Energy Rating is Interesting
I've vaulted ceilings therefore, very difficult for 1 machine to cool the living room or a bedroom: cooled only 250sq ft.The first day: 108 degrees: on all day: was 28kw, temp setting 70-78 "MID-LOW-&-AUTO"The second day:106 degrees; not on at noon: was 18kw. temp setting 70-78 "LOW"Since then, I have 2 portables:105-110 degrees: all-day 78-82 degrees: cools 500sq ft with 3 fans.Energy Rated at $105. a yr/8 hrs a day/3 months/@13 cents kw hr/95 degrees @ 80 temp control.2 machines, 2 Vornados and a Ceiling fan, cooled the vaulted room.Costs are higher than the energy rating, due to not only the fans but actual high temps.Estimate: $100-$140 for 2 machines ($30-$40 each per mo/ running 10-12 hrs)with 3 fans ($10-$20 each per mo/ running 24 hrs).You may not need to have a drain hose, it's debatable, even in desert climates,it will fill a 1 gallon container in 2 days.Unhappy actually & feel completely a near hopeless situation has been offered by both rooftop Evaps & AC portables, as temps are due to rise further into 120. All are looking to be gadgets.The rooftop evaporative cooler is constantly leaking on the roof, and barely provides cool air.& yet this version of AC is barely out-puting any breeze at all, 1-2 ft max of full breeze. Unlike the sites that say 1 or the other, I'm using evap on 1/2 the house and the AC portable for 1 room due to cost. (shown above with 1 AC machine). Pretty design to look at though, modern. ! must be filter cleaned every 3 days (sm. whisk broom).
