Easy to use, feature rich, configurable!
This was my first time using a NAS, and I have to say I'm really impressed with the TerraMaster F4-423. For people without experience, the thought of setting up a NAS and configuring RAID may seem like a daunting task, but TerraMaster includes user-friendly, step-by-step instructions with video to help anyone get started. A word of caution is that the images in their setup instructions is a little outdated, but it remains straightforward to follow. The hardware is sleek, reliable, and quiet. The operating system that comes with it is TOS, and you can easily install Docker and VirtualBox, or the many apps available on the App Center. Backup options include support for File System snapshot, Time Machine for Mac, and USB copy. You are not locked into TOS however. With a bootable USB you can also install TrueNAS if you prefer an open-source alternative. TerraMaster's design makes it easy to disassemble and modify its hardware components like SSD, RAM, and USB, making it highly customizable and upgradable to your needs. An amazing value for the price, offering features for casual beginners and advanced tinkerers, the TerraMaster has much to offer to anyone looking for a reliable storage solution.
