There was a problem filtering reviews right now. Please try again later.
It took a bit to understand the mounting setup but it did not take long to mount it, select the right supports and level it. The rack is very light, appears to be very well built and feels very sturdy with a full pack mounted on top.
The lock for the ratchet and strap mounting system is simple and works well. It will be easy and quick to take the rack off and then put it back on. The tire and frame clearance is great and I was able to easily modify my rear fender to fit securely under the rack without having to modify the rack.
My only complaint is that I had to purchase the side frames (for the large panniers) separately which made this rack a comparatively expensive item.

It took a while to figure out how to fit it: the design is unconventional, and the instructions are not very well drawn. The straps and ratchets are fiddly and the rubberish protectors/grips really didn't want to stay in place when I was adjusting it to find the correct position. Though it was not too tricky to find which of the three included struts was the right size (though it involved balancing of the unattached rack with my head while I tried to fiddle them into place) the sliders that allow for fine adjustment of the rack level simply wouldn't slide, despite the screws being as loose as they could be. In the end, I wound up lightly tapping them with a hammer to move them into position, which worked fine. You really need to pull the straps tight: unless you strain it as far as it will go, I reckon it would slip. I would not like to have to adjust it again because the four ratchets that hold the straps in place need a special key to release them, that I am almost bound to lose. I *think* you could poke a very thin pointed awl into the holes to release them, with a bit of fiddling, but I'd not bank on it. On the bright side, it would be really difficult to steal.
Now that it is fitted, it is as solid as a rock. I like the flat top a lot - a handy place to keep my big heavy lock, no big gaps through which it might fall. I like that you can move it back or forward, though its default position is fine for my needs. It's pretty light. Though (having read other reviews) I do have the optional side panels on order, both sets of panniers that I own (dirt cheap but nice Schwinn bags with rigid backs from Canadian Tire) don't need them. Both have clipped over the rails and attached to the support post quite happily, with no risk of bumping into anything important. I can see, though, that some bike/bag combinations would probably need the side panels, and I'm not unhappy that I paid the extra $25 for them because they will add an extra layer of reassurance and flexibility to attach more things. I attached a cheap reflector: there are 4 holes so it should take most varieties. I guess it doesn't come with one because it can be attached at the front or rear.
I've not tested it with more than the recommended 24lb load but it has happily carried 4 full carrier bags' worth of shopping and a 3.5kg lock over bumpy cycle tracks for about 20km without flinching. I had to slightly extend the towing bar of the Burley Travoy trailer to ensure adequate clearance, but it's made to do that and it works just fine.
I'm slightly tempted to get another for the front, but I think it would affect the steering too much to be worth the trouble. Two of these, though, would cater for a *lot* of baggage.
One star deducted because of the high price and difficulty of fitting, and (at this price) I'd prefer one that could take a slightly higher load but it's a good, well engineered, light, elegant rack that suits my light, elegant, well-engineered bike very well.
The rack was easy to install with minimal hardware to attach unlike less expensive models with multiple screws, rods and brackets. The Thule rack fit perfectly on our Giant Momentum electric bikes. The Disconano panier bags, also from Amazon are a perfect match. I am so completely satisfied, and this the first I have ever taken a photo of an Amazon purchase.

The rack itself is sturdy and stays put. I'm happy with my choice. Just did four 100k rides in a week with it and not one issue.

Absolute Kaufempfehlung!
