Did a build recently and this came up while searching for a 2TB SSD and I genuinely thought this was a 1TB ad that slipped through among the many others. But I did a double take, then a triple take, then wt eff take. Then reading glasses on, then off... well you get the picture.I had never heard of Timetec before until very recently so I took the time to read some reviews and decided I would try based on them. The installation went without a hitch.A few weeks have now passed and I just did the obligatory CrystalDiskMark bench and I'm beyond impressed. I can't remember the exact price but at somewhere between 165-170 Canadian buckeroos (half the price I paid 2 years ago for similar specs on a competitor brand which still sells for close to the original) this was a steal. I think this may be actually stolen goods lol. OK not really.My only real gripe here is not with the product at all. It's that with the 3 metrics Amazon presented me to rate the product, one of them was "longevity". At just 3 weeks I don't feel qualified to speak on the longevity but I don't want to haul the average down either so I decided to rate it 5 now and adjust later which I am sure will not be necessary.So if these do become available again at or about the same price point, by all means do get this. You'd be {social credit approved adjective here} not to.Update: Bought a second unit for my new laptop even cheaper than the 1st. Love these.

Bought this to upgrade my ACER NITRO 5 which only comes with 128gb SSD installed. I was able to install very easily as the laptop haa a second SSD slot. I created the partition easily and now I have another drive for games and other media

This ssd is fast, reasonably priced and easy to install

Great for moderate gamers or people just looking for more storage without using an external HDD (which is much slower than an SSD) and much cheaper than an external SSD

I don't have much experience with installing hardware on laptops, but managed this very easily. Give it a go!

I have a Samsung SSD and three Chinese SSD hard disk, The Samsung is great but The Timetec was a real surprise, it is exceptionally good even in the heat of the summer it still performs exceptionally good.
also the price is way cheaper than the Samsung. Congratulation Timetec producing a reliable and fast SSD with an affordable price.

This solid state drive works perfectly when installed on my Lenovo Ideapad 330. The laptop is a few years old, did not come with a solid state drive, and had become unusable - it took at least 20 minutes to start up, then so sluggish I couldn't use it. It is now like a new laptop, boots up in less than a minute, fast for everything I do on it. The initial install of the new drive seemed to take a long time to reboot but since then the laptop is better than new.

The media could not be loaded.
 Imagine turning your decade-old computer on, and instead of waiting a few minutes, it only takes 10-30 seconds from hitting the power button to entering your password. This is possible, because of SSD technology! Timetec’s assortment of hard drives available all seem to have competitive performance, at truly competitive pricing.

4 stars is because of the packaging (or lack of) for shipping. As far as their SSD drives go, it’s an excellent option for those of us who are updating older computers to create a boot drive, or simply for occupying another HD bay to hold your media library. The write and read speeds are more than acceptable for the cost and it will likely meet or exceed your expectations.

It’s a huge performance leap from older mechanical drives and probably the best thing you can do for a computer that’s 5+ years old without breaking the bank. Plus, it can always be transferred to a newer computer down the road, saving you money and time! I can’t speak for longevity at the moment but it appears to be a solid product. I plan to update the review if the drive dies prematurely.

Currently installed in an older 2014 era Asus ROG laptop, which fits nicely and improved the boot time like crazy! Going from 1.5-2.5 minutes to about 15 seconds on average. The computer is much more responsive as well, and co-operates nicely with the Asus ROG BIOS. I don’t know if I would rely 100% on this drive for everything, but it’s a very good budget gaming option or for somebody looking to fill their Steam library. For this build, I will risk it since it’s mostly used for light gaming or streaming. For the price I’d buy another drive or two from them, however the shipping is what worries me a bit, due to being simply sent out in an anti static bag, in an excessively sized bubble envelope with no labelling apart from the Amazon serial # sticker.

All in all, thumbs up from me. Nice job Timetec! Get a box or clamshell for shipping your SSDs, and it would be an easy 5 stars from me.

I've upgraded 3 old Windows 10 machines from HDD's to Timetec SSD's and the performance improvement is considerable. It won't make the old machine as fast as a brand new machine with the latest processor and DDR5 memory, but might make it 70% as fast for simple computing. It really improves boot time as well, cutting it by as much as 80%. I did it by getting an external USB housing for the drive and using the associated disk cloning software. It also helps if you can find a YouTube video of someone opening up your particular laptop, since they are all a bit different and you don't want to accidentally damage a connector or something. And since you are in there anyway, it's a good time to upgrade to 8 GB of memory (for Windows 10) and replace the battery. All in it's a lot cheaper than a new machine.

Update: After contacting Timetec, I decided not to follow their instructions to re-purchase from Amazon and then return substituting the defective SSD.
Changed from 2 stars to 1 star, because nobody would feel right scamming Amazon? Actually, an Amazon chat rep said to go ahead, but it's too weird for me. (even though the world often works like this)

It worked until it became extremely slow at reading while giving occasional read errors (some files unrecoverable). While nothing I've lost is critical, it's a hassle to be recovering data and getting an RMA. This is reminder to automate your backups. Another lesson is to pay the money for better quality, or pay with time and annoyance later.

TEAMGROUP T-Force Vulcan Z 1TB also failed within a few months. So far, Silicon Power and WD products have never failed me.

Will update after RMA. It should have a 3 year warranty. The support link from Amazon.ca is broken, but easy to figure out.

Easy to install SSD to replace a 2.5" HDD, or a 3.5" HDD, with a mounting caddy
First use a Hard Drive cloning App to back up your HDD and then swap this SSD into the HDD location.
Then boot up your PC or Mac, and your are done.
It will boot up or load programs about 4x faster.
