Sweet Surrender (Sweet Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

First Book in the Sweet Series by Maya Banks, and it “might just singe your fingertips off.”—New York Times bestselling author Nalini Singh

Under Faith Malone’s soft exterior lies a woman who knows what she wants: A man who’ll take without asking—because she’s willing to give him everything…

Dallas cop Gray Montgomery wants only to find the guy who killed his partner and bring him to justice. What he’s found so far is a link between the killer and Faith—and if Gray has to get close to her to catch his man, all the better. She’s everything Gray desires in a woman, but he suspects she’s playing games. No way would she allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she?

Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance. So she takes matters into her own hands to prove to him it’s no game she’s playing. She’s willing to surrender to the right man. Gray would like to be that man. But catching his partner’s killer has to be his first priority. Until Faith is threatened and Gray realizes he will do anything to protect her…

Having lost his best friend and partner Alex in the line of duty Grayson Montgomery isn't sure he's really ready to return to his job. After talking to Mick Winslow, Alex's father, and being stonewalled by police bureaucracy, it's obvious that Alex's murder will go unpunished - a fact he will not allow to happen.

Mick's looking into the circumstances surrounding his son's death has garnered information which the current chief of police chooses to completely disregard. Mick's hopes of catching a killer lie in enlisting Gray's help and the belief that Faith Malone's tenuous link to her mother can lead them to the man in question - Eric Samuels.

Faith Malone works for her adopted father, William, at Malone and Sons Security. She's a simple girl just trying to find happiness in life after surviving a difficult childhood caring for her drug-addicted mother. The only time she hears from her mother is if she needs money and hasn't heard from her in a year.

Through Mick's connections, Gray secures a job at the security company which puts him in the perfect position to get close to Faith. On his very first day there he witnesses her reaction to a phone call which he believes to be from her mother. Faith isn't anything like he expects and he feels bad for using her in an attempt to get to her mother and Samuel. Gray finds it difficult to remain detached from Faith and the more he learns about her the faster his attraction grows. It reaches a breaking point when he learns that she's visiting a sexual fantasy club referred to as The House. There's no way sweet, innocent little Faith could possibly know what she's getting herself into - or so he thinks. Faith has done all the settling she's going to for vanilla sex and passive men. She's looking for a real man - one who's willing to take control and make her feel safe and protected and there's no denying that many aspects of Dominance and submission turn her on in a big way. Gray's dedication to finding Alex's killer has never wavered but he's drowning in guilt for his deception. Faith's refusal to cave into her mother's pleas for money puts her in an extremely precarious position, especially since Samuels refuses to take `no' for an answer. Can Gray protect Faith and still manage to catch a killer? And how will Faith feel about being `used'?

With her newest release, SWEET SURRENDER, Maya Banks delivers all the intensity and sexual tension that have quickly endeared her to readers. From the moment each character is introduced in this story they take on a very personal `friend' quality and I found that I wanted to know more about each and every one of them. I got a huge laugh out of Faith's venture into The House - not because she was shocked by anything that went on in there but because of how Gray reacts. I swear you could practically feel the rage radiating off of him over the thought of another man touching `his woman.' I especially developed a fondness for Damon, the proprietor of The House. He's so genuinely likeable and up-front about his own desires that I'm hoping we'll see more of him in a future book - as well as Faith's brothers - you just have to love these guys!

SWEET SURRENDER has it all - sexual tension, suspense, characters that live on in your memory even after you've put the book down, but most importantly there's a feeling that you belong - that you're part of this group of people. Maya Banks's storylines are always full of situations that captivate readers, but it's the emotional pull you experience which brings the stories to life. Beautifully written!

I've read pretty much all of this authors books but this book felt like so many of her other ones. It was still a good book, but there wasn't as much depth to the characters and it didn't draw me in like the other books. I'd really like to see more range from this author.

This was a total waste of money. It was extremely boring, and put me right to sleep. I struggled through this book to say I read the whole thing, but it was extremely boring. very disappointed

Ugh. Snooze. There were only a few good parts to the book. But mostly, I was bored out of my mind. Should have just bought a $5 Harlequin romance novel, and saved the extra money.

I really liked sweet surrender. It wasn't the 1st book i read from the sweet series but i was impressed. Gray's character and his dominance surprised me. gray makes out that he's not into the BDSM scene but he sure shows lots of traits from it when he is with faith. Faith is also another character that was intriguing. Although she seems a shy sweet person she is not afraid to go for what she wants.... and she knows what she wants as well.

overall story was good, sex scenes were great. Good start to the series.

Detective Gray Montgomery is on a mission to find the killer of his partner. After a long recovery and no leads, he takes the advice of his partner's father and follows a lead that takes him to meet Faith Malone, a stranger. With only one goal, to catch a killer, he denies the passion and attraction he feels for Faith. Faith is the sweet, feminine woman he longs to dominate, but he thinks she is only playing games.

Faith is a young woman finding out what she really wants. After many relationships, she knows she wants a man to take care of her. A man she can surrender her heart, body and mind too. When her latest relationship ends amicably, she starts researching BDSM on the internet and finds The House and Damon the owner. Damon leads her through The House cumulating in a spanking by a Dom that does nothing for her, until Gray arrives. Gray showing up changes everything and now she knows what she wants.

But there is a real threat to Faith and Gray must man up and decide what he feels for Faith is more than a game or even a mission.

Sweet Surrender was a good beginning to a series I am looking forward to reading. Most of the love scenes happen towards the end of the book, but they are hot and fast, one coming upon the last one fast. No pun intended. The book is erotica and has some deep sexual scenes including M/M/F, anal sex, bondage, and spankings. If this isn't your cup of tea, then this book won't interest you.

The plot had a few transparent scenes. You know the bad guy up front and his connection to Faith. Faith is the innocent, young girl, but not so young as to not have dated. You assume she is in her early 20s and Gray is in his 30s. Faith was adopted when she was an adult by Pop Malone, gaining a brother Connor. There is also Micah and Nathan who work for Pop and act like brothers to Faith. Hoping the next books are about this hot guys along with Damon.

Not an outstanding, hold onto your seat and douse yourself with water book. It was fun, but just not something I took too seriously. No deep emotions evoked. No tears. Just a fun book and series that I hope gets better with each book.
