She actually recognizes your voice. It fun to turn the tvs, night lights, lock the doors, get the weather fore cast etc. We turn our bedroom lamp on as they are expensive antiques and we don't want to be banging them around. So it's Alexa turn on the bedroom lamps. Voila. Light. The hall lights when coming in from the garage, lock the door, unlock the door, turn on the Christmas tree, & off, etc. The voice is clear and volume can be set by voice. Alexa "play Christmas songs" and on it comes.
Lots to do and learn with this system tho! if you want to watch ho get the bigger echo. it's not much more money and well worth it for the bigger screen. You can get alexa to find stuff and get directions as well. She will turn on Smart tvs, but not the older Samsung or Sharp that used a web page that isn't in existence any more. I found that odd as it doesn't cost anything, but the TV asks for a code from there,
