Customer Review

The unit I purchased stated "NEW" yet mine was missing the box seal. Everything looked pristine so maybe it was new although I cannot say that with 100% certainty.

It is a very cheap (in terms of price) and rugged old school flip phone running Android 11 GO Edition which enticed me enough to purchase. Not your typical flip phone as the Cat S22 Flip definitely has some extra heft, and being above average in size compared to your typical old school flip phone. Personally, I like how it feels in-hand folded and unfolded.

As a phone, all aspects in that regard work great even with my carrier TELUS. An ex T-Mobile device it was yet no real negatives I found due to that being the case. As an Android device, yeah it can be meh at times but that's to be expected considering the spec's and screen size. Nice to have access to some essential apps when need be, though it just may be a daunting task when doing so app dependent.

Is early in the game yet finding battery life to be questionable on occasion (dropping off rather quickly at certain percentages). Unsure if we are dealing with a battery issue or an Android one, or simply a case of the battery and Android still needing more time to settle in. Charging times are high too (2.5-3+ hours when battery is in the 10% to 20% range. I ordered an OEM replacement battery so we’ll see if that helps any with one or both of the above.

Used the Cat S22 Flip for a few days but for me the biggest disappointment is relying on the subpar cameras. Patience is a virtue when taking pictures but even then, certain scenes, less than perfect lighting, will make taking semi-worthy photos nearly impossible. Surprisingly the rear camera’s 1080p video recording option does better than expected, if one keeps movement to a bare minimum that is.

At the end of the day I feel the Cat S22 Flip is a recommendable flip phone for the right segment of users. Even if one doesn’t rely on Android it’ll make for an excellent, and tough, flip phone for making & receiving calls at a reasonable price point.
