I have been using a Galaxy Z Fold 3 for the last 3 years as my main phone. The hinge mechanism finally gave up on it, and I decided to get the Fold 5.
First impressions, this is a great looking phone. The metallic edges give it a defined look and the opening mechanism is precise and clicks into place well, revealing a flat inner screen which is vibrant, high definition and BRIGHT (37%), great in outdoor sunny conditions.
The centre crease is also vastly reduced.
The outer display is wider, the form factor of the Fold 5 is short and stout in comparison to the Fold 3, very welcome for people with big hands and wide fingers.
The phone is noticeably faster in dual application mode, and a delight to use when multitasking.
All in all, I hope this phone carries on performing as it is today. It's very close to a perfect form factor for the inner and outer screens. The reliability on the Fold 3 was good, it survived numerous falls and heavy use for almost 3 years. This I am expecting, will be better.
I have not tested the cameras, but considering the Fold 3, which was brilliant, I expect this to be better with twice the resolution (50MP) for the main lens.
