I really like the colour of the one I picked. The dark green is nice. Not too heavy. It definitely keeps your hot drinks hot! I haven’t tried for cold yet. I don’t like how the mouth piece interferes with the locking mechanism though. It gets in the way and digs into my chin. The lid springs open so it stays open and doesn’t hit you in the face. So that’s great. Because the thermos is so slim, the mouth piece is narrow and if you tip too much, it spills on your face.

I am happy with this purchase. This travel mug is leakproof and keeps my tea hot for around 6 hours. I love the sleek design, and the locking mechanism for the lid fits under my bottom lip comfortably when I am drinking from it. The matte midnight black finish is really pretty too. I wish I had bought the larger size, and I will probably get the bigger one when it is time to replace this one.

 The lid has a unique design, which I've never seen in any of the 6 other types I own. The lid has a closing system that I well made, and should also remain intact, and leak proof for years. It amazinglly keeps ice frozen for over 12 hours at room temperature, and most importantly to me,(at times), you can pour out of it a dribble at a time, or a full pour, and when you stop pouring,
there isn't one drip that runs down the side,(which is a feature I have searched for for the last 8 years).My purchase history proves that. I have 7 othe "like" mugs in my cupboard, and they all drip down the side no matter how slowly, or abruptly stop pouring. I am ordering another right now. Didn't think I could ever rate a thermal cup/mug, 100%, but I am GLADLY WRONG.100% (not a paid, or free item review either.The maker should advertise the heck out if this thing showing most of what I just showed. Remarkable that it took so many years, and brand choices, to find a simple drip proof mug.

My favourite travel mug is the 2nd version of the Thermos Direct Drink Bottle. I tried the current 3rd version, but don't like the drinking spout on it as much. So, I thought I'd give the Simple Modern a try.

At first, I rated it as a close second to the Thermos. It seems to do just as well at keeping liquids hot for a long period of time. The lid is a much simpler construction that's easy to clean, but if you're not careful it's easy to leave some liquid in the opening when you close the lid, so a little bit could spill out.

But then I discovered that the slide-lock tab doesn't actually work, which enabled the lid to pop open while I was walking and spill hot tea all over me.

The locking tab is supposed to prevent the button from moving, but that doesn't happen on mine. The button still moves about 50%, which is juuuuust barely enough to keep the lid from popping open. But if there's a shock to the bottle/lid, it can open up on its own. I can't tell if it was always like this and I was just lucky, or if my bottle is defective. In any case, it's bad design, and I can no longer trust this bottle for travel.

I'll go back to my Thermos Direct Drink bottles, which have locks that haven't failed after over a decade of use.

This coffee cup / thermos is absolutely amazing I have been using it every day for the past two and a half months. It is thin enough to fit in my hand so I don't drop it and more importantly it keeps my coffee hot all day and it does not leak. The latch has a lock on it if you push it down and this thing is in my backpack it's on its side it doesn't matter it doesn't leak and it doesn't come open if you have it locked. Something that is also extremely important to me is that the lid is easy to clean and it doesn't have all these small parts. If something happens to this one I will definitely be purchasing again.
