Good vacuum and easy to use

I’ve used this vacuum 2-3 times now and pulled the main part off so I could lift it to get in high spaces with the attachment to the wand. Pretty nice. I have a spot in my house hallway that’s darker and the light helped so much. I saw all the Holden Retriever hairs I would’ve missed. The light is much more helpful than I thought. I’ve used the pet hair roller in my couch and I like that attachment better than my previous Shark. It gets the Lab hair easier and quicker. I was going to get another Shark but after seeing this as rated one of the top vacuums I’m glad I did. It’s easier to use and comes apart and back together easy. I also cleaned out the canister, also super quick and neat. I liked my Shark, it was 10 years old and we really beat that thing up. Vacuumed our boat and everything with that thing, but the push pull mechanism wasn’t working anymore and vacuuming was a workout. Glad I got this Bissell. I hope it lasts as long as the Shark did.

Bissell Lift Off, model 2998 (not slim). By far best pet hair remover I've ever owned. I've always had cats and I've used a lot of different vacuums that say pet this or pet hair that. Plus I work construction digging in the street and in yards and get plenty dirty. I've never once had a vacuum that the hair removal tool actually did much of anything let alone had real power behind it. And I've never had to empty the canister of any vacuum after one use let alone twice. Especially in a 2 floor house that's mostly hardwood except handfull of area rugs. If I had wall to wall carpet I'd probably have to empty it after every room and it's a decent sized canister. PRO's Decent suction on both wand and vacuum. Can switch between floor bristles moving or not. Light on the base makes it clear how much you don't see. Detachable base makes doing the stairs easier. Lowest cost for a HEPPA filter I could find for pets. Pet hair tool actually works! Best power in any vacuum I've owned. Easy to clean. Slide switch on handle let's u dictate how much suction u use. Plus a lot more. CON's: Floor light goes off when detached from base. No extension for the wand to add more reach. Tho the wand itself without the hose is 30" long. Those are my only two gripes. Every time I've used this since I bought it I'm blown away by how much hair it picks up compared other "Pet hair" vacuums. I was hesitant because the air filter is in the front because my Dirt Devil's was too and most of the cat hair ended up back on the floor after being blown up into the air. For whatever reason this Bissell doesn't.

UPDATED REVIEW - I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong and that was the case with my ogiginal review. I've hadnit for a couple of months now and need to change my review to POSITIVE.
After I thoroughly went over all the settings, I realized I had overlooked a setting on the front of the handle for surface height. What a difference, after I set the vac on the low pile setting. It picks up GREAT! Also, found that the brush tip is removable revealing a standalone crevice tool. Overall it is a good vacuum. My long hair never gets wrapped around the roller and that IS amazing. I can't figure out how they do that. Edge cleaning is stilI mediocre and hose could be longer or manufacturer should provide an extension tube for better reach. All in all, I would recommend this Vacuum.
PLEASE READ THE UPDATE ABOVE. - I purchased this to replace old Eureka Boss pet vac, which I loved. I need a vacuum that reliably picks up dog hair, people hair, and dust dirt from area rugs, hard floors and carpet. I bought the mid price model, because I find that if at this price point it doesn't do the basics well, neither will the higher priced models that have more bells and whistles.
THE CONs - This vac seems to have great suction, but doesn't grab hair and dust from carpet as well as I expected. Edge to edge cleaning was nonexistent. It comes with only a crevice tool that has a brush tip that doesn't pick up fuzz dust and hair from baseboard on carpet either. It also doesn't have any tube extensions, so your reach is only 24-30" above what you're able to reach without the vacuum. It has an air-powered upholstery attachment. I haven't used it yet, but my experience is they don't work well and bog down with any friction. PROs - It does pick up dirt okay, and it is easy to maneuver. Also reaches under low furniture a bit further than my old Eureka due to is lower profile. It didn't have my long hair wrapped around the roller, which is great.
UPDATE - It isna good vacuum at a reasonable price. Yes, I would by again.

First off, this vacuum is probably one of the best vacuums I’ve owned in the sense that it does a great job picking up. We have 2 German Shepherds and when they shed, they SHED and this vacuum makes very short work of all the fur that’s left behind.

The reason I do NOT recommend it: The unfortunate part and the reason I’m returning it is after only a week and a half of using it I’ve had to untangle it twice, the first time was with the pet tool and the second was with the main beater bar assembly which was so bad that it stopped, began smelling and when I disassembled it to remove the tangle I found that part of the beater bar assembly had melted.

The vacuum itself is great, does a great job but there is a design flaw and hopefully Bissell can get this rectified because it definitely has potential of being fantastic!

However I felt I had to take a few minutes to share my experience with the Bissell 2998 Vacuum

I absolutely love this vacuum. I'm a long time loyal fan and customer of Bissell
This new vacuum that I recently purchased with Amazon is amazing. First a huge thank you to Amazon for making the purchase affordable for customers with their payment plan

This vacuum has above all superior suction power. It is not as noisy as my previous vacuums. It maneuvers quite well. Numerous options for the maneuvering.
It's pretty much a lightweight vacuum.
What I want to point out is that there's LED Lights built in the vacuum at the front
I have a degenerative eye condition and I have to say this feature is very important for me and I am very happy with Bissell for having this feature
I am totally satisfied with my purchase
