Do you want to install the light switch without pulling wires or tearing walls?

Do you need a remote light switch that can be added to the existing lighting system freely and won't affect the existing system?

Thinkbee wireless light switch is a great alternative to the traditional wiring light switch, you can also add it to the existing lighting system as a three way switch or remote control switch.

Simply install the receiver between the devices to be controlled and the power supply. Then two easy steps to pair:

1. Press the function button of receiver for 2 seconds (the indicator light blinks in red). Then release the function key. Now the controller is ready to pair.

2. Press the switch panel to pair, lights ON/OFF indicating the pairing was succeeded.

These are great switches but they do have a small issue or two.

I really like the design and function of these. They are well made, they look good and they are very easy to wire in. The kit includes 2 wire connectors that allow you to insert your wires and just snap them down, no marrettes are required which makes wiring very easy. The receiver itself is quite small and fit's easily in a single gang device box. They have an antenna wire which you can feed out of the electrical box to allow for a much better signal than receivers that don't have an external antenna. They are also super quick to switch on/off, it's almost instant. I've used other wireless switches in the past that take a second or two to turn the light on, these are so fast it's almost like having a normal switch

The issue? Well, the switch housing doesn't mount finish to your wall. There is a protruding rectangle where the switch itself sits which leaves about a 1/16" gap between the housing and your wall. You are expected to mount them with these thick adhesive pads but it's really not ideal, doesn't look good and I don't put much faith in adhesive pads lasting a long time. If you want to mount it flush you have to cut a hole in your wall or carve in a recess. The problem is, to do this you won't have much space left for screws as the hole goes right to where the screws need to be. The only solution I found was to just carve a recess and use a couple of drywall anchors for the screws. They are also not the same size as a single gang device box in North America so you'll have a gap if you try to attach it to one.

If you can deal with either having a gap between the switch and the wall or finding a way to mount it flush these switches are excellent. You could also go for the versions with no frame to resolve the gap issue, they just won't look like your other switches. Overall, great, well made, look great, super snappy to switch the lights on/off and cheaper than many other switches out there.

We wanted to put pot lights in the soffit of our pool house and turn them on from the house so we can see walking out to it at night. I love this. We did have an electrician install it, which I would recommend, and he replace some cheap connectors that were part of the unit. But the remote works amazing. You can put the remote into a wall bracket and then it looks like any wall switch if you choose. But we wanted to use it remotely from the house. I was concerned of the quality and if it would work at all. Our electrician (who is picky) said it's a pretty good product (except for the cheap connectors).

The only issue is the connectors they give you. When you are trying to connect to larger wire they just don't work for a number of reasons. Just use maretts and save yourself the frustration of trying to make these neat little connectors work. I'm using it in an outside location at lease 30M from the indoor location of the remote, works fine. The switch is in a sealed PVC box.
