the smart switch and my home network effortlessly. Once the initial configuration was complete, I was pleasantly surprised by how seamlessly it integrated with Alexa. Now, I can easily control the connected devices with voice commands, and the switch automatically connects after you set it up in the app.

The overall build quality of the smart switch is top-notch. It feels durable and reliable, giving me confidence that it will last for a long time without any issues. I haven't experienced any problems with it since the successful setup on the new phone.

In conclusion, this smart switch has been a game-changer for my home automation setup. While there were initial hurdles in the setup process due to my older phone, once I switched to a newer device, it worked flawlessly. It's an excellent addition to my smart home, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable and convenient way to control their devices. Just ensure you have a compatible device for the initial setup, and you'll be enjoying its convenience in no time.
