Absolute garbage!
Camera sold as outdoor but apparently cannot be in the rain. Camera stopped working and I opened the camera and found it rusted and water damaged. Called Blink and was told that even though they are new and under warranty that water is not covered. Clearly they know they have a design problem and instead of fixing it they just remove it from warranty. AVOID BLINK AND JUST BUY A CHINESE MODEL THEY WORK MUCH BETTER AND COST FAR LESS.

Set-up was super easy but for one tiny mistake which rendered night vision all but useless but was easily rectified. I first placed the camera facing towards my gate meaning a wall was to the immediate right ( mere inches away) . This caused the infra-red to bounce back creating glare. Changed the angle of the camera and its now perfect.

These are so handy, and much better value than other cameras I use.
The battery life is brilliant - just remember to use the correct LITHIUM batteries when they finally run out as you won't get away with normal batteries.
The best thing for me is that you can have a local storage option (with an SD sync module) rather than relying on subscription. The app isn't great and the camera quality isn't market leading but more than good enough for the price. Very happy with them.

Bought 4 outdoor cameras and doorbell
whilst using the 30 day trial the system worked really well - live notifications of movement, live view of video clips in the app (very easy to set up)
ensuring you have strong wifi is key as is having a sync module otherwise when the subscription ends you cant get videos anymore !!!
so using sync module with usb stick allows you to save videos to it -HOWEVER when your subscription stops then things change.
the motion detection becomes very slow - often taking minutes
clips dont appear in the app for some minutes

Blink support will tell you its your slow internet speeds - no its not - its the fact that the system needs to read the video file from the usb via the sync module through your wifi to your mobile device
if your not close to your router this takes some time, but even if you are close to your router its still much slower than within the 30 day trial (which uses Amazon cloud servers) on the same wifi connection !!
so it would appear that Amazon purposely slow down the system if you dont subscribe which is £25 per device or £80 per system (large number of devices) per year
That said i still like it - easy to set up, as long as cameras not too far from router, easy app, good day-time images, average to poor night time (ive added PIR lights for motion detection within camera area), yes do get some false motion detection especially when area viewed changes from sun to shade and things move (not people or animals) which get hot /cold due to solar gain.

Bought these to assist in monitoring my elderly mother who has had several falls. The ones I purchased are wireless due to having batteries with a 2 year life(supposedly). They are therefore easy to postion & set up. You can set area for privacy & motion, so if the camera is armed & motion is detected, then a message is sent via the app to your phone. This allows you to look in live to see what is happening. The images are clear during the day time, but as of yet not seen them in the dark so cannot comnent. You can also talk back through the camera via the app, in the case of my mum to ask if she needs help. I also have the subscription which allows more features as well as storeage. It is early days with having these but so far so good & feel they will give peace of mind.

We've had these cameras for a good while now (over 3 years as of 2024). Here's whats we've learnt using them:

PROS:

They're relatively easy to setup, however, being a battery powered cam they need the small Sync Module to operate (not included in all kits!). This isn't always as convenient, but has its major benefits - it's wired to the internet (the Sync Module, not the cam itself), so much more stable connection and most of all - can record on a USB storage attached to it. That way all cameras connected can record locally if you rather not pay a monthly fee for a Blink subscription plan. Many similar cams can record on SD cards, but the card is in the cam itself defeating the purpose, as if the cam "mysteriously disappears", so is your footage of the event. Not to mention that some can't even do that - yeah, it's you I'm looking at Ring. With the Sync Module, you can have it tucked away hidden in the house and it wirelessly connects to the camera recording all events, so even if some "smart" individual makes it off with your camera, you'd still have his/her face on record.

Battery life - this is very subjective and depends on usage, location, signal strength, temperature, recording settings etc., so don't mind the reviews re battery life - I for one have a cam that rarely sees movement, it works on cheap alkaline batteries, not the expensive recommended lithium (as included initially in the cam kit) and it has been running for months with no issues.
I'd say batt. life is pretty decent and you can even leave one in your car if it's within wireless range, having a way to monitor it remotely - especially useful if you park on the road outside and can't legally fit a camera pointing to the road from within your property.

What's interesting and rarely mentioned if at all - these do have a power micro-USB port on the back, so if installation allows, you can actually have it mains powered too and have batteries fitted inside for backup only!

CONS:

Picture quality really isn't the greatest - better cameras in similar price range are available.

As it uses Sync Module, the camera itself connects wirelessly to both - the Sync Module and the Internet. That means at the installation location you need to have good wifi coverage on both. The latter is easier as your wireless internet router would for the most cases provide good coverage in the house, but the small Sync Module doesn't have very powerful signal, so you need to keep relatively close to it, which may be an issue with bigger properties and outside cams.

You'd need more than one Sync Module if you want some of your cameras to be armed and record on movement all the time, and some only when you're away. Blink app currently does not support having different arm setting per camera - you need to add them to separate "systems" within the app to achieve that, but then you can only add each Sync Module to one system only...

So WHY the 1-star - it's advertised as a Security Camera - well, to be a security camera you need to be able to rely on it when you're away. You simply can't! We've caught ours to miss starting to record on a number of occasions, they update automatically with no setting to switch to manual which is a major security flaw - it just wouldn't do anything while updating and the worst bit - if it stuck on a bad update and stuck it will - it's gone for good. We have a property abroad where we made the mistake of leaving them as a security cam - worked for a couple of months and then just disappeared off the grid - bad update, bad software/firmware? They now need to be reset and reconfigured manually from scratch, so if you won't be around for a while - that's bad news. Good thing we had another camera which worked fine (can't believe I'd say it - it's a TP-link) and which saw the Blink cam and Sync Module blinking away in setup mode!?!

Another security issue with these cams is that you can only set the camera to record for up to 30 seconds at a time after which it stops and takes a mandatory break even if there's still action in front of it - what security cam does that!?

If it wasn't misleadingly advertised as a security camera, this would have been 3-4 stars easily.

All in all - a good camera to keep an eye on things, but do NOT rely on it as a SECURITY cam when you're away!
