I have two Wyze Cams a V4 and a V3. They are located near each other to compare. Both have San Disk micro SD cards. Neither has a paid subscription.
Second photo is from V4 when I click EVENTS and Playback you get a timeline with blob that says ‘3 events’ . It is then up to you to slowly move the time line to find the event. There is no option to advance or rewind in 30 sec spurts. I have read you need a paid subscription to see more.
The first photo is how the V3 captures events. I find the V3 method easier to find the event in particular if a person walking up to the door.
Wyze supports tells me after one hour long live chat and two emails that the V4 SHOULD look like the V3. I’m not convinced. Wyze support also says I do NOT need a paid subscription to see events as long as I have an SD card.
In Feb 2024, there was a Wyze security breach where videos were available to others. Wyze suspended the Event capture while they found a fix. I have no idea if this is the fix or if it’s still broken.
I have an active ticket open with Wyze and I gather from online forums I am not the only one who is not happy with this issue.
I have until May 10 to return this cam which I will do if Wyze doesn’t respond by then.
If you have a V3, don’t rush out and buy the V4. It’s too new and I feel there are bugs still to be worked out.
